2017/18 was a season of mixed fortunes for Fantasy owners of Tottenham Hotspur players.

Harry Kane matched his best-ever single-season haul for league goals (technically beating it after the Premier League goals accreditation panel retrospectively awarded him Christian Eriksen’s strike in the 2-1 win over Stoke City), but will also be remembered for frustrating blanks in home matches against Swansea City, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion, West Ham United and Huddersfield Town. A fair share of Fantasy Premier League managers will, meanwhile, still be ruing their “Kanexit” strategy in December when the England striker punished his deserting owners with back-to-back hat-tricks.

Christian Eriksen‘s total of 11 strikes (one subsequently scratched) was his best goal haul in a Premier League season, but the Danish international recorded only half of the assists (ten) he had managed in 2016/17.

Dele Alli scored 50 fewer FPL points in 2017/18 than he had managed the previous campaign, with his goal tally (nine) exactly halved. Even Son Heung-min‘s goal (12) and assist (eight) returns, as impressive as they were, were down on 2016/17.

Spurs’ wing-backs, most notably Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier, coupled their clean sheet prospects with regular attacking returns but were at the mercy of Mauricio Pochettino’s irksome rotation policy on the flanks; not one of the Lilywhites’ four full-backs started more than 26 league matches in 2017/18.

The north London club are, at least, a comfortingly unchanging presence amid this summer of big-money moves and new manager recruitment. At the time of writing, Spurs were one of only two Premier League clubs – the other being Burnley – who have yet to sign a player during the current transfer window.

Pochettino will be taking charge of Spurs for the fifth successive season, meanwhile, and we can expect the same brand of quick-pressing, attacking football he has cultivated in his four years at White Hart Lane. Although Pochettino occasionally rolled out a three-man backline in 2017/18, we will inevitably see more of the Argentinean coach’s preferred 4-2-3-1 system again this season.

In-depth data on Spurs’ season is available in the Members’ Area, while Fantasy Football Scout members can also read our detailed analysis of the key statistics in the article below.

No and i'm not sure why i've picked him but just have a feeling he will do well at 7m. Zaha and Arnautovic are possible replacements

So Martial has quit the US tour and Mourinho wants him gone (Source: Mail).

Mmmm. Makes him look a lot less of a bargain and Man United a very light looking squad to start the season.

You an insider at OT? The club hasn't said that, according to the Mail back page. Apols if you do have the insider track. If so, is Martial still going to lead the line v Leicester? I have him in at the moment.

I disagree. Emery is quality, and they have finally signed a DM.

Aubameyang is such a good player, and they have tons of creativity and pace on the right with Mkhi, Ozil & Bellerin combining. Sokratis adds aggression to back too, something Arsenal have lacked for years.

I think Spurs have missed their chance. They're stalling unless they make some signings. Too reliant on Kane, no competition for Alli/Eriksen, their CM is ageing. Could see them coming 6th

Spurs definitely need to add. Ndombele in midfield and another centre-back to replace Alderweireld. Otherwise pretty much 4th quality.

In a 4-3-3 formation which is chelsea's most likely formation does Moses fit into the team ? If so he could provide excellent value if deployed in midfield and classed as a defender in FPL

    6.5 • 13 • 9.5 • 6.5 (4.5)

Good structure? Can't decide whether to have a 4.5 defender on the bench, or just have two 4.0's and upgrade the starting defence.

I doubt those add ons will be paid and if they are it means he will be well worth it. Combine that with rumours that the settlement agreement over Silva may be included, to which Everton had already offered a reported £15m back in November/December time and it probably isn’t anywhere near the £50m fee. The press do seem to prefer the hyped version of events though as always.

I think playing it safe at the beginning is the right way forward. Take a few gambles when you activate your WC and you have an approximate idea of form, playing style, injuries, have seen new players play, new managers' formations etc.

      Aguero Vardy 4.5.

I fancy having a punt on aguero first few games weeks with Aubas tough start.

Just posting this which raises the possibility firmino won't feature gw1

I have 2 teams. One with auba arnie and firmino and the other with zaha and no firmino...

It may boil down to what is said in pressers

How many ? He'll have to get rid of him very early so there isn't much of a risk/reward in it

    Who we thinking?

    A) Mkhitarian
    B) Martial
    C) William

If Martial we're to start centrally for a few games while Lukaku recovers that could be big... on the other hand, that does appear to be a very big if.

    Lmk your thoughts!

Martial won't be at United come the start of the season because Mourinho won't let him away from the tracking back and banana flavoured protein shakes to see his missus give birth. SAD.

RMT please... 1st draft so will no doubt be completely different before season starts...

    De Gea - Fabianski
    Mendy - Daniels - Cedric - Robertson - Lovren
    Mkhitaryan - Salah - Wilshire - Sane - Neves
    Aguero - Arnautovic - Kamara

With £1.5m spare for any upgrades

Either have two 4.5m keepers for rotation or ddg and a 4m fodder.
Lovren may be back later due to WC.
Wilshire is an unknown at west ham and their starting fixtures are poor.
      Everything else looks ok.

Be worried about Daniels position, Wouldn't have Lovren if you already have Robertson. Plus he probably won't play the first couple of games due to the world cup. Lose fabianksi and upgrade Wilshire or Arnie with your spare cash be my advice

Are many people holding cash for Kane.

I don't like an early wildcard but the 1.5 could really improve my GW1 team

I'll only buy Kane if Salah gets injured.

Kane will no doubt score a ton of goals, but I still don't think he'll be good value. I only think he's worth the price if you captain him most weeks, something that won't happen if you have exploding-pillow man.

Not the cash, but I'll try to spend more for the strike force. Too many options coud emerge after GW1

Not too appealing for me. Think Cairney and Hughes are better value, and Jota, Richarlison, Walcott better options

Any 4-4-2 fans? Playing around with it and I like the look of it:

    Ederson (Speroni)
    Azpilicueta Robertson Mendy Tarkowski (Wan-Bissaka)
    Salah Mahrez Jota Richarlison (Stephens)
    Aubameyang Zaha (Quaner)
1.0 ITB for Mahrez to KDB

    How’s it looking?

I'm going with a 4-4-2 myself as well, and I quite like your team. I'd probably pick someone other than Richarlison though. Would you consider Mendy-Coleman, Tarkowski-4.5, and Richarlison-Rambo?

I’d consider that after GW 2 for sure. Feeling like starting with Aubameyang could even be an issue, not sure how to feel about Arsenal yet. I’d probably downgrade Mendy for a Richarlison upgrade. I want a BUR def for sure!

      I have 4-4-2:

      Patricio Hamer
      Mendy Robertson Bavies WB Peltier
      Salah Mahrez Keita Moura Ward
      Auba Morata Quaner

As soon as your FPL Draft is open who goes 1 to 5?

    Salah
    Kane
    Aguero
    ?
    ?

You have to take Salah first yea?

    1. CloudSky

Auba or Kane first two. Then probably Auba over Kun followed by Ciy mids, Haz, Eriksen, Kaku, Laca in no particular order.

Schmeichel is still a Leicester player. Shaw will play 2 GWs at most. I dislike starting off with Mkhi. 2x 7.0 fwds arent for me but that is personal preference I suppose. I like Jota but probably wont start with him as Id like to see how Wolves play firstly before putting him in.

assuming schmeichel is just if he actually goes to chelsea? if he does good pick, but not really just now
don't like shaw as a pick.
not think richarl or even sigurdsson better than tosun? could downgrade tosun and get one of them maybe.
