Some Fantasy Premier League managers may have been too quick to jump on the N’Golo Kanté (£5.0m) bandwagon this season.

The Chelsea midfielder is now in 22.1% of squads after netting a rare goal against Huddersfield Town in Gameweek 1.

However, it seems there is little to suggest Kanté will provide much value this season in spite of his new role at Stamford Bridge.

While this is a debate that raged on the Scoutcast a few weeks ago, we thought we’d take the opportunity of the international break to give it a bit more of a look.

After all, we now have more data to rely on when assessing the changes surrounding Kanté this season.

    DDG
    Robbo - Mendy - Alonso - Shaw
    Mane - Fraser - Walcott - Salah
    Wilson - Aguero

    (Hamer, Mitro, AWB, Stephens)

    1 FT, 0.1 ITB

Assuming Walcott is fit and Shaw doesn't play, would you start Mitrovic vs City away and bench Shaw?
Or would you use a FT to replace him? I don't think he'll be out for too long.
And if Walcott is out, would you get Maddison or wait a GW and get Richarlison?

Just feels like the kind of game that Fulham won't get many goal attempts and Mitro could get a YC out of frustration. On the other hand, his form is fantastic.

Fulham are an attacking side and Mitro is the main man for them so he will get chances.

I think he has turned the corner with regards to discipline

Our teams are so similar! 11/15 players the same. The only differences are the 2 goal keepers and Fraser/Wilson -> Mkhi/Ings

I'm considering Maddison as I have both Mkhi/ Walcott at risk as well as Shaw. For you I'd probably save FT and get Richarlison next week

      Also I would play Mitro

    GW5
    Hart
    Alonso, Robertson, Mendy
    DSilva, Hazard, Mane, Maddison,
    Deeney, Aguero, Ings

Subs : Hamer, AWB, Bennett, Holberg

    2.5 ITB

    GW6
Salah in for Hazard and captain against Southampton

    GW7
Richarlison in for Salah with Aguero captain at home Brighton

    G8

Better plan is to not plan I think 😉 Look to get Salah for GW 9, if you need to prepare funds for that move beforehand fine, but leaving more FT available will let you be reactive to the situation.

Agree with this completely, Robbo gets forward so much and is such a quality player, plus Spurs haven't looked incredible and Pool's defence is looking tight this season. Palace looking kinda shaky, so even against Huddersfield I'm not taking the gamble of playing AWB over Robbo.

Dislike using always here...I also got burnt week 1 not playing Mendy but I didn't quite realise how good he'd be attacking wise and in hindsight it was a mistake.

Robertson isn't quite Mendy when it comes to attacking threat though even though he's still been very good in that aspect but if I had a defender that had a better than evens chance of getting a CS this week and some attacking threat I'd be playing them over Robertson regardless of them being cheaper. Palace CS odds not quite good enough for W-B but I'd play PVA over Robertson. Wolves CS odds are very good and I'd probably play Doherty over Robertson.

Robertson isn't Mendy - however he's not far off! 'Possibility' of non-returning v Spurs of course, however is a premium player, meaning premium potential returns in all games he's picked (for the moment at least. Stronger likelihood of him being rotated less compared to Mendy in coming weeks.

United fan here and I wouldn't go for Lingard, wait until him and United show better form. Maddison has the best combo of fictures + form + nailedness for me personally. Ramsey def worth monitoring too though, him or Lingard could be a good move in a couple of weeks.

It was nice, but it was also against a Burnley side looking very depleted at this early stage of the season due to Europe. Could be worth the punt, if you feel it in your gut just go for it, this game punishes indecision more than anything.

On a WC and settled on this team, thoughts?

    Patricio (Hamer)
    Robertson Alonso Mendy (Holebas, AWB)
    Hazard, Mane, D.Silva Maddison, Fraser
    Auba Ings (Mitrovic)

The benched players are just for this week. I like this team because I have the flexibility of playing different formations and I get more spread coverage than I had prior (was on 3 pool, 3 city). I like getting a piece of Arsenal for their fixtures (and they have to score goals to win because their defense is shocking), had Aguero before but think Silva and Auba will get enough returns to justify this. I've gone Hazard over Salah because he looks in better form and the funds let me have Alonso and Holebas at the back, as well as a more solid midfield overall. Maddison I think is going to be in the points, I had him orginally and shipped him for Walcott for last GW... obviously backfired majorly and I like his fixtures.

I'm scared of Aguero and Salah but my last couple of weeks have been abysmal and I fancy going without for some excitement.

