Considering Nkunku will play. Which one is better:

    a) Colwill, Mbeumo, Nkunku
    b) Chilwell, Wissa, Jackson

    Then a 4.5 fodder

Starting to think I'll just go with Richarlison if Nkunku is out and bank the change. Have Salah so not keen on Nunez, Jackson might be worthwhile but a bit worried about what the plan for him is if Vlahovic joins. Would love to punt on Trossard but it just feels like it'll be a headache and I'll probably have enough of those with Foden and João Pedro

He means switching from 3-4-3 to 3-5-2.

Funnily enough, I had the same thought after seeing the Nkunku news. No idea who's going to be creating the goals in that Chelsea side with him out, so all attacking assets will suffer while he's out.

Seeing that Jesus seem to have been a shoo-in in a lot of teams, and given that both Nketiah, Trossard and Havertz all come in cheaper, is whoever plays CF for Arsenal vs City an automatic pick for you?

Another potentially starting 4.0 defender …. Trusty has just signed for Sheff Utd from Arsenal for a ‘significant undisclosed fee’ …. a potential starter I suppose.

    1. ⭐ Bemba_Da ⭐
      • 16 Years

true but the teams coming up this season look absolutely dire compared to previous years. Sheff united even losing one of their best players doesn't bode well.

Staying away for now even at 4

Also, this season I don't see the need for 4m def or 4.5m mids. Pricing means it's easy enough to build a team without these unless you want to maximise budget and rule changes with 5 subs/referee's potentially adding more mins to games means these will rarely be needed unless a player completely misses out or is injured.

Yes agreed, given quality of 4.5s available (Newc, AV, Brent..) seems sensible to upgrade the 4.0 to a 4.5 and have a genuine option on bench.

The nkunku and jesus injuries this week should act as a cautionary tale!

According to my planner, there is one GW when I might call up a 4.0 def, if Estupinan underwhelms. Luton face a Forest who don't score much that GW, so Kabore gets the nod.

          • 11 Years

I would say this is more of an argument towards owning 4.0s. Even if budgets are more flexible the fact that it’s likely that your starting players see action even if they start on the bench means that your bench is less of a factor unless as you said they are completely ruled out (in which case depending on who it is and when we get the news could be transferred out before the deadline)

Martinelli seems to be the prefered option over Ode with the Jesus news - is this just as simple as the £0.5m saving? stats were similar last year. Is Ode ever so slightly more nailed for mins?

    A) 4-5-1 with Chilwell starting and two 4.5 fwds on the bench

    B) 3-5-2 with Joao and Pinnock on the bench

    Rest of the team:

    Estu, Stones, Gabriel

I think Chilwell is a good pick. Although Pedro is exciting but I’m not sure if he starts or gets subbed on. Can you stretch to Wissa?

      1. Pumpkinhead
        • 11 Years

I could stretch to Wissa but would mean have two 4.0 defenders and one 4.5 fwd on the bench.

        1. Thanos
          • 5 Years

          Nah, that’s not ideal mate.

In this case, will go with B and will perhaps jump from Stones/Gabriel (if you have extra 0.5) to Chilwell in GW3.

Also, are you confident on Salah. I know the history and pedigree and all that. But he seems to be more of an assister right now and you definitely need more than that to justify his high price. Not trying to dissuade you but just something to ponder on Salah vs no Salah trade offs.

          1. Pumpkinhead
            • 11 Years
            3 years, 1 month ago

I’m not 100% sold but I’ll give you my 3 top reasons why I’ve moved to him:
            -GW2 captain differential
-Can be downgraded to anyone + it’s way easier to have the money already invested pre-gw1 then trying to find the money to get him in.
-I was on a 3-5-2 but Jesus, Nkunku, etc… going down with injury and none of the other 8.0 or close forwards really call to me.

            1. Thanos
              • 5 Years
              3 years, 1 month ago

Completely agree with point 1 and 3 as injury to Jesus and Nku has thrown a lot of drafts in disarray.

