The Scout Picks return ahead of Gameweek 2 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

This is a Free Hit in all but name, with the focus solely on the upcoming Gameweek. Selections made in the Scout Squad are a big factor when it comes to deciding who made the final cut.

As ever, we are limited by certain restrictions:

  • An £83.0m budget for our starting XI
  • An overall squad limit of £100.0m
  • No more than three players per team

GAMEWEEK 2 SCOUT PICKS

GOALKEEPER

Coventry City’s home encounter with fellow new boys Hull City brings Carl Rushworth (£4.5m) into contention.

The 1.2%-owned shot-stopper was selected by all four of our Scout Squad panel.

Faith in Coventry picks has been shaken a bit by Hull’s Gameweek 1 win. However, both matches between these teams in the Championship last season ended goalless, so we could be in for another tight, cagey affair on Saturday.

Rushworth has save point potential to fall back on should he concede.

DEFENDERS

FPL notes: van Dijk 17-pointer, Alderete, Cash + van Hecke injury latest

What are Palestra owners doing? Hold or move on?

I have Thomas (HUL) and O’Shea (MUN) on the bench. Probably happy enough to let it run for another week.

Not this week like others said.

Mbeumo is home to Ipswich. Possibly one of the best fixtures of the year.

Whereas Man City are away to Crystal Palace which isn't particularly hard or easy.

That said. Man City vs Crystal Palace last two results were 3-0.

    Best option?

    A) Sell Ndiaye for 6m mid
    B) Bench for Groß
    C) Start him

Isn't Gvardiol a good Cap pick?

    Attacking Threat
    Assist Threat
    Bonus threat
    DefCon Threat
    Cleansheet Threat

I just feel his expected points are around 8-9.....

Hmmm I believe am safe with minutes risks.

I would say Oreilly Rico and Khusanov are the potential early subs when it comes down to "defensive line" rotation

So advice people.... is this gamble of upside chasing worth it in the defcon era?

    Kinsky
    O Reilly, White, Calafiori
    Cherki, Palmer, Tzolis, mBuemo, Szob
    Pedro Haaland

    1. x.jim.x

      What are we looking at

      1. An attacking side that doesn’t get DEFCON.

I think ideally you want to find a balance between DEFCON players and some who are more reliant on attacking returns. All DEFCON or no DEFCON is too extreme.

Ya agree, could maybe work untl the IB, then have 3-4 transfers and know how is defcon guys.

        3. We should only be concerned with points per match, which may or may not include defcons

    2. Hard to ignore Sangares value!

      1. SalahFingers
        • 8 Years

after 1 game (and I guess the cup). Every season there's some players that do well in the first few weeks then do nothing.

Not saying Sangare is that person, but it's easy to hype up someone after they do well in GW1. That's mostly a noob trap.

        1. Yeah could be true, but he comes with a track record, and looked fantastic

      2. Maybe sangare instead of Szobo and provisionally book a transfer , Boomo to whatever pool/other mid emerges,

        1. FPL_trail_runner
          • 6 Years

If i went that draft then i would go no transfers in 3, FH4, no transfers 5, and have 2 FT for 6 after IB.

          1. So you intended on holding Boomo anyway, could be ok depending on manu....

For weeks 2, 3 and 5 he is nice i think.

              Then can downgrade i guess.

Strongly thinking of rolling, but FOMO so also leaning a bit for E le fee>Szobozlai.

    Team:

    Lammens (Verbruggen)
Maguire Calafiori Konsa (smallhope for a start) (Jacquet, O Hien)
Schade Bruno Tzolis Le fee (Gross)
    Haaland Thiago Brobbey

eh. hard to pick any to be honest. I'd probably go C.

  15. SalahFingers

    Verbruggen (che)

    or

    Kinsky (NEW)

Kinsky has the better fixture, but spurs look dreadful. Is Kinsky still the better pick here?

im in same boat and going kinsky. I think Spurs will turn up for this game.

Thanks. Will switch. Verbruggen is on the better team (IMO) but against Chelsea makes me think there's almost no chance of him getting points.

Yeah that was always the strat for CS, but spurs look woeful.

Either way, I've switched to Kinsky as it makes sense in a lot of ways, thanks!

  16. SalahFingers

    also..

    A) Thomas (HUL)

    or

    B) Ballard (FUL)

Currently playing A (with Calafiori and Shaw)

    1. H Dog
      • 16 Years

Again not much to choose from- A

      1. SalahFingers
        • 8 Years
        just now

Cheers. I have A at the moment with B first sub.

No idea how Coventrys defence will be this season. I know they left in 3 away to Arsenal last week but I think that is the hardest possible fixture they could have had.

Hull on the other hand, scored 2-0 against Man Utd, but if you look at the stats, Hull had 8 shots and Man Utd had 21.

Either way, I think Fulham do seem stronger, and I'm not sure about Sunderlands defense yet this season (although they left in the 3rd least amount of goals last season).
