So, this is my 2nd draft

    Rmsdale, Areola
    TAA, Estu, Shaw (Udogie, Bell)
    Saka, Martineli, Rash, Mitoma (Baptiste)
    Haaland, Nkunku, Wissa

    1. I think that Udogie will be great differential for 4.5
    2. Need to wait and see Foden
    3. Need to monitoring Nkinku more
    4. Really want Enciso, but so far he is huge rotation risk, coz of Pedro and Lallana

Outside of KdB and Haaland, City players are such a hard sell, owing to not knowing whether or not they're going to start. If Foden was going to be nailed on, he'd probably be in my team, but I'd rather have a player who I can be confident is going to be starting every game.

I need to decide on my keeper, not sure on Flekken and I'll have Raya if he remains in the premier league.

Or maybe Henderson if he moves?

    Any feedback on these...

    Johnstone
    Porro, Saliba, Estu
    Salah, Saka, Eze, Rashford, Foden
    Haaland, João Pedro

    Travers. Young, Baldock, Simms.

I'll probably get one of Mee, Pinnock or Henry back if I don't have a Brentford keeper too.

I am avoiding Brighton's defence (and Spurs) unless they sign some more def/mid, but it is nice. I would go Chilwell/Henry over Porro/Estu to start with.

Porro and Estu are in largely for attacking returns. Shaw would be my go to on clean sheets and assists.

Chilwell is a watching brief but him and James are just a transfer waiting to happen as well as hauls...

James Benge: "Al Hilal offering €300m transfer fee to PSG. In addition to this they are prepared to offer Mbappe a salary package of €700m over one year, after which he would be free to depart for Real Madrid should he so wish."

In which case, yes, what the ****?!!! To be frank, I can't blame him if he takes the money, knowing he can earn in one year, what would otherwise take several years. He'll still make the Euro 2024 squad, and can then jog on to Real. Depressing as hell.

      And for only one year.
That's 31.8 Euros per second, by my reckoning.

      1000000000 / 52 / 7 / 24 / 60 / 60 = 31.8

More than double that if you only include hours worked, but I think Mbappe will be working for their brand 24/7 tbf. We don't know if the figures are correct and will actually be exchanged, though.

But I do find it strange that this is what it takes for some people to realise how much money certain powers have - nations, corporations, dynasties, and so how innately corrupt, unjust and unhealthy 'the world' and its people are as a result of this machine running on autopilot all this time.

              Mbappe = 75kg
              1kg of gold = 57,000 EUR
              75kg of gold = 4,275,000 EUR

Mbappe Salary = 700000000 per year
              Per minute = 700000000 / 52 / 7 / 24 / 60 = 1335.47

              4,275,000 / 1335.47 = 3201 minutes
              3201 mins = 53 hours

Ignoring the ethics for one second. Let's be real. If you got paid nearly 2 million euros a frickin day, then your main interests that year are developing a portfolio property, just buying chunks of Paris. Playing football in a sandpit in front of nobody on a Saturday morning is just an inconvenience. That isn't a player that is going to try, it's a player that will turn up and clock watch until the year is over and they can join RM.

If this is the grand vision of PIF then they are welcome to it.

      1. Deulofail
        • 10 Years

I don't think this is the grand vision. Showing they are an existential threat to (the integrity of) European football might be a better reason to claim this headline. Could get them a seat or two at a super league table.

      1. Catastrophe
        • 15 Years

Yeah, fair point. Providing no unexpected benchings I would probably be playing Estupinan anyway GW 1-4 (LUT-wol-WHU-NEW) and then Botman in 5 (BRE when Estupinan has mun).

Could be an option to go without, but you could end up in a pickle especially with BOU GW2. TAA is almost a cert for me, perhaps a little on the pricey side but less of a (value) 'risk' than Salah IMO.

I don't fully get this sort of article - most on here having being playing FPL for a few years and this article doesn't really help us.

I would like to see each "pro pundit" partnered with a regular poster on here to see a comparison in performance throughout the season. A monthly or so article written by the "expert" Vs the "amateur" would be great fun.

Sorry Deulo, I might have been wrong about your "tone" there. I just didn't want to be dragged into some debate where I have to pore over old articles to justify exactly what is that I find good about his writing. But I appreciate that you have been more positive & not so combative lately. And hopefully this article is a good demonstration of the kind of writing I was relatively criticising

I don't think FFS would mind. But I don't think any "pro pundits" would do it as it might end up being slightly embarrassing for them. To me it'd be great content for FFS.

He has apologised for a stupid mistake, but he’s still benefiting from the rank, which is shameful. All content creators are welcome. What we already have is a 'community regular' pitching in to challenge the "experts" Scout Picks every week. To be honest, I don't know how they compare as I have no interest, same as I'd have no interest following the fortunes of average posters like myself.

That competition is artificial though because the “winner” at the end of the season is the challenger who beats Scout by the most points. I did it one week last season - the only sensible strategy if you want to be the overall winner is to go massively differential when it’s your week.

Agree Dunster - but rather than the one week challenge Andy highlights I'd like to see a season long challenge between the "pros" and us "amateurs"
I've never entered the Scout Picks challenge as it's not a reflection of your team or how you play the game

Don't understand the criticism this article seems to be getting..We all probably know this stuff, yes..but this serves
    1. As a valuable checklist to have the essential tips for success in one place which can be really beneficial for newer players.
    2. I have seen on multiple occasions even the more experienced managers get carried away by allegiances to their clubs and make sub optimal transfers, so there is something for everyone in here I'd say.

