The Scout Picks return ahead of Gameweek 3 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

This is a Free Hit in all but name, with the focus solely on the upcoming Gameweek. Selections made in the Scout Squad are a big factor when it comes to deciding who made the final cut.

As ever, certain restrictions limit us:

  • An £83.0m budget for our starting XI
  • An overall squad limit of £100.0m
  • No more than three players per team

GAMEWEEK 3 SCOUT PICKS

GOALKEEPER

FPL pre-season: Kelleher + Schade injury updates, Henry starts

Using our ‘Rate My Team’ projections, Brentford are the weekend’s second favourites for a clean sheet. Keith Andrews’ side are at home to Sunderland.

Not only did the Bees win last year’s equivalent meeting 3-0, but one of Caoimhin Kelleher‘s (£5.0m) three penalty saves came from Enzo Le Fee (£5.9m). Although we shouldn’t expect another dismal ‘Panenka’ attempt!

Kelleher is also part of a backline that has conceded the joint-second fewest box shots (10) so far.

DEFENDERS

FPL notes: De Cuyper + Hinshelwood hauls, Villa injury latest

    Bench one:
    a) Tzolis

Mbeumo to Cherki: yay or nay?

Looking at maybe WC4, depending how players look this week.

I have shared this a few times so sorry for being painful, but how does this wildcard look?

    Verbruggen (Steele)
Calafiori, De Cuyper, Hall (Egan, Diop)
Bruno F, Palmer, Cherki, Sangare (Slater)
    Haaland, Pedro, Wissa

    0.1itb.

Looks aggressive mate as you'll have to play that first 11 pretty much every week regardless of fixture

      1. GoonerSteve
        1 month, 16 days ago

Yes know what you mean. I toyed with switching Hall and Diop to Dedic and Konsa for more cover.

        Still on this though

Giving these 1 last chance or it could be WC next gameweek.
    Am I all set?

    Kinsky
    Califiori Shaw Kerkez
    Fernandes Mbuemo Sangare Wirtz
    Haaland (TC) JPedro Wissa

    Dub Slater Diop Rodon*

  4. Bobby Digital
    1 month, 16 days ago

I've seen people WC similar teams to mine...

    Kinsky (Rushworth)
    Shaw Calafiori Hall (Thomas Ewijk)
    Bruno Mbeumo Semenyo Sangare (Slater)
    Haaland(TC) Pedro DCL

Do you think this needs a WC? I think it's a decent team for this week.

    1. Holmes
      1 month, 16 days ago

Nope, you have the main guy

    2. Gizzachance

If price isn't a factor and purely points for gw3 only, who would you pick out of semenyo and foden?

    1. Harrow Andromedes

Pretend they are the same price

      1. 112kane112
        1 month, 16 days ago

This is solid advice. Foden for explosiveness, Semenyo for minutes

    2. CoracAld2831
      1 month, 16 days ago

      Semenyo definitely.

  6. Dynamic Duos

Hall v Dedic, Hall by far the better pick, but Dedic still a good option.

    1) Livramento
    2) Defcon Hall 12 p90 , Dedic 8.5 p90
    3) Hall xA 0.33 p90, Dedic 0.03 p90
    4) Hall xG 0.02 p90, Dedic 0.02 p90
    5) Hall on corners
    6) Hall bps 30 p90, Dedic bps 18 p90

    1. GoonerSteve

As someone with Hall I found this very reassuring to read.

    Gabriel Shaw Hume
    Bruno Mbeumo Szob Gomez Sangare
    Haaland Pedro
    (Palmer Thomas Walle-Egali Rodon)

      1. Jafooli

Actually on Shaw at the moment, due to pure anger lol…have Hume first sub for Mosquito if required…

        1. Gizzachance
          1 month, 16 days ago

Spose it depends on who you bringing in due to price diff on both

          1. Jafooli
            1 month, 16 days ago

            Yeah also true, thinking

            1. Shaw > De Crups
            2. Mos > Konsa (next week, after Chelsea)

Same as you aside from not Wildcarding. I'm doing Tzolis to Foden this week, then chain one of the MC Mids onto Rogers next week

      1. Gizzachance
        1 month, 16 days ago

        Cheers

Something I considered as would still have 2 ft for gw4

  11. BR510
    1 month, 16 days ago

    1. Foden Hall (blocks Rogers next week but saves FT)
    2. Foden Dedic - 0.6 itb

2 if it gets you rogers next week.

Yalcouye for the upside of the next 2

      1. BR510
        1 month, 16 days ago

        Start two, one def:
        1. Pedro (got Palmer)
        2. Konsa (got Cala)
        3. Egan

Would you lot take De Cuyper over Hall this week if you had a choice??

    1. Boberella
      1 month, 16 days ago

Depends on longer term plan but both good options this week imo.

  16. Karan_G14
    1 month, 16 days ago

    Verb
    Calafiori Maguire Ajer
    Bruno Cherki Szobo Gros
    Haaland DCL Pedro

    (Kinsky Ndiaye Davis Rodon)
    1 FT & 0.5M

    A) Ndiaye to KDH (Bench Pedro/Gros)
    B) Rodon to De Cuyper (Bench Maguire)
    C) Save FT

    Appreaciate your thoughts! 🙂

    A) Hall
    B) Wissa

    Thanks

    1. Boberella
      1 month, 16 days ago

Probably wissa. No way to play both?

      1. Kiwi Don
        1 month, 16 days ago

Tough as got a good squad as on wildcard
Hall might concede but could get DC and on set pieces. Wissa on form but favouring hall at present

    2. Gizzachance
      1 month, 16 days ago

      B

    A or B?

    A) Maguire > Konsa
    B) Maguire > Dedic

    1. Kiwi Don
      1 month, 16 days ago

Dedic might be short term when tino is back and konsa not nailed but hopefully if he gets a start will hold his place

  19. Brosstan
    1 month, 16 days ago

Bookies prefer Foden over Cherki for goals. Makes sense imo

  20. noquarternt
    1 month, 16 days ago

Is no one worried about Cherki’s minutes? I understand on a free hit, but feels like a Tzolis moment within the next 2 GWs will wake a few people up.

    1. 112kane112
      1 month, 16 days ago

I think the expectation and understanding is that even with 45 minutes he could score a lot of points. Short term it's fine IMO

  21. ViperStripes

Play Shaw or DeCuyper? I reckon Brighton vs Leeds will be an open game and expect Cuyper to concede, so does his attacking threat overcome chance of ManU keeping a CS vs Everton?

I have nDiaye 1st on the bench
DeCuyper/Shaw will be 2nd on bench, playing 3 at the back.

    1. shorey143
      1 month, 16 days ago

I'd play DeCuyper all day long

Do we really need to buy the Chelsea guys in GW4, or could you just free hit them in for that week? Chelsea fixtures are not amazing after gw4… i’m assuming, that everyone keeps JP anyway

    2. 112kane112
      1 month, 16 days ago

A feels a bit boring and I feel like you could regret it. (Mbeumo becomes good, Cherki minutes get managed, Gross don't return at excessive rates)

B is much more fun and genuinely fixes 2 potential weak points in the squad. (Whilst still carrying risk in those you're bringing in)