On your second point though I’d beg to differ. While you can definitely downgrade to any player in one move but having Salah to begin with means that you already start with perhaps sub par choices in the first place. On the corollary, getting him later on will allow you to assess: 1) his positioning 2) his attacking returns 3) Pool’s other attackers. All this can be done with proper data and yes, it may cost you a hit but you’ll be sure of it. On the positive side, you don’t really have to make compromises and who knows, maybe not even get him altogether. Maybe it’s Darwin or Jota that shine in GW1 and get them instead.

    BB team thoughts?

    Onana Areola

    Rashford Saka Trossard Foden Mitoma
    Haaland Watkins Joao Pedro

    1. Pumpkinhead
      • 11 Years
      3 years, 1 month ago

I don’t like bb gw1 because you’re then stuck with more $ on your bench then you’d like. I think it forces you in some circumstances into an early wildcard so I would stay clear but if you’re feeling it then go off, if it comes good you’ll be starting from a good spot

      1. Dosh
        • 12 Years
        3 years, 1 month ago

I feel this is a good season to go for it because of the kind pricing. The plan is Mee and Joao Pedro out to sort out the money on the bench issue. Also the reason I didn't care for a 2nd playing keeper, wouldn't bother for 2 points. I think with some luck it could go well.

Unpopular opinion from an Arsenal fan: Trossard > Martinelli.

If we see Trossard start the CS, he should be locked into our lineups for the 1.0 discount.

Even if Trossard gets false 9 I would still rather have Martinelli. IMO Jesus out increases reliance on Martinelli who has the great goal threat

Took out Jesus for Tross a week ago.

Maybe he is but he certainly isn’t as nailed as some of the other options even with Jesus out.

Yeah I'm very tempted by him. May well make the Martinelli to Trossard move if he starts and looks good on Sunday.

CS will give us the info we need. But Trossard, like Marti, are very likely to get their minutes cut due to subbing.

Sounds like there was a precautionary element to his substitution. Still waiting for news from Chelsea though.

“The doctors are checking him and I hope it is not a big issue. He fell in the action which was maybe a penalty and he feels something in his knee but we hope it is nothing big. We hope he can be back quickly with the team. We need a few days to assess him.” – Mauricio Pochettino on Christopher Nkunku

By biggest concern in Poch’s comment is the last line about assessing him for a few days. I said this earlier too but it so near to the start of the PL, he may not be risked for a start. Even if he is fine, he could be on the bench or start and sub off early. Either ways, too much risk until any fresh news comes out.

I made this comment earlier too and one of the posters here mentioned that it could be about flying him to the UK and then the medical team looking at it and it’s all fine. So maybe there isn’t anything to this.

I used to buy memberships here more to support the team rather than actually using the data/resources but as soon as they hired David Munday I was out and I’ve never purchased another premium membership. Unless you need stats/data/etc… I would just stay free and enjoy.

I’ve always somehow thought that premium was cheating in some way and have never felt the need to subscribe. Have done alright in 13 years (without a grav too) and won most of my mini leagues.

I really love the public forum and even though it was free I just wanted to support the collective that allowed it to happen but like I said, once they made some key switches it was over for me.

same here. but honestly im a data freak and love doing my own tables - hence why investing in this

And due to work/life i no longer have as much time - so i thought some planning tools would help, and a dude recommended this place for data analytics if its ur thing.

thanks for that - no i dont follow anyone - i do my own data mining but i need good sources like this place from what ive heard. the discount sounded nice, but ive tried 3 times, its not granting 🙁

also, just out of curiousity as ive only seen Munday twice over 2 days, whats are your reservations?

I stopped paying for memberships when they started hiring forum regulars to write articles for them, only to then prevent them having one-on-ones with anyone who hadn't paid for a subscription - basically monetising the banter.

Hi! Yes Red lightning is right, the price listed at sign up includes the discount already. There are a number of different options the straigth premium member is £35.88, the bundle which also includes membership with PFT is £47.88.

