ARSENAL
Eberechi Eze (calf) is back fit for the Gunners after a month out.
“He is available.” – Mikel Arteta on Eberechi Eze
Gabriel Magalhaes, Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard all recovered from injury to feature in midweek.
The rest of the Arsenal team news is less clear.
Bukayo Saka (unspecified), Jurrien Timber (ankle), Piero Hincapie (muscle) were still absent against Sporting, along with longer-term absentee Mikel Merino (foot).
Martin Odegaard then seemed to be limping when he came off in Portugal.
Following that game, Odegaard, Saka, Hincapie and Timber weren’t seen in training on Thursday. Riccardo Calafiori, who did play in the UEFA Champions League, was also not spotted by the cameras.
Asked about that missing contingent, Arteta was typically cryptic.
“Yeah, there have been changes since yesterday.” – Mikel Arteta when asked if the players missing from training have returned
“I don’t know. Some of them.” – Mikel Arteta when asked if all four of those aforementioned players could feature against Bournemouth
LIVERPOOL
Alisson (muscle) remains out for the Reds. Arne Slot said last week that the Brazilian ‘keeper would be back “towards the end of the season” but did provide a positive-sounding update on Friday.
“We don’t get a player back yet but Alisson is working hard to find his way back into the squad. So, that’s really positive, but he will not be in the squad this weekend yet.” – Arne Slot
Wataru Endo (foot), Stefan Bajcetic (hamstring), Conor Bradley (knee) and Giovanni Leoni (knee) remain on the sidelines, too.
Alexander Isak (ankle) is available again, having had a cameo off the bench in Wednesday’s Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain.
Slot hopes the Swedish striker can get back into his stride soon.
“It was only 15 minutes but it’s good to have him back. Hopefully, we can progress his minutes and he can grow to his form as soon as possible. The last time, of course, it took him a while, which is completely normal, but now we’re hoping that after the great rehab he already had… that we can bring him faster to the level we want him to be in.” – Arne Slot on Alexander Isak
Away from injuries, the Liverpool boss hinted at a few line-up changes in Gameweek 32. The reigning Premier League champions have already played Saturday and Wednesday this week, with a rematch against PSG to follow on Tuesday.
“Yesterday was a recovery day, and let’s see where a few of our players are because I think, and I’m not telling you for the first time, not all of our players are able and capable of playing three days later another intense game. So, let’s see what the line-up brings this time.” – Arne Slot
“[Two] of the players I’m worried about for tomorrow will be Jeremie Frimpong and Joe Gomez.” – Arne Slot
In case you missed the news, Andrew Robertson will depart the club at the end of the campaign.
MANCHESTER CITY
Ruben Dias (hamstring/knock) won’t be back for the trip to Chelsea. The centre-back picked up a hamstring issue before Manchester City’s EFL Cup final win in March but had been on the cusp of a return when he suffered a “knock” in training.
“He’s getting better but he’s not ready for Sunday.
“No [timeline yet].” – Pep Guardiola on Ruben Dias
John Stones (calf) could return after withdrawing from the England squad over the break, although he’s not yet in full training.
“Today maybe he will do a partial training, we will see.” – Pep Guardiola on John Stones
Josko Gvardiol (leg) remains a longer-term absentee.
“He’s getting better too but still is not close.” – Pep Guardiola on Josko Gvardiol
CHELSEA
Liam Rosenior has confirmed that Enzo Fernandez has apologised to him and the club – but the Chelsea boss is sticking to his guns and the midfielder will not be available this weekend.
Enzo was suspended by the Chelsea boss for two matches, following public comments about his future at Chelsea. The first of those games was the FA Cup quarter-final win over Port Vale.
“He won’t play on Sunday but hopefully after that, he’ll be a massive part of the group moving forward. There are still a few hurdles that need to be overcome that I won’t go into but at the same time, I want every player really, really focused now on a huge run.” – Liam Rosenior
Reece James (hamstring), Trevoh Chalobah (ankle) and Levi Colwill (knee/match fitness) are all going to miss out again.
“No but the positive is Este[vao] having the 90 minutes against Port Vale. In terms of any others, Trevoh is working really hard, he’s back on the pitch. Levi is full training but he still needs to overcome some hurdles in terms of selection. Reece has been running today, which is great.
“They’re not ready for Man City.” – Liam Rosenior when asked if he was expecting anyone back from injury
We’re assuming Jamie Gittens (hamstring), who had yet another setback last week, and Filip Jorgensen (groin) remain out, given the quote above.
MANCHESTER UNITED
While Michael Carrick doesn’t face the press until Saturday, he did speak to in-house media on Wednesday about the latest team news.
