Joe’s highly popular ‘Goals Imminent’ table from the Members Area is the basis for this weekly article.

Heading towards Double Gameweek 33 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL), we try to identify some more underachieving players who look ‘due’ for a goal and/or assist.

Naturally, we’ll attempt to assess whether they’re unlucky, suffering a rare blip, or just aren’t particularly good.

LAST WEEK’S SUCCESSES

FPL notes: Kroupi praise, Tavernier update + 4

Perhaps a surprise entry on the table was Alex Scott (£5.0m), but he scored the decisive goal in Bournemouth’s shock win at Arsenal. He reached 12 points, also grabbing defensive contribution (DefCon) joy and maximum bonuses.

As predicted, Florian Wirtz (£8.3m) set up a strike at Anfield, passing to Rio Ngumoha (£4.3m).

GOALS IMMINENT

Choose 1 of each scenario please.

    If NOR is passed fit

    a) Start Bruno @ Chelsea

    b) Bruno > Enzo (FT)

    If NOR is ruled out

    1) NOR > Nunes, Start Bruno (FT)

    2) NOR > Cucurella, Bruno > Cherki (-1)

I have the exact same midfield and gonna leave Bruno, have too much money tied up in him. Any other single gameweek players in your squad ?

Bruno is the only SGW player I have, liked the idea of 15 doublers and go for it.

You have failed to prepare the most likely scenario - NOR neither passed fit nor ruled out

Would you just start NOR in that case?

I am in that position. Since I am playing a BB, I will sadly have to sell him for Nunes. Even though I also need Pedro, which is - 4.

Yeah I think if Pep isn’t telling us much by Friday I will just do NOR > Nunes

Just start Bruno or -4 for Enzo?

My fear is they play 1 each. Maybe NOR to Guehi to get 2 games

Assuming I started Alderete ahead of Keane and Anderson, started Ekitike and had Rogers first sub, with Bruno captain, I'm 10 points down on wildcard 48 to 58. So not too bad. I lost the Thiago points mainly but gained O'Rielly, however it was the fringe points that done me such as Alderete, Virgil and Rogers sub for Ekitike.

Have 2 transfers, if O’Reilly is out:

    A) Orielly > Guehi
    B) Orielly + Bruno > Hill/Cucurella + Cherki

Really great article. Thanks for sharing.

I always find the focus on xG underachievers fascinating. It's useful data but only if you are willing to look into the details, or watch the matches and remember what's happened in them. It's not ideal to look at, for example, Calvert-Lewin and think he's due a goal. As you rightly say in your article, you have to question his ability. Darwin Nunez was similar - lots of shots, very few goals.

You need to factor in whether the keeper has saved the shots well, or if the shots just went straight to the keeper, or if the target was missed completely from a good position.

Ideally you look at people who tend to over-achieve their xG and then also the teams that concede a lot of good-quality chances. Then, find players from the first list that are soon to be playing against the teams in the second list. It's what I'd do if I had time. Instead I just go on vibes.

      None.

      Triple City
      Triple Bournemouth
      Triple Leeds
      2 x Chelsea

5 at the back. Hoping for a load of 0-0s

Not fond of the hit but selling Mbeumo's a good move. Palmer's form isn't great. Have you other doubler mids as alternatives?

Have 9.4m to spend on a Leeds DEF + Bournemouth MID. Which is the best combo:

    1. Tavernier + Bijol/ Justin/ Gud (which one?)
    2. Scott + any of the above/ Struijk/ Bogle (which one?)

    Cheers!

If Arsenal do beat Man City on Sunday and the title race looks done, do you think it's mass rotation against Burnley on the Wednesday, with the starting 11 for the FA Cup semi final needed less than 3 days later?

Pep likes rhythm & rarely rests his players.

Arsenal probably getting thumped for good measure.

        I'd take the City win

Especially as I'm going to TC on Haaland as an edge

But if Arsenal do win then Pep will be prioritising the FA Cup for silverware

Got 60 points to catch top in my league, which is improbable as it looks like they have almost the same lineup as myself.

Debating selling Bruno and Gabriel for a couple of DGW players and seeing if the dice roll works.

    Maybe Enzo and Senesi.

Obvs Gabriel and Bruno a better run for the rest of the season, but maintaining the gap is of no use to me.

Yes, and it looks like they're on pretty much exactly the same strategy as me (which is pretty much template).
My only non-DGW are Bowen, Bruno and Gabriel. Tempted to keep Bowen and do Bruno and Gabriel to DGW, just to try and make up the difference.

Obviously more likely to not work, but sticking with Bruno, Gabriel and changing Bowen to DCL is the same as my rival.

    Need some advice please...

I only have Wildcard...Bench Boost and Triple captain to play.

I'm thinking of wildcarding and going for the full squad playing double gameweek but I'm not sure how to then prepare for GW34.

    TIA

    Darlow
    Gabriel O'Reilly Hill
    Bruno Cherki Enzo Palmer
    Haaland DCL Pedro

    Verbruggen Tavernier VanHecke Struijk

    2FT, 1.6itb

    What to do here??

    1. Palmer Pedro >> Saka Gyokeres
    2. Palmer Verbruggen >> Saka Raya
    3. Something else??
