Development Squad – Update Four Is Live

Update Four is now live, introducing heatmaps as a major new feature, along with another round of tweaks and improvements.

Once again Matz1lla has done us proud with his efforts, as we continue to work at enhancing the site and tools on offer.

Here’s what’s included in this update:

Team and Player Heatmaps
As mentioned in our preview article, we’ve tried to go the extra mile with our heatmaps feature.

I always wanted to ensure that, when these were included in our members’ area, they would work with the ability to slice the Opta data by intervals – eg Gameweeks, matches, home and away etc.

Implemented in this way, they suddenly become more effective as a method of analysing player and team performance, not just in a single match, but in a group of fixtures or over the entire season.

So heatmaps can now be found in player and team profiles and in the player and team comparison tools.

You can also get them in the match dashboard, to view traditional team or single player maps for a particular fixture.

We’ve added maps for the following statistics:

Touches
Passes Received
Shots
Chances Created
Recoveries
Challenges Lost
Successful Take ons
Failed Take ons
Goal Attempts Conceded (teams only)
Chances Created Conceded (teams only)
Fouls Conceded (teams only)

Hazard vs Pedro – Touches – 2016/17 All Matches

The preview movie below shows the heatmaps in action and the options and possibilities available.

If you’ve any feedback on the maps or have any requests on other statistics you would like to see mapped, please get in touch via support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Bonus Points System additions
Having added the Baseline Bonus Points System statistics in Update Three, we’ve tweaked this further and implemented the statistics to both the player profiles and player comparison tools.

Baseline BPS is now included as a key statistic when comparing players.

Fantasy Goal Involvement
We’ve always included the goal involvement statistic.

This measured a player’s contribution in terms of goals scored or assisted as a percentage of his team’s goals scored when he was on the pitch.

We’ve now expanded this to offer a new statistic, which takes into account Fantasy assists. This is now found on the player statistic Involvement tables.

What’s coming next?
We’re looking to add Fantasy Premier League prices to our database in order to surface these in our profiles and player tables. The aim is to introduce the ability to filter tables by these prices.

We will then move to include Sky Sports prices in their tables and also build Yahoo Daily Fantasy tables, which will hopefully include player prices for the forthcoming contests.

Expected goals remains a background task as we continue to research and explore options for our model.

Once the season begins, we will also start to address improvements away from the Members’ area and, in particular, look at our HomeCrowd comments system.

You can see our current task list and track our progress through the next update via this roadmap.

You can also send your feedback and requests to me at mark@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk

Our previous updates are detailed here, here and here.

A reminder that, if you want access to this forthcoming update and other future additions to the members’ area, you can sign up for the new campaign now for our pre-season price of £12.50 (RRP £15.00).

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

If you’re new to the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout membership, you can get full details, along with a series of movies previewing the content, via this page.

Due to the new site additions, if you encounter any loading issues with the images in comparison tool, we advise clearing the browser cache (shift and F5) to resolve this.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

He started most of pre season so I think quite likely to start unless he fumbles too much

Hey guys, I'm on Rodriguez right now as my 3rd 6.0m striker.

However recent performances by Steve Mounie of Huddersfield (also 6.0m) have caught my attention and Im considering going for him instead.

Huddersfield also have 5 good fixtures to start the season and Jarod may be pushed out to the wing in West Brom's system.

    Any thoughts?

I'd be cautious of Huddersfield at the beginning of the season. With a -2 GD in the championship last season and scoring only one in open play through there three play-off games. I think it'd be wise to watch and monitor there output from a safety. Also Mounie is new to the premier league where as Rodrigeuz is proven to get goals at this level throw in WBA's fixtures arguably nicer than Huddersfield's and it's a no brainer for me.

Sanchez is such a high risk. Draft is this weekend, so I have to factor in that risk. Currently he's much lower on my priority list. You'd take KDB over Jesus?

Thoughts on a 5th defender, Löwe from Huddersfield or Suttner from Brighton?

I see Paddy Power has added odds for ASSISTs as well an any time scorers for the Charity Shield game as follows:

    Ozil 9/4
    Fab 5/2
    Hazard 3/1
    Pedro 10/3
    Sanchez 7/2
    Willian 7/2
    Lacazette 9/2
    Batshuayi 9/2
    Giroud 5/1
    Ramsey 6/1
    Morata 6/1
    Bellerin, Xhaka, Cuevas 7/1
Walcott, Perez, Ox, Kolasinac & Dave 8/1

If they continue to do this, we could perhaps use this as a tool for our own assistance 🙂

    Dummet and Austin,
    or...
    Smith and JRodriquez

Smith had 10 assists last season and Im not sure Austin is nailed.
JRod will start but Abraham is making me think too.

    Thoughts?