There's nothing wrong with the article at all. Also it's from a guest writer, it is not likely to slow down the output of Members/Premium content.

The fact is there are new players every single season and that's who this article is aimed at.

Would fit perfectly if the site had a 'New to FPL' section.

The Pro Pundits are signing up to rehash articles that this site has written 100 times already just to get the content out. Probably one a year is enough unless they are actually adding something new.

Haha! You're right. To be fair these days I just click on the most recent article, skim or read and dive into the comments. This one was a skimmer for me.

There is the odd nuance I suppose.

Maybe would have been better if they pricked 10 key tips and then got a different 'Pro Pundit' to write an article counting through the top 10 tips each week building up to the season. As like you say, a lot of the tips between these two articles are repetitive.

        2. Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo
          • 5 Years

          Precisely this.
The issue isn't the article. It's that both this and the Focal article Deulo linked scream "We paid your (higher) subscription fees to recruit some bigger names to write some pieces. uhhh but we don't know what to do now, so can General and FF just knock up a quick and meaningless article in an afternoon.

There are friendlies going on right now that could be analysed deeply and give the users of this site some real insight.* Instead, we are fed stuff like this article, which is good for noobs but the noobs aren't going to be here in July. Quantity over quality is the model now sadly (generally, not just FFS).

In my mind it comes down to, are these articles blocking writing time for other 'in depth' content, or are they just extra content.

Focal/General may not have been interested in writing anything which requires research. They might not even be getting paid for it. It's probably a collaboration to promote their own channels.

Without being aware of Scouts article schedule/plan it's hard to be too judgemental in my opinion (non paying member of course...)

    £6.5/£6.0m midfielders

9 teams with potentially good options. Most teams are ones you would want to catch on a good fixture run rather than 'set and forget'. Potential for some decent price rises / catch a bandwagon.

I might even start with two slots for these I like them so much.

Aston Villa - Diaby, Ramsey, Buendia
    Brentford - Mbuemo
    Brighton - Gross, March, Mitoma
    Chelsea - Mudryk
    Crystal Palace - Eze, Olise
    Liverpool - Mac Allister
    Newcastle - Almiron, Barnes
    Nottingham - Johnson, Gibbs White
    West Ham - Benrahma, Paqueta

It's natural for teams to concede more in pre season.

When players know it's not serious the first thing they get lax on is marking a man, putting their all into tracking back etc. It's human nature.

Liverpool going and slaughtering some random German lower tier team does nothing for either teams brand image imo, don't know how much that filters down into the players though.

The first half side dimply lacked match sharpness - nothing significant to note. The second half defence looked a mess - Matip and Gomez should be nowhere near the first team. Any injuries to the first choice keeper or back 4 will be devastating as things stand.
Salah and Darwin did look sharp and combined well - want to see more of that against proper opposition in the coming days.

Absolutely not. Question is game time, but at his price point he will very much play into our thoughts.

Problem is Brighton have Wellbeck, Fergusson, Mitoma, March, Enciso who will all be competing for starts. I foresee Pedro being used in LW, ST, AM and RW positions - hard to say how regular he will be.

    1) Macallister (where will he fit in to Liverpool formation)
    2) Diaby (fancy villa for top 6)
    3) Havertz (rotation risk but can he outscore Jesus)
    4) Mudryk (poch seems to be ready to give him his chance)

Picking Diaby would leave me 6.5 for 5th midfielder, with an attack of haaland, Jesus and n'kunku.

    On this.

Said all summer I think getting the right two Liverpool attackers will be key. I think they’ll score loads. Thoughts?

    Onana
    TAA Saliba Estupinan
    Rashford Saka Diaz Mbeumo
    Haaland Darwin Wissa

      Liverpool is tough.

They play with 3 attackers you are probably interested in. Typically their CM 3 are not really fantasy options.

Of the 3 attacking positions you have 5 genuine quality options. One of which is Salah.

So realistically, you have LW and ST to choose from. You have 4 options who are all very similar in levels of quality. They will rotate heavily.

Unless there are injuries I personally think they've reached Man City levels of 'roulette'. They're just not options for me.

The one who is tempting, but also the most expensive, is Jota. He has shown in the past over long periods of time that he can do damage when coming off the bench.

It’s tricky but I am going to try and give me the best chance to predict correctly, including having 1.0m ITB to rectify for example if Jota becomes a starter.

The fact it’s a tough question will deter most from doing it, and therefore I see big opportunities there.

I don't think any will become a starter though, that's what I'm trying to say

Wissa to Vinícius and Mbuemo to Foden imo.

I think Mbeumo and Wissa is safer, and I’m after safe because I’ve gone risky with choosing pool players.

That being said, Vinicius could be a great option now; Foden I’m not all convinced on until I see what City do in the market; KdB is now back too.

Agree but for me its Salah + one riskier like Diaz/Jota. And no Trent. But I think I've suggested this to you before... 😀

        You have yes!

Don’t think you can go wrong with either option. Salah is safer, but is 12.5m which is a huge amount which I can’t get myself to spend on considering the value of Gakpo/Jota/Darwin/Diaz

Sad, too young. I remember when he was the most expensive player in the world.

Also won the European cup and scored in the final that first season and retained it the following season, albeit I think Francis missed the final.
