FPL Gameweek 7 Scout Picks: Three double-ups

As the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek 7 deadline approaches, it’s high time we shared our Scout Picks for the upcoming round of fixtures.

This is, essentially, a Free Hit in all but name, with each selection made with a focus on the upcoming Gameweek in isolation. Selections made in the Scout Squad earlier in the week are a big factor when it comes to deciding who made the final cut.

As ever, our picks were limited by certain restrictions:

  • An £83.0m budget for our starting XI
  • An overall squad limit of £100.0m
  • No more than three players per team

GAMEWEEK 7 SCOUT PICKS

GOALKEEPER

Man City v Man Utd team news: Donnarumma debut, Gvardiol, Foden + Sesko start

Between the posts, Gianluigi Donnarumma (£5.5m) gets the nod.

The Manchester City ‘keeper didn’t cover himself in much glory during his side’s midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, but three Premier League clean sheets from six attempts plus at least one save point in all but one match so far – giving him a league-high six in total – are promising stats ahead of a home meeting with Ipswich Town.

A nailed-on starter, the Italian stopper offers the safest route into a City backline that has been disrupted by rotation in recent outings but still boasts the best clean sheet odds this week.

DEFENDERS

De Cuyper, Pedro, Cherki, Gibbs-White: Buy, keep or sell in Gameweek 7?

We're spoilt these days. It used to be a legit strat to eke out the money with 4.0 defenders, even a non-playing one. I still like the idea, but you have to wonder if the money you saved is going to get you good mileage, or is it just for the showroom

Feeling good about playing Belloumi this week for an injured Schade. Got Belloumi off the bench last week too which was nice. I'm think he hauls against Fulham, and anyone who hasn't yet realised it yet, sees that Fulham are going down.

Probably Verbuggen and someone to rotate him with perhaps. Maybe like Kelleher if they rotate or another 4.5. Not that keeper rotation ever seems to work..., But well, you need a keeper for benchboost.

I get the logic, but Brighton don’t need to fear Anfield on current form. GW9 Kinsky covers nicely. Plus having two starting goalkeepers can be gold. I remember Roefs last season out for a while.

“Jannik and Kev have been on the grass this week and we’ll see what tomorrow brings in terms of how much they can do,” Andrews told the media at his press conference on Friday.

“They are different types of injuries. This week, we’ve had to navigate through a few issues. Those two are some of those who are making their way back from injury. Overall, we’re in a really good place.”

Cala, Konsa, Gvardiol, de Cuyper, Hall
    Rogers, Saka, Groß
    Haaland, J P
    Subs Wissa*, MGW*, Slater

I am thinking to change my formation to 2 forwards only. That means Wissa out for Kusi-Asare. Hoping for Gvardiol to start. Slater plays vs Fulham so if he comes on, it's not full disaster, he has one assist by now. Wissa dropping in price and I will need every penny to get Palmer for Slater. Can I survive with bench of MGW and Slater one week?

I’ll regret taking DCL out on WC won’t I?

Was thinking of a bench fodder 3rd striker and going 5 in midfield with Gross/Tavernier/Manzambi. Now that looked like a good idea last week, but feels like a pure sheep move now (excluding Gross which I am already too late joking the flock for).
