Manolo Gabbiadini is sidelined for Southampton’s home clash against Bournemouth. Michail Antonio is ruled out of West Ham United’s trip to Hull City, while Salomon Rondon and Nacer Chadli will be assessed ahead of West Bromwich Albion’s match at Manchester United.

Southampton will be without Manolo Gabbiadini for the home clash against Bournemouth, with the Italian international sidelined due to a groin injury. Claude Puel also revealed that Maya Yoshida will be assessed after a long-haul flight back from Japan, while there is bad news on Virgil van Dijk, with the defender unlikely to return this season.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has revealed that Ryan Fraser is “touch and go” for the trip to Southampton due to a hamstring issue. The winger has trained this week, though.

Arsenal will be without Petr Cech and Lucas Perez for the home encounter against Manchester City. Cech, who is also set to miss the West Ham United match on Wednesday, is out with a calf injury, while Perez is sidelined due to a thigh problem. Mesut Ozil featured for Germany over the international break and is set to come into contention for a recall.

Slaven Bilic is without Winston Reid, Michail Antonio and Pedro Obiang for the trip to the KCOM Stadium. Antonio’s hamstring injury isn’t as bad as first feared, though, and he could be fit for Wednesday night’s match against Arsenal. Mark Noble is back in training and available for the Hammers.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ander Herrera are both still suspended ahead of Manchester United’s home clash with West Bromwich Albion, while Paul Pogba, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling are expected to be ruled out.

Salomon Rondon and Nacer Chadli both need to be assessed ahead of West Bromwich Albion’s trip to Old Trafford. Rondon is only returning to the club today following a long-haul flight from South America, while Chadli picked up a shoulder injury while away on international duty with Belgium. Matt Phillips is expected to miss out once again due to a hamstring injury.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche revealed that Johann Berg Gudmundsson isn’t quite ready to return from a knee injury, with the Iceland international set to start training at the start of next week.

Vincent Janssen will be assessed ahead of Spurs’ trip to Turf Moor, having been struck down with a chest infection over the international break.

Swansea City head coach Paul Clement will have Martin Olsson and Kyle Naughton available again for the home clash against Middlesbrough, with the pair recovering from hamstring and ankle injuries respectively.

Xherdan Shaqiri is set to miss out for Stoke City ahead of the trip to Leicester City. The Swiss international has had a setback with his calf tissue, after representing his country during the international break.

Sunderland manager David Moyes was able to deliver good news on Lamine Kone and John O’Shea ahead of the trip to Watford. Kone missed the goalless draw against Burnley with a twisted knee, but has returned to training this week, and is set to start. O’Shea, meanwhile, is expected to be available after suffering a shin injury while on international duty. Lee Cattermole and Victor Anichebe are closing in on first-team returns, but the trip to Vicarage Road is likely to come too soon for the pair. Bryan Oviedo and Sebastian Larsson have returned from international duty with no issues.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

    Jaku
    Alonso - Alderweireld - Robertson
    Siggy - Sane - Eriksen - Sanchez
    Kun - Llorente - Lukaku

    Bench: Heaton, Davies, Pieters, Evans

    Any obvious changes need there?

Looking good. Play Davies over Robbo.

If FT left, maybe Evans -> cheap defender (Yoshida), but not essential and can roll.

It was a toss of the coin for me with Valencia and Toby. Went with Toby because it's a slight differential at the moment and he's surely going to score soon. One more question; do you think Sane > Pedro could be worth a hit?

    1ft
    0.5 ITB

    Heaton, Valdes
    Mee, Yoshida, Baines, Valencia, Cahill

    Safe FT?
    Mane (c)?

Reposting to canvass more views (thanks if you commented past article - still not sure!)

    Ugly team, I know. Can't decide if I take a further hit (Coleman>Valencia / Kun>Vardy already done)

    Jaku / Randolph
Brunt Alonso Pieters Valencia / RFM*
Siggy Mane Eriksen / Fletcher Antonio*
    Kaku Llorente Vardy (c)

Is it worth a -8 to do Antonio -> Sanchez this week, or do a -4 midweek?

Am playing Brunt or Pieters instead... surely Sanchez-4 is better than B/P+4, right?

Thanks - 50:50 on this one still

Hey Holmes 🙂 I'd still play Brunt. I have to play Brunt AND Pieters if I don't bring Sanchez in - if I take the -8 it becomes Brunt OR Pieters and I'd play Bruntinho fo sho.

Yeah but I didn't like the alternatives - Antonio would have to be JWP, and I'd have had to swap Siggy for Sanchez. RFM I could do for Bavies instead of making the Vardy move (I actually haven't done it yet, waiting on Leicester presser) but I feel like that's the "less fun" route!

Sanchez + Bavies for Antonio + RFM sounds much better to me, with Vardy in red hot form in and (c).

Do Sanchez now - it is not a minus 8 now, it is a minus 4, just as it will be next week, because one hit= -4. It would be madness to choose an unlikely clean sheet to merely delay a hit for one week, when that player is the best in the game. City are not exactly defensively sound.

