Initally sidelined until after the October international break, Newcastle United’s Yoane Wissa (£7.4m) has seen his return date pushed back slightly further.
Speaking in Friday’s pre-match press conference, Eddie Howe confirmed that recovering from the knee injury will take a bit more time.
“Yoane saw a specialist again yesterday for a check-up on his knee. We probably think now it’ll be eight weeks rather than six [from the point of the injury]. It’s no recurrence or problem, just slightly longer.” – Eddie Howe on Yoane Wissa, via Hayters
Frustratingly, that means the summer signing from Brentford will have to wait even longer for his Magpies debut. In December, he’s then expected to represent DR Congo at the African Cup of Nations.
No Wissa means a more nailed-on Woltemade
Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers can use this information to pile in on club record purchase Nick Woltemade (£7.1m), knowing he’ll continue to be their only fit forward.
The German international has started very brightly since moving to Tyneside. Three goals from four starts, versus Wolverhampton Wanderers, Arsenal and Union Saint-Gilloise.
It’s already led to one FPL price rise and Sunday has him at home to Nottingham Forest, who are still without a clean sheet.

Elsewhere, full-back Tino Livramento (£5.1m) also has a knee issue. It should keep him out for up to eight weeks.
“He went to see a specialist a couple of days ago because the scan initially looked better than we initially thought it was. The specialist confirmed it is an eight-week injury, roughly.
“It is a ligament injury and that’s why it will take time to recover. He’s already had a couple of injections in the ligament to strengthen it up.” – Eddie Howe on Tino Livramento
At least there is better news elsewhere, as Jacob Ramsey (£5.3m) has recovered ahead of schedule and will be in the squad.
Fabian Schar (£5.4m) returned from a head injury for Wednesday’s win in Belgium.
