In ‘Goals Imminent’, we look at the underlying statistics to predict which players are about to score or assist in Gameweek 9.

That way, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers can be proactive, not reactive, with their transfers.

Marc and Joe have a regular Fantasy Football Scout podcast that discusses these underachievers, using the latter’s popular data table.

Naturally, we’ll try to distinguish between poor finishers and those who have just been unfortunate.

GOALS IMMINENT

Rayan (£6.3m) and Harvey Barnes (£6.1m) are the successes from last week’s table, with an honourable nod given to Josh King‘s (£5.6m) assist.

Ordered by xG delta, table number one shows players who’ve accumulated at least 10 shots over the latest four Gameweeks, but scored no more than one goal.

I thought Bruno Guimaraes silly little run up and stutter before that abomination of a penalty was more harmful to Arsenal than anything Max Dowman did last night. Arteta should give himself a wobble and remind himself how playing Kepa cost Arsenal before and now using Meslier is an even bigger crime against football.

I cant understand why they do that stuttering run-up, I am no professional football player, but to me it seems to make an already difficult task even more challenging.

because it allows the taker to see where the gk is diving then place it the other side. Hazard was pretty much the best i ever saw at it. If you can do the technique properly its incredibly effective.

Hazard made 50 and missed 8

Shearer made 73 and also missed 8

They've only ever won it twice, they don't have the right to play the "who cares" card

Before you ask, double Bournemouth is the way to go. Tavernier + Evanilson. Villa fixtures is a trap and Jackson is not the player most experts envision him to be. Stay safe.

And on what exactly are you basing this sweeping statement?. Villa 2.0 are an unknown quantity this season and Konsa notwithstanding I think they’ve strengthened in every position this season (and yes that includes Jackson)

      1. banskt

        Numbers.

After 8 games, Bournemouth are 3rd in the league for xG (15.06) despite playing teams like City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton. Villa are 18th for xG (9.12) with almost half of what Bournemouth have generated. Top creators are Brighton (16.59) and Manchester City (16.57).

Same for defense. After 8 games, Bournemouth are 3rd in the league for xGA (9.29) behind only Arsenal (6.06) and Nottingham Forest (8.97). Villa again sit 14th in the league (12.44), better than Hull City, Brentford, Newcastle, Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Ipswich.

On to individual players, Evanilson has 0.54 xGI/90 compared to Jackson's 0.44 xGI/90.

The only positive stat for Jackson is 4 goals from 1.83 xG.

Villa started with its B team and also had teams like Arsenal and Brighton - and just beat Man City.

Mazambi, Alysson, Gomes, Mbaye and Goretzka have only recently been incorporated into a team that has only just found its feat. 17 goals in the last 8 matches - and undefeated. Bournmouth haven't defeated anyone particularly difficult in their run - however I'm not saying Bournemouth aren't an option - I think both teams are.

The problem with your analysis is that it starts from the beginning of the season when Villa were running on its B team.

With Mbaye, Mazambi and Alysonn and possibly Ganarcho soon all feeding Jackson, I don't expect there to be much competition between Evanlison and Jackson - having said that - I have both players having opted for Evanilson over Isak despite having the cash to pick either.

Yes I like King too and decided to keep him. I’ll probably start him against Villa, and bench Gros, as they do ship goals at home.

*ndoye actually looks pretty solid at the minute as well. surprised glasner is always dragging him off early, hes always scoring for switzerland of late. thought glasner might make him his new sarr, mould him into that sorta role.

    2 City vs 3 Brighton
    2 Arsenal vs Liverpool
No solid alternatives for Cala and Konsa as Thomas might be out

    Verb ( Dubs )
Cala* Konsa DeCuyper ( Thomas* / Davis )
Cherki MGW Barnes Rogers ( Gomez )
    Haaland DCL Jackson

    0 FT / 5.6 ITB

    Do :

    A ) WC
    B ) FH
C ) Take a hit for another GK
    D ) Roll

    1. Bobby Digital

      D

Davis has a decent fixture and could come in for Cala

    2. F4L

could use the fh i guess, whats the transfer you've already done, will it be annoying if its cancelled? dont really think that team is WC worthy, good team. unless you really want to make wholesale changes.

maybe just hope cala is fit and ride out this gw and accept it wont be the greatest, but alot of other people will be in the same boat with brighton and arsenal assets. you have some nice differentials mgw/barnes/cherki/jackson etc that have the capability to provide a green arrow.

    A) Raya
    B) Kinsky

    D) Something else

Thanks. Seems like Raya is the best set and forget?

Pretty sure this will be a resounding no, but.... worth a -4 to do Robinson to Silva (which means I would bench Konsa this week)?
I really want Silva long term

It could work out if silva gets 8 and konsa gets 2 which isn't unlikely

Put these in order for a long term pick:

    A) Muharemovic
    B) Silva
    C) Vuskovic
    D) Tarkowski
    E) Murillo

    1. Bobby Digital

In that order. Maybe Silva over Muharemovic, but it's close.

I missed the price changes yesterday watching proper football, last night but is Pedro to Isak my strongest play?

    Have Jackson and Haaland.

DCL is another option for me.