Yeah this is my thinking as well mate. I haven't taken a -8 purposefully this year (I had Austingate earlier in the year but that was me being dumb) but that seems worth it rather than having a team "in transition" and settling for those two poor defenders - I can just play Bruntinho/Pieters (probably Brunt as he is likely to be fielded higher up the pitch with Chadders doubtful)

          2. MTPockets
              9 years, 10 hours ago

If you'll 'definitely' do the moves/hits anyway (i.e. Sanchez in, FM out will cost another -4 either way) perhaps get Sanchez now. Not ideal game but would assume greater potential vs Brunt/Pieters.

                Yeah that's what I'm thinking

                Jaku
                Alonso Brunt Valencia
                Eriksen Mane Sanchez Siggy
                Kaku Llorent Vardy(c)

Looks loads better than having Pieters there too

I will definitely do those moves - think that's the best route to get me out of my GW28 team. I'm far enough ahead of the challenger below me in ML and far enough behind ML rivals ahead of me that -8 isn't going to impact too much this week I hope!

Keep swinging between Pro and Anti doing it lol - was 55:45 anti earlier, but now 55:45 pro!

FMori > Bavies for -4, or play McAuley? (no bench if Fraser's out)

Ouchie. I like Bavies in as a long term move here, but I can also see why you wouldn't want to because -4 for a defender ain't sexy.

                              On balance - I think a -4.

Hi all, think this is my wildcard:

              Pickford
              Alonso, Valencia, Davies,
              Sanchez, Alli, Sigurdsson, Tadic
              Lukaku, Vardy, Carroll

Subs: Valdes, Yoshida, Fabio, De Roon

              1. Anything need changed?
              2. Who would you captain?
              3. Play Pickford or Valdes?

              Thanks.

It's a good team, but it doesnt seem good enough tbh. Tadic is a risk imo, Carroll is a big risk, and Davies is good in the short term but will be displaced by Rose at some point. The bench is pretty weak too, even though those players (mainly Yoshida) will be useful. The lack of either Hazard or Costa could be costly too - I dont have either, but I would if I had a wildcard.

Thanks for your comments mate. If it were you what would you change? I have 2.2 in the bank to change things and I'm aiming to cover doubles - a few Boro for week 34, Southampton for the 3 doubles. I'm definitely doing Vardy to Ibra in week 32.

Carroll will change to Gabbidani by week 35 but I think he is a decent option given their fixtures (Hull, Swansea and Sunderland in next four games) and his price.

I could do Vertonghen over Davies but as Rose isn't even back training yet I think (hope) Davies will get the next four which are great fixtures. I will need to make a change beyond that.

Tadic is a punt and I'm not convinced myself but he has good fixtures and 3 double weeks so that's my logic for it.

I'm not too worried about Costa. I've not had him in the whole season and it hasn't hurt me. He is consistent but doesn't get huge returns and in the next few weeks I don't see that changing. With Hazard it's a straight choice between him and Sancehz and I think Sanchez is the better pick right now.

Is Jack Stephens nailed on for Southampton? They have a few good fixtures coming up.

Martin Caraces was bought in Jan and he may be coming in for Stephens or Yoshida, so still a bit of uncertainty.

A lot of uncertainty. I'd take Yoshi over him as he's likeliest to drop out for Cacares.

Yeah not completely nailed, but I expect Caceres may well just be a back up. I'd opt for Yoshida too, to stay on the safe side. I think Holgate will be pretty nailed on now to the end of the season however, for value around the 4.0 mark.

Yes definitely - I own him, but they have an absurd amount of games and this is a great game in which to rest him. Mourinho spoke of the need to protect him after the last game, and I dont think that's got better after he traversed the globe to play internationally.

Definitely a good idea to get rid of Rondon - what he's doing in your squad I don't know!

Might be tempted to do Baines -> Yoshi/Bavies to fund it rather than taking out Mane. Bournemouth home midweek!

                      Ha, Rondon is pants.

Was trying to keep Mane due to that game.

Was going to get rid of a defender however means taking another hit after to do it, worth a -8 in gw?

I'm probably taking a -8 this week to do Coleman, Antonio and Kun for Valencia, Sanchez and Vardy. Feel like it's the week to do it with my team in GW28 mode still a bit, and also the 3 games in 9 days

                  a new captaincy contender:

"And it was not just simply football related. Half a decade on, he (Deeney) is in a classroom with children at Garston Manor School in Watford, a specialist school for children with autism and learning difficulties.
Questions fly around about football and holidays before a kickabout outside, staff speaking of the transformation in their children after one of Deeney’s visits.
This is his fourth, and it is pointed out he has scored for Watford in the week of every visit. “Well, if you’re a betting man, I’d suggest you should listen to them ahead of the Sunderland game at the weekend,” he says before elaborating. “Coming here it’s a release for me. It takes off a lot of stress coming here — it’s like a relief. It makes me go to the game not worried about anything and just playing.”

more deeney stuff. he has scored in 9 games this season, but is yet to score a brace, or assist in a game where he scored in.
he has got bonus in 7 of those 9 games he scored in, 4 times getting the 3 bonus.
the 2 times he didn't get bonus was because in the first 4 other players got multiple attacking returns (4!), in the other 2 other players got multiple attacking returns and he got booked.
long story short: good for bonus

who would annoy you more if they got a double figure score when you captained the other one?
imo lukaku would, would rather be the guy/gal who went lukaku when alonso went huge

A decision on Coutinho and Firmino will be made on Saturday morning. "The club did everything to back them back as soon as possible." #LFC
