Reposting in full. My outfield players watchlist for this preseason:

    Def:
    8.0 - TAA
5.5 - Chilwell, James, Shaw, Stones
5.0 - Gabriel, Estupinan, Ake, Zinchenko, Porro
4.5 - Cash, Botman, Badiashile, Colwill, Wan Bissaka

    Mid:
    12.5 - Salah
9.0/8.5 - Saka, Rashford, Bruno, Son
8.0/7.5 - Martinelli, Foden, Maddison, Grealish
7.0/6.5 - Sterling, Mitoma, Gross, Mbeumo
6.0 under - MacAllister, Paqueta, Madueke, Brownhill

    Fwd:
    14.0 - Haaland
8.0/7.5 - Jesus, Nkunku, Gakpo, Darwin
7.0 under - Ferguson, DCL, Wissa, Morris

There are quite a few players not on the list who I think are FPL viable but because of a combination of bad opening fixtures, and rotation risk means I will be very unlikely to go for them (Isak comes to mind as such a pick).

When you narrow it down like that, it's actually pretty crazy to see how few players are in genuine contention to make the starting XV. 40 players and realistically, the list is more like 20-25 once team structure is taken into account.

No interest in Enciso? Think he’ll be deployed in the 10 role following Mac Allister’s departure.

5.5 for enciso is a steal , he was class in the 7 games he played with 4 goals and 3 assists

It's a good point and gives you an extra 1m over the £6.5m guys to spend elsewhere.

Joao Pedro's main position is also the No. 10 position. Don't think Enciso gets regular minutes unfortunately.

Yeah he will be competetion. But I suspect he'll probably get the sort of mins (mainly off the bench, and in a variety of positions) that Enciso did last season. But just a guess, keeping a close eye on it

I'm not as high on Enciso as some others.

I think the forward positions are quite up for grabs at Brighton and just don't think he'll be nailed on to start.

In fact, I reckon they'll go Mitoma, March, Pedro, Ferguson mostly so there wouldn't be a spot for him. Of course, this could change but I'm not super keen on picking a rotation risk as my 5th mid.

Paqueta is on pens for 6.0m for a West Ham team that improved a lot at the tail end of the season and he's a lot more nailed.

Eh it'll just be a list of 4.5m GKs. Pickford, Flekken, Areola/Fabianski etc. It's just unexciting and it'll become apparent towards the end who to go for I think.

I am biased, but hardly ever pick Palace players.

I wish i picked Eze instead of Macallister , but bottles it.

I won't be doing that again

May also go for Johnstone as the GK, as he got 140 points for WBA, and 4.0 points per game last season

I worry even for Estu if Brighton doesn't get a couple of defensive midfielders, pronto.

I think the Mount pick is interesting and could work well but you'd probably stretch to Rashford given the choice.

Strong bench. But why Ederson in goal over say Alisson?

Yeah, fair enough. I just think Allison gets more clean sheets.

You're not going to pick Rodri but i might start with Foden.

Can always switch him into Mount and spend the change elsewhere.

I don't mind the Kane and Mount picks, but you've left too much money on the bench.

As an example, you could downgrade Ederson, Leno, Henry and Mac Allister to Steele, Aréola, a 4m defender and a 4.5m midfielder. That's enough to upgrade Enciso to Mbeumo and DCL to Jesus, or Enciso to Rashford/Son.

Thoughts / improvements on this draft?

    —————-Pickford—————
    -- TAA - Mings - Est - Stones —
    Mitoma - Saka - Enciso - Salah
    ———- Jesus - Haaland ———

Depending on preseason performances, i may swap to a 3 at the back and bring in a liverpool striker over Salah but at the moment i feel like Salah will continue to try and set records next season. A lot of social media posts of him training in his house.

True, but a £4.5m player for Arsenal getting minutes would be handy.

He's said he won't go on loan again so if he stays in the academy he maybe more likely to be sold... I think Brentford had previously offered £8m but I don't know much more.

Think he was the youngest, highest scorer in any European top division last season with 21 goals in 37 games at Reims. He's clearly ready to play first team football.

Can't see him displacing Jesus & Nketiah tbh, and a few cameos will not persuade me to lose Martinelli for him. Its just a loan deal that would have a big FPL effect

He's not up for a loan deal.

Wants first team football. Would he accept a season in the under 23's? He might not have a choice but it's a pivotal point to launch your career.

See what pre-season brings but Arsenal will have the strains of a large squad to manage. Some may rather move than be on the fringes of it.

Nketiah and Nelson are likely ahead of him. Arsenal have 15 midfielders listed.