I have comment deleted that was not offensive, but now seeing £48 is price that includes 30% discount is an absolute joke!! how can you possibly justify this, though no one will respond, this message will be deleted before being read!! I am shocked and time to tell all my FPL mates that we need a new place to go,

Thank you Sam - i will still sign up/

But as honest feedback. this is not what any of us understood - the message was 30% for people who SIGN UP now - as in, not for recurrent users, but for new users.

i know htis has loopholes. maybe existing users will create new accounts - not me, its just that my in-law had an account, i didnt, and he recommended this place, and we BOTH thought i would get a disc (btw he is signed up too, we dont share data for obvious reasons 😀 )

But long story short - the message wasnt too clear, now im at a "meh" - ill still sign up though!
Also, worth noting that as a first glance, the comments i got on this thread are making me raise an eyebrow. Ancelotti style. You might wana do something - or not - if there is a history of trolling. i honesltly dont know

Those of us who have been members for a while only pay the price we initially signed up for, luckily. In my case that's 17.50

Sam adds "There is 30% of the full price at the moment.
Depending on when your in-laws signed up it is possible that the price is the same. The full price has increased but it is currently discounted down to last seasons price."
I have suggested that the message ought to be stated more clearly.
There are some who feel strongly about the price and keep complaining about it while continuing to use the free parts of the site - the majority however either sign up or don't, without making a big fuss about it.

Playing a rotating 4.5 defender gives you a lot to work with

    Onana

    Gabriel, Estu, Andersen, Stones

    Saka, Martinelli, Salah, Fernandes

    Haaland, Wissa

    (Onana, Colwill, Ahamada, Archer)

If you’re going to rotate 4.5 then they all should be nailed otherwise you’ll get stuck just playing 1 4.5 all the time

Non FPL query but related to auction comp. I have Flekken and Sa as keepers ( no need to really have 2 keepers). 25m in the bank. Watkins starting price is 23m. I have no strikers and it's the second from last bidding process until all auctions are finshed. 4 people out of 20 have enough money bid for Watkins. If I sell sa I will have 45 in the bank which pretty much guarantee getting Watkins. Deadline is tonight. Would you do it? And if not, why not?

    GK - Flekken, Johnstone
D - Chilwell, Shaw, Estupinan, Henry, Bell
M - Salah, Saka, Mbuemo, Mitoma, Andreas
    F - Haaland, Watkins, Mubama

I also see the story was published in the Graun about 2 hours ago, Jacob Steinberg. Agree that Steele is now being challenged but can't see him starting on the bench. His spot to lose.

    Urgent guidance needed.

    A) TAA, Mitoma, Mbeumo
    B) Stones, Martinelli, Mbeumo
    C) Stones Martinelli Mitoma

    Pick one option

Option A leaves me with nothing in the bank, whereas B and C give me £1.5m

      That's a tough one!

If Liverpool were defensively solid (and clean sheets therefore a likelihood) then Trent would be in most teams I think, even at 8.0. The lack of a CDM makes Liverpool vulnerable and although his new midfield role makes people excited, I think trent will actually get less assists from that role than RB (more likely to get pre assists in CM).

And with Jesus injured there is an extra spot free in Arsenal's forward line - which I expect Trossard to take which therefore will diminish the threat to martinellis minutes.

Therefore I would rule out option A, and then it's a straight pick between B and C (or simply between Mbuemo or Mitoma).

Mbuemo has the opportunity to play on the wing or up front in the absence of Toney, boosting his appeal. At around 22% owned he is quite template but arguably less so than mitoma at 37%. I think mitoma is a wait and see - he may be as explosive as last season or he may be less so with extra competition from buanneote and enciso and Pedro etc which could reduce minuted

B just nudges it for me, but I would keep an eye on the Mbeumo and Mitoma situation and switch accordingly once the season kicks off!

      Best of luck
