Our latest round of fixes and improvements have gone live this morning.

The addition of Fantasy Premier League prices is the headline act – something that I know a good number of members have been requesting for some time.

Prices are updated daily and can be found as a sortable column in our player tables.

We’ve also added them as a global filter, allowing you to limit the players shown in a table by a maximum FPL price.

This filter is also available in custom tables, so now you can decide to build tables with a fixed maximum price in mind.

Elsewhere, we’ve added some new statistics in several areas.

Goalkeepers now have the Shots Faced and Shots on Target Faced statistics in their Goalkeeping table. We’ve also used these to calculate a Save Percentage stat. These are all useful numbers for assessing the worth of goalkeeper options.

Total shots conceded, along with total shots on target conceded, have also been added to the Team Stats Defending table. These are key indicators of team defensive form and are also added to team profiles and the team comparison tool.

We’ve also addressed some fixes in our BPS calculation. We’ve discovered that FPL does not register a save for a goalkeeper unless the shot was considered on target, so we’ve now addressed that. In addition, own goals were not factored into our Winning Goal statistic. That has been corrected.

We plan some further BPS work in the next update. We’re still not convinced on our Net Tackles calculation and will be sanity checking that against Gameweek 5 data – expect that to be tweaked in the next update.

Finally, we spotted a bug in our heatmaps display of chances created conceded. The positions were inverted when data was filtered for home or away matches only – we’ve now fixed this.

Oh, and before we go, we’ve also added a fix that should correct the auto scrolling issue that some users were suffering in Chrome. We recommend that you update to the new version if you’re still seeing this issue.

What’s coming next?

The big news is that we’re expecting to integrate both expected goals and expected assists on our test servers later this month.

We’re not sure if that’s going to make update six, but we would certainly be optimistic on update seven.

However, the main emphasis now and for the next two to three months will be HomeCrowd.

Mat will be getting up to speed with this code and our first step will be to optimise what we have, in preparation for some new features and tweaks.

I hope to bring you an update on that work, and expected goals, by the end of the month.

You can see our current task list and track our progress through the next update via this roadmap.

You can also send your feedback and requests to me at mark@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Our previous updates are detailed here, here, here and here.

A reminder that, if you want access to this update and other future additions to the members’ area, you can sign up now for £12.50. This is due to increase to £15 very, very soon, so get in quick if you’re wavering.

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Last Season if you divide the points by minutes played which Spurs Midfielder (who played at least fairly regularly) do you think finished on top?

I know the answer, multiplying the result by 90 to get a rough points per minute number (as the number is tiny if not):

        Son - 7.59
        Alli - 6.67
        Eriksen - 6.21
        Dier - 2.75

Well written article that blends the two worlds. For me, it was having to read and like memorize, Judgment Under Uncertainty. There are so many cognitive biases in our decision making, and FPL is no exception. Love the way you connect those biases to market behavior. Thanks for contributing some intellectual discourse!

Already doing it! Neat stuff. Off the top of my head, I can think of two more theories you may wish to leverage for some insights: cognitive dissonance (Festinger; a term frequently misused on these boards and elsewhere in the world of the internet), and Groupthink (Janis; explains a lot of the bandwagon behavior we see on various fantasy boards). I am sure there are lots more.

Groupthink folds nicely into herd mentality I'd say. Should be a link in article for where I've written about that 🙂

Cog diss I like...aware of the facts yet ploughing ahead. Maybe one to check the literature about 😉

Very good, it's like when we think about LIV def's we think "no way, can't defend corners" yet the fact (we ignore) is they've cleaned twice already and had plenty of cleanies back end of last season too.

Lacazette has an OK fixture so if you're doing it to get points maybe consider him too? Know we're hardly flavour of the month but hopefully Arsene will start Laca now and there culd be goals in this one...

Chelsea are in better form than Arsenal. I just think you need to be big if you're transferring in an Arsenal player as they're such a mess. Lacazette will be one i'll keep my eyes on because he's a good player. Thanks man.

    DDG
    Alonso | Stephens | Yoshida | Mee
    Mkhi | Ramsey | Willian
    Chica | Lukaku | Kane

    Elliot | Atsu | Caroll | Rosenior

    2.4 ITB, 1 FT

    A) Do you think I should use my transfer for Ramsey > Salah ( Ramsey against BOU sounds appealing yet Salah increasing in price this week and against MCI)
    OR
    B) Wait since minutes of Stephens, Ramsey, Willian are at risk hence monitor and do 2 transfers next week

    Any other advices are welcome.

Do we think Salah price will rise before weekend?

I'm tempted to take a -4 to do Kolasanic and Willian to Naughton and Salah as got the exact money?

Do you think its worth the hit or wait but likely be priced out of those moves?

    Foster Elliott
    Kolasanic Sutner Stephens Daniels Long
    Eriksen Mikky Willian Atsu Carroll
    Lukaku Kane Firmino

I am not watching Kola or Naughton but I believe Salah will rise so you may want to do it this week.

Is hanging on to Gabbi justified? Could easily upgrade to Firmino.
    Already have Mane.

    A)DO IT!!!!!!
    B) Eww, Gabbi. Bring Bobby In.

Do you reckon if Costa decided to train and maybe play for Chelsea till January at least, he could take minutes/games from Morata is do you think Costa would play alongside if at all?

I'd be amazed if Costa gets any minutes at all. If he does it'll be to waste time in the 90th minute.

Been a bit out of the loop since the end of the last GW. Is the best way to describe Trippier now as a "don't buy, don't sell"?

I'm an owner who brought him in for BUR and was obviously not happy to see the Aurier news. Does he come straight in for Keiran though?

Similar situation and factoring in the niggle he's been carrying I assume Aurier goes straight in.

I'm gonna start him regardless. Won't come on for a cameo surely

I'm not starting because I have better alternatives in terms of fixtures but I agree, cameo surely unlikely

    RMWCT

    Foster - Elliot
    Alonso - Cedric - Naughton - Mee - 4.5
    Pogba - Mikky - Salah - Brady - Carol
    Firminho - Kane - Morata

    Play 3-4-3 (or 2-5-3 w/Alonso)
