Fantasy Premier League managers have been handed an early look at Chelsea and Manchester City ahead of the 2018/19 season – and we’ve already learned a few things from the Community Shield team-sheets.

Much to our excitment, the cheaper options of Pedro (£6.5m) and Callum Hudson-Odoi (£4.5m) were both selected in Chelsea’s starting line-up.

FPL defender Victor Moses (£6.0m) was named among the substitutes but could get involved in the attacking front-three in the second-half, and is worth watching.

As for Manchester City, more of their returning World Cup stars have been declared fit for the Community Sheild than was initially expected.

Fantasy managers should pay attention to how well they cope with the occasion as they are competing today without much preparation since coming back to training.

Riyad Mahrez (£9.0m), Leroy Sané (£9.5m) and Benjamin Mendy (£6.0m) are of particular note as they were all in the Manchester City training camp this summer.

Meanwhile, a start for Phil Foden (£5.0m), with Raheem Sterling (£11.0m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) yet to return to club duties, could provide a value route into their midfield for the early part of the season.

For more detail on the areas to follow in today’s match, READ THIS ARTICLE.

CHELSEA XI (4-3-3): Caballero; Alonso, David Luiz, Rüdiger, Azpilicueta; Barkley, Jorginho, Fabregas; Pedro, Morata, Hudson-Odoi.

MANCHESTER CITY XI (4-2-3-1): Bravo; Mendy, Laporte, Stones, Walker; Fernandinho, Foden; Mahrez, Bernardo, Sane; Aguero.

    Robertson v Lovren

Is Robertson worth the extra 1 million or is this a case of "put him in 'cos everyone else has him"?

He isn't imo, but I may put him in because I don't think Lovren or TAA will start GW1. Wouldn't be certain even about GW2.

For that 1m you get 20 pts tops in offensive output. Not worth it IMO.

Barkley is out of my team. The mug doesn't even know where to run. Everyone else is just ignoring him and passing to players who are actually in the game.

they need another cm alongside kante. Fabregas whilst having the creativity does not have the legs and Barkley looks a little raw still even at his age.

Maybe they will go in for one but if they don't then perhaps someone like loftus cheek could be given a run in that position?

It's intriguing. Nailed on top 6 defensive mids will get 2-3 points plus a couple of goals/assists.

Cairney seems quite attacking but in a presumably fairly poor team, with at least 4 more attacking players.

Noble likely to be on pens if Pelligrini picks him.

Kenedy is probably the most attacking but has bad fixtures.

Think there's probably value to be found from one or two, I will not doubt choose the wrong one!

Thinking of getting KDB (with Aguero Mendy and 3 Liverpool)

If does not play week 1 then Neves home to Everton would come in. But would have KDB for week 2 onwards and good fixture run (assuming of course starts then!)

Good plan or get Mané or Sanchez as place holder for week 1 and use transfer in week 2?

        fake news? 😉

        find that unlikely tho

as far as I know Emery likes to play a 4231 with a base of 2 enforcers and then a playmaker in front which against smaller team drops deep as a playmaker.

        something like

        xhaka torreria
        mhki ozil aub
        Laca

Often then will shuffle across where auba will go up to to press with laca

I think it's more exciting to go without Milivojevic, and even though Milivojevic could outscore them, it would be extremely frustrating to hold on to him for an extended period of time in which Palace get no penalties. At least if Jota / Richarlison are out of form for a while we won't really hesitate to get rid of them.

I don't think he's on their level tbh. New club, and that new club is Fulham.

I'd say so. I'd avoid their defence due to fixtures, but a good striker with good service ca always find the net.

      No, he's not.

Arsenal and Chelsea are the only big sides he scored against last season. Also trolled a bit last season by blanking for 3-4 games and then firing after most sold him.

I switched out Arnie for Tosun today as I think he could do very well in those early fix. A little concerned that little pea might come into the mix!

The Projections tool is a bit poor IMO. It should take obvious rests/injuries into account.

Any Spurs friendlies left before start of season? Thinking of going Kane but not sure he'll start that juicy Newcastle fixture...

Is there a player ranking out there that might be of use for a draft? Or had everyone given up on doing drafts this year?

Why so much love for arnie? Yes I think West Ham have a better squad than last season but I think Anderson and yarmolenko will share more of the joy (they could help arnautovic more tbf) but they have tricky fixtures and if he doesn’t perform with his high ownership then his price will decrease. He also got a couple of braces last season so he wasn’t actually very consistent and his new position on fpl decreases his points anyway. I get the hype in a way but I think if Chris Wood starts he’s just as good of an option considering his fixtures, capability and the fact that Burnley are not affected by the europa league until later on. Love to hear your thoughts though.

Don't think you can really compare Arnie in that new West Ham team to Wood. If he stays nailed up front all season can see Arnie scoring 15-20 goals. Wood I think will get 8-12. Just my opinion not based on too much

      Its classic form vs fixtures
      I think I changed Arnie/Tosun /Zaha about 50 times
