We round up the key Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points from Leicester City v Manchester United in our Scout Notes summary.

The graphics below are taken from LiveFPL, Ragabolly’s excellent and ever-improving website, and our own Premium Members Area.

Jadon Sancho’s (£7.3m) first-half goal was the difference for Manchester United at the King Power Stadium, as a fragile Leicester City succumbed to a 1-0 defeat.

Sancho’s winner – a slick finish after a clinical breakaway involving Marcus Rashford (£6.3m) – means that he has produced two goals in his last three appearances.

“I am very happy for Jadon Sancho. He scored many goals in pre-season, now also he scores against Liverpool and today. He is getting his rewards. But it was a team goal, how we built it up from the back. It was a transition moment, a good pass and finish.” – Erik ten Hag

United are now up to fifth in the table after their third win in a row and are making progress as they get to grips tactically with Erik ten Hag’s demands.

Indeed, since losing their two opening games in such disastrous fashion, they have hit back with an impressive home win over Liverpool and ground-out 1-0 wins at Southampton and Leicester.

That’s coincided with back-to-back clean sheets, with Diogo Dalot (£4.4m) the pick of their defenders. The right-back claimed maximum bonus for a second successive Gameweek on Thursday and has created more chances (nine) than any other United player this season.

“The defensive skill is the base for winning games. It makes you hard to beat. We have to stick to that. I know we can be better. We were already better than at Southampton. I am sure we will improve on that fact. Pressing also needs room for improvement.” – Erik ten Hag

Gameweek 6 sees United host Arsenal before their UEFA Europa League campaign gets underway next week.

As for Leicester, they have now suffered four straight Premier League defeats and failed to win any of their opening five matches.

In that time, they have conceded 11 goals – only Bournemouth have allowed more – and to make matters worse, have lost key centre-halve Wesley Fofana (£4.4m) to Chelsea.

The Foxes have surprisingly conceded fewer shots than Brighton and Hove Albion this season, but are giving up far too many big chances, as highlighted below.

Above: only Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest have conceded more big chances than Leicester City this season

Brendan Rodgers will be hoping new signing Wout Faes (£4.5m), Reims player of the season last year, will help tighten them up.

So will Danny Ward’s (£4.0m) FPL owners, who have seen the budget ‘keeper average just 1.2 points per match across his five starts.

“We are disappointed with the goal. We were too open from the ball back – you have to close the game up in that moment. That’s the naivety within the squad.

The players kept going and gave everything but we lacked that craft and quality in the final third. I know we had James Maddison back, but that is not enough. They gave everything but it wasn’t enough.

Wardy [Danny Ward] has done great since coming in. When the ball goes back he needs angles from the centre-half and the centre-midfield player that can come back to pick the ball up, but when he chooses to clear it obviously he had to make sure he does that.” – Brendan Rodgers

“It is a poor start, that is the reality for us. We have circumstances that haven’t helped us, that is for sure. We won’t hide, I certainly won’t as it is my responsibility. We need to pick up our results. The window closing hopefully brings that focus and mentality back as one. We keep fighting. We just lack quality and we weren’t able to do anything about that in the window.” – Brendan Rodgers

Leicester City XI (4-3-3): Ward; Justin, Ndidi, Evans, Thomas; Soumare, Tielemans (Iheanacho 76), Dewsbury-Hall; Maddison, Barnes, Vardy (Daka 87)

Manchester United XI (4-2-3-1): de Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; McTominay, Eriksen; Elanga (Casemiro 59), Fernandes, Sancho (Ronaldo 68); Rashford (Fred 87)

wouldn't say he'd be a hard avoid, Arsenal are a really good team at those games against the big boys could be high scoring thrillers for all we know, i'd say their defense will be a hard avoid though for sure

He is on my radar - Marsch has had really positive things to say about him and Leeds fans seem to think he is top choice for right flank to support Bamford.

I am holding Rodrigo for another week and then decide what to do with him. But Sinisterra is a possibility.

i'd probably bench Cucurella for him this week as i don't trust Chelsea defense atm and you have James too, its better to spread the risk i think

This is a good point. As a West Ham fan I usually always start whoever plays against us. If we win, I'm a happy boy IRL. If we lose, I know my fantasy team as done well. Every cloud, right? 😀

@Bankst. Agreed, but I'm more concerned about his "knock" than how he will play. I liked him a lot against Liverpool and I think he'll be the main man for NEW.

I really like Sterling, just don't think I have the balls to get him. I did tip him for doing well with these fixtures. As much as people slate him I think he's a top player who can score goals.

Do I want to lose Robbo & Diaz? Bit of a risk, also don't like the troll that is Toney.

