The Scout Picks return ahead of Gameweek 2 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

This is a Free Hit in all but name, with the focus solely on the upcoming Gameweek. Selections made in the Scout Squad are a big factor when it comes to deciding who made the final cut.

As ever, we are limited by certain restrictions:

  • An £83.0m budget for our starting XI
  • An overall squad limit of £100.0m
  • No more than three players per team

GAMEWEEK 2 SCOUT PICKS

GOALKEEPER

Coventry City’s home encounter with fellow new boys Hull City brings Carl Rushworth (£4.5m) into contention.

The 1.2%-owned shot-stopper was selected by all four of our Scout Squad panel.

Faith in Coventry picks has been shaken a bit by Hull’s Gameweek 1 win. However, both matches between these teams in the Championship last season ended goalless, so we could be in for another tight, cagey affair on Saturday.

Rushworth has save point potential to fall back on should he concede.

DEFENDERS

FPL notes: van Dijk 17-pointer, Alderete, Cash + van Hecke injury latest

Will wait for next week before replacing him - Bruno to Palmer, hinsh to szob. At least his injury solves my benching dilemma.

Any reservations towards captaining either Haaland or Bruno? The fixtures aren't bad but neither have hit their optimal form. Bruno was particuarly silent at the World Cup, while Haaland might still carry some fatigue.

I’m being more and more interested in JP purely because of his form and how good Palmer is starting to look.

Totally. They say the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing… very little confidence in Man Utd in particular suddenly improving.

If you're not captaining Bruno at home to Ipswich, you might as well transfer him out

Yeah I agree, and I will most likely in GW3. The careful structure of Haaland, Bruno and Gabriel doesn't give me enough freedom to build my team they way I'd like.

As a Sunderland fan - Ballard had a bad game last weekend. With Alderete and Mukiele back and Meunier being the best of our defenders (not hard) last weekend, Ballard could be at risk.
Brobbey nailed to start. I’d go Brobbey

Very decent. Not sure on the double up for Arsenal attack yet. I also am not huge fan of money on bench.

      Ive messed around with this

      Kinsky
      O Reilly, White, Calafiori
      Cherki, Palmer, Tzolis, mBuemo, Szob
      Pedro Haaland

But will probably be better going with this :
The many different drafts that are available are crazy. No idea how this is affordable. Probably wont work with lack of defcons.

      Kinsky
      O Reilly, ajer, Calafiori rodon
      Saka Palmer, mBuemo, Szob
      Pedro Haaland

      4mil Konsa

Tzolis is worth holding and Saka is a no brainer, easy downgrade if things don’t work out, there is not to much in the bench and I think all 3 4.5’s rotate well, De Cuyper while in form will start most and maybe use Ajer next week with Arsenal vs Chelsea…

I like Konda but might be a couple of weeks before he starts, meanwhile White in fantastic form

Cant justify Saka price over Tzolis

If he’s not playing because of rumours, DCL comes off bench anyway

I'd probably still start DCL at home

There's a theory when Everton seek to keep their best players and he puts in a star performance to tip Man City to make the move happen.

Man City are buying up lots of players again, inevitably and Ndiaye could miss out.
