FPL’s most-owned player in action as leaders Spurs take on unchanged Palace

Fantasy Premier League’s top two points scorers are in action at Selhurst Park this afternoon in the second of five matches to take place on Sunday.

Kick-off is at 14:15 GMT.

Son Heung-min (£9.6m), FPL’s newly crowned most-owned player, and Harry Kane (£10.9m) have already plundered 198 points between this season and both start, as expected, in south London.

Jose Mourinho has made only one change to his line-up from the side that defeated Arsenal last weekend, with Tanguy Ndombele (£5.9m) replacing Giovani Lo Celso (£6.9m).

Gareth Bale (£9.4m) isn’t part of the visitors’ matchday squad but Dele Alli (£7.4m) makes the bench, having been out in the cold on the domestic front since Gameweek 4.

Bale is apparently absent through illness.

The Palace team news is even more straightforward, with Roy Hodgson unsurprisingly naming the same starting XI that thrashed West Bromwich Albion in Gameweek 11.

Tyrick Mitchell (£4.0m) was sent home from training on Friday with an illness and misses out, although the budget FPL defender has only made Hodgson’s 18-man squad once since Gameweek 6 anyway.

Along with Kane and Son, Wilfried Zaha is among the top five FPL players for points per match.

The Ivory Coast international averages exactly 8.0 points per game in 2020/21, with three double-digit hauls to his name already – although all of those have come away from home.

A further 287,699 FPL managers brought Zaha into their squads ahead of Friday’s deadline and the Palace talisman is already the most-bought player of Gameweek 13, too.

Crystal Palace XI: Guaita, Clyne, Kouyaté, Cahill, Van Aanholt, Schlupp, McArthur, Milivojevic, Eze, Zaha, Benteke.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris, Aurier, Alderweireld, Dier, Reguilon, Hojbjerg, Sissoko, Ndombele, Bergwijn, Son, Kane.

    I see people lightly mocking those who sold Son/Kane because of fixtures.

    Thus far since GW9 (when Spurs' fixtures turned) Son has 30 points, Kane 23

    Meanwhile Bruno has 30 and KDB has 29. And those who captained KDB and Bruno for their obvious captainable fixtures got more value from those points than they would from any Son/Kane scored, as they almost certainly wouldn't have captained them. And KDB/Bruno continue to have better and more captainable for the next three gameweeks too.

    People have to get past this idea that players getting some points *automatically* means selling them was a failure.

      Exactly. My Kane to KDB move for GW10 has since netted me 16 pts considering I would’ve captained Bruno instead of KDB the last two weeks if I didn’t have him.

      This was the justification most sellers had. It wasn’t like they (I/we) were naive in thinking they would stop scoring just that other players had better fixtures for the next 5-6 games

      I think what has to be considered is their price, that 2-3m saving in picking Son/Kane over other ‘premiums’ allows for significant upgrades elsewhere.

        In Son's case that's true, he's amazing value.

        In Kane's case though he's the same price as Bruno, who has outscored him over that period despite coming on in half time in one of the games.

        I'm not saying holding on to them can't have worked either but the assumption that it was a mistake getting rid is silly.

        Especially as it's not really about Kane v Bruno anyway, but rather Kane + X vs Bruno + Y. That X/Y part makes a huge difference if it's, for example, swapping Foden for Bamford.

          Solid analysis.

          What it boils down to me is 2 things:

          1) Goal involvement for Spurs -> Son and Kane are likely to be involved in 85%-90% of their goals, similar in how Ings/Jimenez are such reliably consistent good picks

          2) Penalties -> Penalties have had a massive say this season, and with Spurs having had only one so far, you have to fancy Kane to further increase his already high ceiling.

          With point 2 Bruno probably exceeds this I guess, luckily at his price you can easily fit in all 3.

      Exactly my thoughts - happy with the points from captaining Vardy, KDB, Salah & Fernandes.
      Saying that I now have Son back in place of Fernandes & he’s out scoring him - no hurry to get Fernandes back as Ole will play him to exhaustion

      Good points. But those who have not sold Kane/Son (I have kept both) have been able to make other transfers instead. And with so many injuries, positive tests etc. these transfers have been necessary. So arguably you should factor into your numbers -8pts for 2 hits.

        Yep, that's true too.

        I'm definitely not saying keeping Son/Kane was a mistake. In a lot of ways it depends on the rest of your team too. It could easily have been a better move for some people to keep. Especially in the case of Son, who has outscored Kane, matched KDB & Bruno and is the cheapest big hitter.

        Though ironically it was a goal from Kane (who has scored less than those alternatives and is as expensive as at least some of them) that prompted the "lol people sold because of fixtures" comments.

    It hurts having to decide between being upgrading Son (with value tied in him) to Bruno and use the cash to spread among team, Grealish (with great fixtures and value tied in him) to Bruno having to play Soucek every week or go without Bruno

                Fair enough. I have owned both since the start and find it har to get rid as i'm sitting at 6k. Can't fit everyone I guess. For me kdb is hard to find room for atm. Actually considering Salah > Kdb as a week punt. But not sure. Could go either way. Bruno and the Spurs guys are staying for now.

                  That’s exactly what I had to decide on - a salah kdb Hokey Cokey or losing Kane for 4gws and went with latter but might’ve been the wrong decision! Especially as I might captain Bruno now after watching sheff Utd game earlier.

                    Thanks. Got off to a flying start with DCL and a few other differentials. And have tried to be patient this season. Not switch around too much on the heavy hitters. Bruno is defo captain material next gw so might just go with him and hide behind the sofa for Citys game.

        Can't quite remember the details but Cesc Fàbregas came on as a 2nd half substitute for Arsenal and scored unbelievable points before going off injured.

      Anyone else stupid like me in not owning Son or Kane? I stupidly have Werner still thinking he will come good. After the Liverpool game I can do Werner to Kane for free, should i do it?