    Guys,

Could use some of your opinions. I'm in a draft league and we do waivers (add/drop) each week. Gameweek 6 is the first week all of the new signings are available. I'll have third choice. Who would you take and why? Unfortunately the first team has picked and they took Isak.

    If available, should I take:

    A) Antony
    B) Aubameyang
    C) Paqueta

    Thanks for your help!!!

Think I agree, Auba, Antony then Paq.

Hi - just for context, this is a draft league, so we're not playing the 'official' fantasy game. We did 20 rounds of a draft and 10 teams selected ~18 players each.

Person in last place (as of Gameweek 5) picked first during this week's waivers period and took Isak. I'm third in the waivers/add/drop order.... so i'll be looking at Antony, Auba and Paqueta as available to add to my team (I'll drop some under-performing player). Thanks for you input!

I am starting Saliba but only because I have double Arsenal defence.

I benched Saliba vs Fulham and got it right that Mitro would score but then Saliba got an assist and 2 bonus 🙂

This is very true, may have to work a way to get Cancelo back down the line.
Double Chelsea it is then this week and maybe roll the FT, bench Rodrigo and have 2FT for next week

Cancelo's numbers really do not look good, irrespective of the goal het got this week. 7m too much for a player which does not get to share his assists which he is renowned for.

Maybe things might change but I can put the 7m to better use at this point.

Definitely agree, I got rid of him before the Forest game (maybe prematurely) for these very reasons. I’d had enough of not even baseline cleanie’s the last two games previous, so got rid along with Ederson, bit foolish of me spending that much on a keeper. I’ll stand still on this one then. Cheers Foo!

Haaland captain this GW by the way?
I can see it now, the week I don’t stay faithful to Salah he’ll bag a hatty this time.

If I was getting defender around 5M that would definitely be Trippier.
This GW I'm playing Neco over Saliba. Probably, this is best fixture Neco will have all season...

Cheers man, yeah certainly a plum fixture for Neco this GW, Trippier I removed on a WC couple GW’s ago but he’s easily got back I guess, definitely a worthy replacement for Cucurella, just dunno if I’d do it now or do it from when they have West Ham

Perhaps but Pep is saying different things about Haaland every GW so I don't want to end up with Alvarez on my bench.

So perhaps by Spurs, if both start again it would be nice to own both going forward.

Bournemouth got smacked 9-0 by Liverpool, but they can beat Nottingham Forest.

Martinelli is a premier player on a premier team, MU can beat Arsenal but that does not mean they will shut out Arsenal. Also, in a Marquee matchup, you won't see Martinelli rested or lose intensity.

But if play Neco, you will probably be getting differential should he do something big. He will pop a goal soon.

Emerson is a write off tbh. Swap him for saliba(if you got him at 4.5) and that's a good defense for the price.

Yeah amazing how people were so set on big on the back at the start of the season and now conversation had pivoted towards this a few weeks later!

This so called GW 9 fixture swing where most seem to be targeting their WC.. who exactly are people targeting for removal?

Considering arsenal play all their tough fixtures at home I'm pretty sure IL stick with Martinelli and Jesus. Saliba may go though

Brighton have 1 tough fixture ie Liv but I won't have any issue keeping Sanchez and Gross for TOT, bre, NFO

Liverpool have some tough fixtures though so maybe replacing their premiums could be an option. I can't see myself selling taa or Salah though.

Right now I'm struggling to even utilise my FTs lol

I haven't needed to take a hit as far and have a solid/template team which I could continue for a longer time.

Reasons for a gw8 wildcard though is that's the point where Liverpool and Arsenal's fixtures get tougher and want to only have 2 or 3 assets instead of the 5 or 6 most of us already have. It's also a good starting point to jump on players like Mitrovic, Trippier/Isak and Bowen who have good fixture runs.

I also want to move Salah to Kane and the way the fixtures fall, I think gw8 is the best time to restructure the squad

I agree its hard to make transfers right now because all top teams have good fixtures and that makes the template strong.
So GWs 9-16 IMO, are the games to go for differentials rather than now.

Take a punt on Maddison, Mitrovic, Solanke, Zaha, etc....

I'm just glad I can play Ward over Sanchez in GW9 and GW13 (NFO and wol vs liv and mcy). May even use him in GW10(bought vs TOT).

Leeds have such an efficient transfer policy. They know exactly what they need.
Got sinisterra and Aaronson in to replace raphinha and even let go of James.

    That attack of
    Harrison Sinisterra Aaronson
    Bamford

Is really quite good. And with Rodrigo back in a few weeks they'll have good cover to handle rotation too since he can play in both mid and as cover for Bamford

Unlike some other teams who just throw 3 players at every spot hoping 1 sticks lol. Their scouts should be given a bonus.
