Reguilón benched as Gameweek 6 continues to hurt FPL managers

The latest unfortunate turn of events in Gameweek 6 of Fantasy Premier League is a Monday-night benching for Sergio Reguilón (£5.6m).

Over 120,000 Fantasy managers picked up Spurs’ left-back for Gameweek 6, inspired by his role in the 6-1 win at Old Trafford and the 3-3- draw with West Ham.

However, Jose Mourinho had other plans, selecting Ben Davies (£4.8m) on the left-hand side of his back-four at Burnley.

Serge Aurier (£5.2m) has suffered the same treatment, replaced at right-back by Matt Doherty (£5.8m).

Thankfully, the rest of the Spurs team lines up mostly as we expected with the heavily backed pairing of Harry Kane (£10.9m) and Son Heung-min (£9.5m) selected at centre-forward and left-wing respectively.

All eyes will be on the right-hand side of Burnley’s defence tonight as Matt Lowton (£4.4m) comes in for his first start of the season.

His preparation for this match has not been ideal as he only recently returned to training from a knee injury, forced into action against Spurs with Phil Bardsley (£4.5m) and Gameweek 5 stand-in Erik Pieters (£4.4m) missing out.

Ben Mee (£4.9m) remains absent so Kevin Long (£4.5m) is James Tarkowski‘s (£5.4m) centre-back partner once again as Charlie Taylor (£4.5m) continues his extended run as the first-choice left-back.

Burnley XI (4-4-2): Pope; C Taylor, Tarkowski, K Long, Lowton; McNeil, Brownhill, Westwood, Gudmundsson; Wood, A Barnes.

Tottenham Hotspur XI (4-2-3-1): Lloris; B Davies, Dier, Alderweireld, Doherty; Højbjerg, Sissoko; Son, Ndombele, Moura; Kane.

                Benching points is never fun, but would have benched Justin myself.

                At least not as bad as my benching of Saïss GW1 with his 15 points that week. Still don’t understand how I managed to bench him vs SHU...

                Does not look likely that I reach my goal of top 5k this year after a poor start... 85 points points behind top 10k already.

    Some people on here are so fickle! Spurs have scored the most goals in the league this year and just because they come up against a bus the size of Lancashire at turf moor it’s Jose this and Kane that.

      How have they scored those goals? Against two capitulated defences. They cannot unlock a tight defence and has been the case for a very long time. I like Spurs but would never flirt with captaincy in a fixture such as this

        I am not disagreeing with you, the counter and running in behind is their style and that’s that. I don’t get why you would cap a spurs player in this fixture. It’s tough going to turf moor and I’m not surprised at how it is panning out

    At this point it's become comical. I've never had an OR lower than 3m before, yet it's looking like I'll end up at 5m this week, after a few weeks around 4m. Still, it's going to be fun trying to climb up the ranks. It can't really get any worse.

      It's the most extraordinary start to a season in recent years. The players I usually dominate in my leagues are the ones dominating. It's all polar opposite currently and I feel many regular players like you are experiencing the same thing. As you say, the challenge and fun to climb up the ranks....makes it all the more sweeter, a real battle, good luck with the war!

    It's a bad GW but no need to panic. Salah came close, Pool should have had a CS, Grealish had a shot cleared off the line, Wolves conceded late and Everton saw red. It could have been very different. Expect things will improve next GW.