Won't be a loan deal, only one year left, although if he doesn't leave I am not sure if being a USA international now, what the international transfer rules (compensation) are when a player under 23 is a free agent.

He won't be going for £50m that's for sure this summer.

He looks good, but Lacazzette scored more.

More like £15m, plus lots of add on I'd expect

      1. Deulofail
        • 9 Years

I find their articles hard to read and lacking insight, favouring assumptions over genuine inquisitiveness. I also feel like they talk down to the reader (they are *pros* after all!) rather than humbly enabling them.

For example, I feel like I just wasted 30 seconds trying to understand this:

"There is a thin line between what you hold on to and not from last season and not coming to conclusions too quickly. That said, you can almost definitely hold on to the intrinsic quality and ability of certain players and teams and while FPL outside of two players have been very kind with their pricing, there is certainly a lot of optionality in the top half of the table."

Whether you understand the paragraph or not, you can't say it represents excellence. I haven't gained anything from reading it, that's for sure.

I feel bad saying this, but I think it's fair to say as I don't often read the articles for these reasons.

Does anyone have any inside information about where David Raya will end up? It was my understanding that he was on his way to Man Utd or Spurs, but both clubs have secured other targets.

It just seems strange for Brentford to spend £10m on Flekken if Raya is staying at the club.

I guess they price the cost of being in the premier league.

They seem to be prepared to forgoe say £25m and value his services for the year around £40m. It could just be brinkmanship.

But he says he'll stay and play if he doesn't get a move. So Brentford or Chelsea appear to be the options.

      Others may well know more.

      I read £11m for Flekken.

Brentford are like Spurs in the transfer market.

Bid £20 million for Joachim Anderson, expect the selling club who he has been very successful at to sell under the price they paid for him.
Put a large fee on the players they want to sell. no one will pay £40m for Raya unless Chelsea can sell Kepa (with his wages)

What the different and similarities between Werner and Nkunku?

    Similarities:-

    1. Both from Bundesliga
    2. Both sign from Chelsea while Chelsea usually sign a 'flop'.

    No offence.

Honestly donno much about them and want some insight and proof before I splash my money.

Hardly anything in common beyond those 2 points. And although a wariness about new signings at Chelsea might be prudent, I think some people are taking it too far by lumping him in as some sort of Bundesliga trap

Gotta have a few differences in there.

I'm going to try to stand firm with Isak over Jesus. Can easily see him doing well home to Villa and Liverpool and he can score at Man City too.

Which draft do you like better?

    A)

    Flekken
    TAA Gabriel Estupinan
    Saka Bruno Diaz Mitoma Mbeumo
    Haaland Jesus

    Areola; James, Bell, Simms

    B)

    Flekken
    TAA Shaw Gabriel Estupinan
    Salah Saka Bruno Enciso
    Haaland Wissa

    Areola; Vlasic, Bell, Simms

    2. KieranKA

Prefer B because I like the idea of Salah(C) in GW2 but A is more balanced

In A, I'd downgrade James to a 4m and upgrade Díaz to Son/Rashford. Díaz won't be nailed with Jota, Gakpo and Núñez all fit and available.

In B, I'd downgrade Shaw to a 4.5m (Botman/Colwill/Guéhi) and upgrade Vlasić to an Everton midfielder (Iwobi/McNeil/Doucouré/Gray). If you have Enciso you'll want to have 12 playing players just in case

      1. KieranKA
        • 4 Years

It will look like I have an agenda against the 5.5m players but I don't think they're better value than the 5m options (Gabriel, Estupiñán, Zinchenko)

The minimum cost for a bench is 16.5m, and I don't think you need to carry more than that. Yours costs 19.5m right now.

As a first step you could downgrade Leno and Botman to Aréola and Beyer (or other 4m), which is enough to upgrade Enciso to Mitoma. You could go further by downgrading another defender (say Stones, for example) to 4m and boost Mac Allister to Foden (or keep Mac Allister and start him)

    Ramsdale/Areola
    Trippier/Estupinan/Mings/Botman/Bell
    Saka/Bowen/Gibbs-White/Salah/Soucek
    Nkunku/Wisa/Haaland

    Gibbs-White for the assist potential
Soucek for minutes played & averaging 120 points/season last 3 seasons. (Find me that for 5 or less)
Bowen depending on preseason can become a verity of replacements

You're absolutely right, would probably have to take it on the chin and play 10 (or get the 1-pointer from a 4.5 striker). But it is just so tempting to have all of them I am seriously considering!

You can simply transfer Haaland out for literally any forward in the game. With H being so highly-owned from the off, his price won't rise, so getting him back later would also be easy enough.

      Nice team
You are a fan of the Arsenal attack