The United boss started by revealing that his internationals have returned unscathed.
“Yeah, at the moment, everyone’s in good shape, which is pleasing because you never really know. They’re going away and some are playing two games, some might not play an awful lot of minutes, but you just want everyone to come back safe and sound. Thankfully, at the moment, everyone’s in good shape.” – Michael Carrick
The Red Devils have been training in Dublin this week, with Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo present. Those two had pulled out of their respective national team squads for precautionary reasons.
Lisandro Martinez (calf) and Patrick Dorgu (hamstring) were with the squad in Ireland, too, although the latter was only training individually.
Matthijs de Ligt (back) remained at home as his long road to recovery continues. Diogo Dalot and Tom Heaton also didn’t make the trip due to illness.
Harry Maguire is fit but he’ll not be involved in Gameweek 32 as he’s suspended for one match.
“So you were saying about the break, it’s actually worked in our favour in some ways, in terms of getting players back. Mason [Mount] is in and around it as well, in training, and he’s had that period of time to build that up.
“To have Licha in and around it again is good. Obviously, Harry [Maguire] is going to miss the game, so we’ve got Licha back around it, with Leny [Yoro] and Ayden [Heaven], and we just want to get stronger as a group, really. So, that’s part of this, trying to use that to do that this week.” – Michael Carrick
BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION
The Seagulls have no new injury concerns for the trip to Burnley, according to Fabian Hurzeler.
Jack Hinshelwood is fine, having pulled out of the England under-21 squad with a minor knee issue.
“Yeah. So, everyone will be fine for tomorrow.” – Fabian Hurzeler when asked if Jack Hinshelwood is fit for Saturday
Adam Webster (knee) and Stefanos Tzimas (knee) are the two long-term absentees who are still doing rehab.
On the suspension front, Lewis Dunk begins a two-match ban that will rule him out of Gameweek 32 and the first half of Gameweek 33.
Hurzeler was asked if three weeks without football have benefitted Danny Welbeck, who was overlooked by Thomas Tuchel again.
“He seems to be in a very good place. Very relaxed, very focused, very sharp. He knows that he only can control certain things, and what he can control is his performances on the pitch and how he behaves beside the pitch. Therefore, he keeps focusing on these controllables, and then we see what happens in the next week.” – Fabian Hurzeler on Danny Welbeck
NEWCASTLE UNITED
Bruno Guimaraes‘ return from a hamstring injury has been delayed – by a bout of mumps. He likely won’t be back till Gameweek 34.
“Bruno suffered, as probably the majority of you know, from mumps on his return from Brazil, so that’s delayed his return. So, he will not be involved in this game. I think there’s probably a doubt over the Bournemouth game as well for him. No injury concern, more just the illness stopped him doing some key work that we needed him to do to be considered for these games. So, it may be the game after but it’s important he comes back when he’s ready.” – Eddie Howe
Fabian Schar (ankle) has had a setback, too, after picking up an infection in his foot. He’ll be out for another month.
“Fabian unfortunately suffered an infection in his foot, so he’s been in hospital having a very small operation to get that cleaned out. So, he won’t return for around a month, we think.” – Eddie Howe
Emil Krafth (knee) is unavailable for the longer term.
Lewis Miley (dead leg/muscle) is back, at least. Sandro Tonali (groin), who sat out the Tyne-Wear derby, also recovered to feature for Italy over the break.
“On everybody else, we’re pretty good. Lewis has trained and trained well with us, so that’s been a great thing for us to see because we’ve missed him massively. And then of course, you have Sandro, who played during the international break anyway, with his injury from the Sunderland game. The others are in a good place.” – Eddie Howe
And there are some surprising reports regarding Sven Botman. He underwent surgery on a facial fracture over the break, with Newcastle saying he’d be out until “the closing weeks of the season”.
However, the latest suggestions are that he will be fit for the Crystal Palace game, wearing a mask instead. Howe didn’t mention him by name but journalists were briefed by a club official on Botman’s status after the press conference, with his manager forgetting to mention him.
BOURNEMOUTH
Andoni Iraola says that Justin Kluivert (knee) and Lewis Cook (hamstring) are his only absentees for the trip to Arsenal.
Tyler Adams (quad) and Julio Soler (hamstring) are available again, following Ben Gannon-Doak – who was on the bench in Gameweek 31 – in coming off the injury list.
“I think the only injured players we have right now are Justin Kluivert and Lewis Cook. Lewis Cook is taking maybe more time than we expected and he’s not there yet.
“I hope [Kluivert] can play before the season ends but it is not going to be easy. He will have to progress as well as he is doing, because he is doing very well.