Augero is an easy swap in as I have .6 ITB. I'm aware of the risk, I'll be hiding behind my sofa but the way I see it is I captained Kun's 20-pointer so I got value from him already, why not risk on Auba since he's finally scored and see if he can keep on with their good fixtures? Don't fancy 2 premium forwards at this moment in time.

Both good options, going Maddison myself but think the potential risk of Moura probably has more reward if it pans out, so it's a question of how risky you feel. Having said that, Maddison doesn't tend to play 90 anyway so that's sometimes a dampener for him, as well as him not always taking all the set pieces.

This, ignoring the rest of your team, based purely on the two players, Mane for sure.

How important is Hazard going forward? Worth losing Salah or Mané to get him in?

I've dropped Salah for him, but it remains to be seen if that will be worth it. He's looking in fine form and I think this could be his season to get back to the top, but he's trolled us all before so it's hard to say. All I know is that I fancy him in a Sarri team more than I have the past few seasons, and Salah has not looked in top form yet, though he's been getting the points still. It's a hard one to call, I'm taking the risk on Hazard because I'm not happy with 130k. It really depends on how you feel about it, this kind of thing is one you have to evaluate for yourself in the end.

Very difficult to get all three in your team. I’ve got rid of Salah for Hazard and kept Mané. Scared now Salah has just scored 2 for Egypt though!

Nigeria were poor, Salah missed a pen.

Nigeria v Egypt was not the match. Egypt played the team that don’t have ‘ia’ at the end

I think you could hold the trio of Aguero, Salah and Hazard for the season and do very, very well.

This. I'm just waiting anxiously for Mane to lose his PL form. Strangely tho, Mane and Salah almost started exactly like this last season. Only Salah is 13m now

I like both Salah and Mane and started the season with both. If I were to WC, however, I would only carry one: Salah.

Mane is a placeholder to enable future alternation between say Hazard and Salah. It's frustrating as a planning FFL player, middle term may have to be brave and instead choose between Hazard and Salah.

He's not important. He's a luxury player. He's not consistent enough to be important at that price. At 10.7 you would want a captain option. Any player with any experience of owning Hazard in the past will know he's not worth a captain risk. I much prefer Salah and Mane until I think it's going to hurt me and he's showing consistency and shooting more.

One more question: played my WC and feel i have to get Laca or Auba in my team given their fixtures and Arsenal’s attacking style.

    A) Auba, Bennett, Seri
    B) Laca, Fraser, Holebas

No, not nailed. Pereira, Gray, Albrighton, Chilwell (if they play a back-3) all possibles for the wide positions as well.

Could I please get some advice on whether to play my FT? Wildcard already used, currently on:

    Hennessey
    Alonso - Mendy - Robertson - Bennett
    Fraser - Moura - Salah - Hazard
    Aguero - Mitro

Bench: Hamer , Zaha, Wan Bissaka - McTominay

Thinking of shipping out either Zaha (injury) or Moura (due to Son's potential return). Any advice about who you'd bring in?

Or hold off and have two FTs the following week?

Jimenez is the way to go if Zaha is out but probably hold until the pressers. I already did that exact move. I just think burnley are confused at the back atm.

            Yes, closer to A. And,
            - I won't do both Salah and Mane - just Salah;
            - just to be clear, IMHO Aguero, Salah, Hazard and Alonso are "season holds"; and,
            - I'm not a big "0m ITB" fan either. A tiny buffer can come in handy in emergencies,

Sitting on Jesus and Mahrez in draft, would you look to get rid of them both or perhaps keep one?

No other city attacking assets although I am trying to trade the pair for Dilva and Zaha, seem fair?

    Patricio (Stekelenburg)
    Alonso, Robertson, Mendy, Shaw (Wan-Bissaka)
    Salah, Mane, Mkhitaryan, Walcott (Stephens)
    Aguero, Arnautovic (Kamara)

Worth WC to get to this?

    Patricio (HAMER)
    Alonso, Robertson, Mendy (Wan-Bissaka, BENNETT)
    Salah, Mane, MOURA, PEDRO (Stephens)
    Aguero, MITROVIC, WILSON

Don't think the GK or DEF switches are necessary, Walcott may play next week, Pedro's gametime is far from assured, and Wilson is a troll. So not worth IMO.

At all? He'll no doubt feature at times.

Chelsea fans (myself included) were happy with the draw because it was a great chance for Ampadu and Hudson-Odoi to get game time with the first team. Willian - Giroud - CHO used to rest the first team players? Just guessing though.
