The Scout Picks return ahead of Gameweek 3 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

This is a Free Hit in all but name, with the focus solely on the upcoming Gameweek. Selections made in the Scout Squad are a big factor when it comes to deciding who made the final cut.

As ever, certain restrictions limit us:

  • An £83.0m budget for our starting XI
  • An overall squad limit of £100.0m
  • No more than three players per team

GAMEWEEK 3 SCOUT PICKS

GOALKEEPER

FPL pre-season: Kelleher + Schade injury updates, Henry starts

Using our ‘Rate My Team’ projections, Brentford are the weekend’s second favourites for a clean sheet. Keith Andrews’ side are at home to Sunderland.

Not only did the Bees win last year’s equivalent meeting 3-0, but one of Caoimhin Kelleher‘s (£5.0m) three penalty saves came from Enzo Le Fee (£5.9m). Although we shouldn’t expect another dismal ‘Panenka’ attempt!

Kelleher is also part of a backline that has conceded the joint-second fewest box shots (10) so far.

DEFENDERS

FPL notes: De Cuyper + Hinshelwood hauls, Villa injury latest

How's the WC draft looking? Torn on GK combo - have £10m budget plus an extra 0.6m to move Foden to Rogers next week potentially

    A - Raya + 4.0m
    B - Other suggestion?

    GK
Cala - Gvardiol - Hall - De Cuyper
    Foden - MGW - Sangare - GroB
    Haaland - Wissa

    GK2 - Palmer - Pedro - Konsa

Looks good. Similar to mine, although I've kept Bruno. What has made you choose Foden over Cherki?

      1. Jet5605
        1 month, 16 days ago

Keeping Bruno could easily work out. Gone Foden due to Marseca's three pillars comment. I just feel Cherki is an early sub contender if he doesn't deliver in the first half. Foden's minutes seem more secure and I just feel he's due.

      Verbruggen Tzolakis

      1. Jet5605
        1 month, 16 days ago

Thanks - I did think about them. Are you concerned that Verb's CS prospects might diminish if Brighton get fatigue from European football midweek? You think Tzolakis can keep up the returns?

        1. Ze_Austin
          1 month, 16 days ago

That's tough to tell by GW3

I don't think Tzolakis will keep getting many clean sheets, but I like that he plays for a battling defensive team. Usually good for save points

Then I'll play Verbruggen in his easier games and avoid any tough games because he doesn't get saves

And if one falls off, I'll perma-start the other or use FT

          1. Jet5605
            1 month, 16 days ago

Fair comments, especially the save points which could be the equivalent of DC.

My concern with Hull is that other teams' analysts will look at their first two games and figure them out pretty quickly.

Another option is to go with a £9.5m combo with Verb and someone like Hornicek who has great fixtures although it does mean a NEW double up unless I drop Hall for someone like Ajer. Kelleher also an option - I need to check the fixture rotation. I'm just not sure about an ARS triple up in defence. Double up seems enough.

I'd bench Gross/Sangare and play Palmer for sure.
      CFC will score against Arsenal.

      1. Jet5605
        1 month, 16 days ago

Good shout. Hall is also a contender for the bench with GroB on pens and Sangare looking great

      A

... but really, neither. Neither are nailed long term - Gvard isn't even nailed now with new mid purchases potentially pushing NoR back to the LB fight

  3. BR510
    1 month, 16 days ago

Yeah, dont understand the love for Chelsea outside Palmer and Pedro. Hull have been stubborn. How are the fixtures after?

    1. BR510
      1 month, 16 days ago

      Reply fail

    2. Amartey Partey
      1 month, 16 days ago

True. Hull might not be the whipping boys we had thought. I am still looking at Rogers, though.

      1. GoonerSteve
        1 month, 16 days ago

I think I'll do Cherki to Rogers next week, giving me the Chelsea front three triple up for Hull and their kind fixture run.

They have been very good so far, but they played a ManU side who didn't look sharp, especially Cunha up top, and then played Coventry who have also looked poor. The way Villa have been ripped apart means they have started poorly too and may not be a great test either.

Chelsea will be the first good attack they face and will be a serious test - and I for one have no idea how it will go (which is a big change from the start of the season when I was certain they'd get battered). Will be interesting to see, though I'll probably still be backing Palmer and Pedro

      1. ebb2sparky
        1 month, 16 days ago

I still think Chelsea will batter Hull in GW4. Unless I WC then I'll be without Palmer so I hope that Pedro and Rogers can take their share of the points.

G2G here? still undecided on Pedro v Calafiori. Thanks

    Kinsky
    Calafiori De Cuyper Hall Gvardiol
    Palmer Cherki Szoboszlai Sangare
    Haaland(TC) Wissa

    Matthews Pedro Konsa Tzolis

The fact that Cala has both the good defence so clean sheet possibility, and the Attacking return possibility against a poor Chelsea defence means I'd probably edge for him. Close though

  5. Bigler

    Which is better this week?

    A) Thiago(C)+Bruno
    B) Haaland(C)+JPedro

      B

        Exactly this

  6. CheesyZoot
    1 month, 16 days ago

    Bottomed last page:

Rodon + Mbuemo > De Cuyper + Cherki for free?

Then would you do a -4 for Calafiori > Gvardiol to complete the triple City?

Most likely will WC next week...

    1. Ze_Austin
      1 month, 16 days ago

Don't sell Calafiori, and definitely not for a hit

      1. 17th Time Lucky
        • Fantasy Football Scout Member
        1 month, 16 days ago

Completely this, even more so for Gvard when we have no idea how the man city team is going to look once the new signings settle in and NoR probably isn't in midfield any more

This week's moves look good, but if it's only for this week, I'd be tempted to roll both transfers, especially if you can stick Rodon on the bench. 2FTs is essentially 8pts. Are you confident that deCuyper and Cherki beat Mbuemo (against a leaky Everton) and whoever else you'd play by 8pts?

        1. CheesyZoot
          1 month, 16 days ago

These are 2 free transfers so don't really need to do the 8 point maths on them.

It would be Mykolenko vs United so yeah not great back up unfortunately.

Agreed on no -4 was just floating it around. Goal and cleansheet incoming now.

Either way at 190K OR at the moment so happy to play a bit aggressive and worry about a lack of transfer in a few weeks.

    Good afternoon all,

Would you free hit or wildcard this, I’ve already used 2 transfers for the Bruno / haaland switch .

    Verbruggen
    Ballard / white / calafiori
Le fee / mbuemo / semenyo / tzolis
    Haaland / Pedro / Isak

    Lammens / slater / Hume / rodon

If free hit I would then Wc next week or use two frees, but means likely keeping the 3 Sunderland for longer

If you're going to WC next week, don't also FH this week

  9. BR510

    2. Foden Hall, no Rogers but saves FT

So I've dropped Hume v Bre onto the bench to play L Davis v LFC

I think both concede several goals but L Davis may get joy down the flanks with an assist

    Good move

Saka with Rogers alongside as a good alternative to Palmer?

Rogers looks better than Palmer in the first few matches?

    1. 17th Time Lucky
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      1 month, 16 days ago

As long as Saka keeps playing 90 and looking this good. But I don't expect that to be happening once Europe starts up, so I'd go Palmer personally
