      What's changed?

Because he scored a brace in a closed-doors friendly against SpVgg Greuther Fürth?

Gakpo, Diaz, and Jota are still major threats.

I think he's the starter alongside Diaz and Salah, but there's no question he'll share minutes with Gakpo and Diaz will share them with Jota. Could still be good but with Jesus guaranteed a start its hard to justify.

They still consider themselves as high competitors of some sort, so the goals should naturally spread. Porro as an attacking fullback seems like an exciting pick to me.

I can't see Kane's goals naturally spreading tbh. He's a class above the rest. If he goes, one exciting defender won't point well with the disarray upfront. Of course I may well be wrong.

What the Saudis are doing now with football is a lot like what they did with golf. Throwing money around to gain influence. In golf they created a new tour but now have gained influence with the PGA. What do you think their ambition is with football? Do you think they can do the same thing if a European superleague was to happen? IMO it will take a lot more money to buy into football than it did with golf but they are going to try anyway. That Mbappe bid was a show of strength from them.

I don't think that sportswashing is the main objective TBH. They are asset rich at the moment and the PIF are looking to spread their influence and assets around the world. When oil ceases to be a viable fuel for environmental reasons they need to have something to fall back on. People will always be crazy about sport. During a depression people will turn to sport for escapism and during a boom people will want to enjoy themselves by going to sporting events.

They have to do something with their assets while oil is becoming less and less relevant. I think investing in sport is a sound investment for them. There is an element of sportswashing in it which is a bonus. It would take a huge investment fund to buy a top PL club and look at the return that the Glaziers could get if they sell ManU.

They have plenty to fall back on. Investing in sustainable energy, EVs and recycling. Ironic when they sat on their hands and watched polluters damage land and sea from the plastic products they were happy to overproduce.

Not on a global scale in comparison to football. The people's game. Still seen as a middle class game by many. TV can't really show how tough it is to play at that level. I can barely hit a ball in the direction I want it to go in!

How does comparing sports on a global scale make one sport a sport and not another? You implied that golf is not a sport because it doesn't have the global impact that football does. In comparison to golf the GAA sports have a really low global impact!

Yeah. I had Sterling for a few days until I told myself to cop on. Lovely price but I think it reflects his low potential. I have Son, hoping for a Postecoglou revival in his form and he was decent towards the end of last season.

    Thoughts on Squad:
    Pickford | Areola
    TAA | Gabriel | Estupinan | Ake | Holgate
    Rashford | Saka | Grealish | Mitoma | Mbeumo
    Haaland | Jesus | Semenyo

You could swap Holgate for a playing 4.0. Bell Baldock Beyer eg

My first day of seriously revising draft team after fpl opening day. Any good?

    Ramsdale
    Chilwell, Shaw, Estupinan
    Rashford, Saka, Foden, Mitoma
    Haaland, Jesus, Nkunku

    Heaton, Tarkowski, Bell, Nakamba

No Liverpool is the obvious issue but willing to wait a couple of weeks if any other attacking asset beside Salah gets nailed

19 other teams and plenty of options to get you decent points. Hard to predict how Liverpool will consistently line out and if they'll take Europa seriously at all.

Wait on Chillwell until gw3, same with Nkunku.
Maybe > Stones and Gakpo and Tarkowski on the bench gw1 doesn't make sense.

I’m going without Pool too, Salah is tempting but it leaves my other options in midfield questionable with Salah. Not interested in Pool defence this year again.

get Jesus in for a Chelsea forward and it would be decent., also you have too much money in defense where you don't need to 2 Arsenal, but you'd need to sell one anyway to get Jesus, so its two problems fixed at once 🙂

Chillwell 2 games too soon, needs Arsenal def.
Botman> Baldock or another playing 4.0, and with the .5 Areola > Leno and you'll have rotating keepers
Really like Porro maybe keep him. Imo GL

What do you think of my team?

You can improve it by taking out all the players I haven’t got and putting in the ones I have.

    Pointless RMT season 😀

Ha, I literally just mentioned that in my last comment: https://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2023/07/24/fpl-pre-season-trippier-at-centre-half-wissa-scores-4-5m-midfielders/?hc_page=2&hc_sort_by=comment_date#hc_comment_25941138

Any suggestions I make to a RMT would just turn their team into my team. But I don't want to discourage variation, and independent thought. So I just point out any players who are a minutes risk, or meta strategy like not leaving too much budget on the bench. But I generally ignore them.

Thx that was great. Here's the flip-side, supporting that style. Myself, I'm on the side that says that won't fly in the PL. Too much self-respect. Players will butcher him outside the box and take the yellow before getting dribbled by a keeper.