“But I think everyone else is kind of available. There are some cases, especially Julio Soler, who is not ready to play a lot of minutes, but he is at least training with the group and I think he is kind of recovered.
“In the cases of Tyler, of Ben Gannon-Doak, they have used this break to put themselves again in contention and I think we are in a good place. I will even have to make difficult decisions because probably there will be more than 20 ready to travel.” – Andoni Iraola
All is well with Eli Junior Kroupi and Alex Jimenez, who withdrew from their countries’ respective under-21 squads for precautionary reasons.
“Junior Kroupi and Álex Jiménez came from their national teams with some niggles. It was more precautionary. They have had some rest, also with us, but they are fully recovered and ready to go for tomorrow.” – Andoni Iraola
TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR
Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that, as widely reported on Thursday, Mohammed Kudus (thigh) has suffered a setback in his recovery and remains out.
Guglielmo Vicario (hernia surgery) and Rodrigo Bentancur (hamstring) are not quite ready to return, meanwhile.
“Vicario is not ready for this game. I hope he comes back early next week but I don’t know yet.
“Bentancur is working with us but not completely.” – Roberto De Zerbi
James Maddison (knee) won’t be seen till later in the season, while Yves Bissouma (muscle), Wilson Odobert (knee), Ben Davies (ankle) and Dejan Kulusevski (knee) are also on the injury list.
SUNDERLAND
Regis Le Bris says that Dan Ballard (hamstring) “is close” but that he won’t be involved against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. The same goes for Nilson Angulo (unknown).
Jocelin Ta Bi (ankle), Romaine Mundle (hamstring), Simon Moore (hand) and Bertrand Traore (knee) are also on the sidelines for the Black Cats.
Robin Roefs (hamstring) is fit, however.
As for Nordi Mukiele, Reinildo and Enzo Le Fee, all on the bench in Gameweek 31, they are ready to start.
ASTON VILLA
Unai Emery brought us the latest on Jadon Sancho (shoulder) on Friday.
“He’s improving and getting better, Sancho. We will see how he is tomorrow because he was an injury for a few days or one, two or three weeks, but now it’s the second week, just starting the second week with his injury.” – Unai Emery
Alysson is back in training after a spell out.
“Alysson is starting to train with the group as well, progressively getting better.” – Unai Emery
Boubacar Kamara (knee) is a long-term absentee.
CRYSTAL PALACE
Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Eddie Nketiah (hamstring) will be out for the rest of the season. The striker has been on the cusp of a return but suffered a setback in training on Wednesday.
Other than that, the Eagles’ only injury-related absentee against Fiorentina was Cheick Doucoure (knee/muscle/match fitness). He’s been out for over a year but has been in and out of training over the last few weeks (and has featured for the under-21s), with his progress stalled by muscular discomfort. He won’t feature this weekend.
Adam Wharton (adductor), who returned early from England duty, recovered to play in Europe.
Jorgen Strand Larsen was suspended in Europe, so couldn’t feature on Thursday, but he’s available for domestic action.
There is one fresh concern from midweek, with Evann Guessard picking up a knee issue. Palace will assess him.
EVERTON
Iliman Ndiaye is available for Everton’s trip to Brentford on Saturday.
Ndiaye withdrew from international duty with Senegal but has trained since and will feature in west London.
Tyrique George is also back in contention, having been unable to face his parent club in Gameweek 31.
The game comes too soon for Charly Alcaraz, although even he is nearing a return from an unspecified issue that has kept him out in recent months.
“They’re all fine, the players are fine. We’ve just about got a fully fit squad. Charly Alcaraz is back in early training, so he’s not available for the game but he’s getting closer to being fit again.” – David Moyes, when asked how Iliman Ndiaye was
Jack Grealish (foot) is a longer-term absentee.
BRENTFORD
Keith Andrews has no fresh injuries to report on from the international break.
The Everton game comes too soon for Vitaly Janelt (foot), who remains a few weeks away.
Andrews added that Aaron Hickey (hamstring) is “probably” not going to be involved, either, although he is closer to a recovery than Janelt.
We await another update on Rico Henry (hamstring) but we know that Antoni Milambo and Fábio Carvalho (both knee) are out for the season.
Another (very!) long-term absentee, Josh Dasilva (knee), has been back in training for a while. The Bees hope to have him playing again before the end of the campaign.
Mikkel Damsgaard (knock) missed out in Gameweek 31 but has since returned to action with Denmark. Kristoffer Ajer sat out the goalless draw with Leeds to attend the birth of his child, meanwhile.
Dango Ouattara only featured as a substitute in that game due to a knock but has since logged 180 minutes for Burkina Faso.
