Laurent Koscielny is rated as doubtful for Arsenal’s home clash with Sunderland due to illness. Liam Bridcutt is ruled out for the Black Cats, though Jack Rodwell returns after a hamstring injury.

In his Tuesday pre-match press conference, Arsene Wenger confirmed that Laurent Koscielny is considered a doubt for tonight’s clash against the Wearsiders due to illness:

“We have an uncertainty about Laurent Koscielny that we will check today.”

The centre-half was then pictured in training later in the day, boosting his chances of making this evening’s match as the Gunners look for the win that would clinch third spot.

Wenger went on to admit that Mathieu Debuchy won’t be back in full training until Friday before conceding that he’s uncertain whether Danny Welbeck or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will prove their fitness in time for the upcoming FA Cup final on May 30:

“They are progressing well but they will not be available for Wednesday. I don’t know yet, let’s see how they all recover next week. Danny Welbeck is not available yet, he is not in full training, so I honestly don’t know. They all have to get fit very quickly now because there is not a long way to go [to the final]”.

Sunderland’s problems in central midfield are building ahead of the Emirates clash. Liam Bridcutt, who stood in for the injured Jordi Gomez at home to Leicester on Saturday, has been ruled out, though Jack Rodwell is back in contention after missing out recently with a hamstring problem.

Black Cats boss Dick Advocaat has hinted he may be ready to hand Adam Johnson his first start since the Dutchman’s arrival:

“He’s in the squad and when you are in the squad, there’s always a chance you will start. This team works so hard and you have to be fair to all of them, but Adam is a player who can do something different for us. His style is different from others – you saw that when he came on against Leicester.”

Advocaat also confirmed that Billy Jones has recovered from the knock that forced him off against the Foxes. With his first-choice right-back available, the Dutchman admitted that, although he won’t be parking the box tonight, his players need to be defensively aware:

“I still think we have to think about goal difference. I think we have to try to get a goal there [at Arsenal]. But we can’t give the game away 2-0, let’s put it like that. And certainly not like we did against Crystal Palace. We have to stay clever to the end. Arsenal have too much individual skill to do that (park the bus). But we have to try and make it as hard as possible for them defensively.”

Brought Yaya in for week 36 as a punt when he delivered me a 1 point cameo disaster in a horrid week for me.

Got me a brace in week 37 to apologize. I'll take it.

As you want to read some out on Scoutcast...

If Koscielny gets rested and Bellerin plays I took out Bellerin in GW34 as prep for this game week to get Arsenal attackers.

Ended up going against getting Giroud and got Koscielny instead!

Changed my mind last minute for taking a hit for Sterling and Skrtel to Cazorla and PVA
Just did Hazard to Cazorla instead
      Dropped from 1050 to 1400
      Take a hit where necessary

It's more of a short term one but one I'm so happy with.

Schmeichel/Gilks goalkeeper combo seemed a crazy risk on wildcard despite the strong fixtures for Leicester. Think back, this was Leicester the championship team in the prem. since doing this move the least he has scored me is 7 and that cumulative boost has basically secured my mini league. I was so close to Davis/Gilks which seemed safer.

These small margins , gambles almost, make such a difference! Is it luck ? Yes.

Cheap as chips option - Davis/Myhill would also have worked out nice with Myhill being autosubbed in. But I agree, Schmeichel has been an utter bargain (guess who went for Migs in the DGW instead..)

This is a cracker...I left Mane on my bench in the FPL game proper. However in my draft league game, I switched Fellaini for Mane with 10 minutes before deadline. My team also included Benteke, PVA and Pantilimon. My opponent who also happens to be my housemate earlier had taken out Shane Long of all people for Diouf. He also had Alderweireld. Well you can imagine the drama in the pub as the game unfolded! To add insult to injury, he also benched Gomis and Herrera from his side!

Would've been in the top 10 in India otherwise 🙁 .. And it led me to bench Huth too 😎 .. couldn't have asked for more of a feck up! it made my realise that This is why i need a rival in my ML till the last GW.. wrapped up the ML last week so took my foot off the pedal 🙂

I did an early transfer of Hazard to Gomez. A day later Gomez was ruled out for the season. I tried to get hazard back but not I didn't have the funds! Prayed all weekend for a Hazard blank because all my ML players had kept him in.
Long story short I did Hazard to Mata for a -4 :/

      1) At the very last minute switching Henderson to Phillips in my starting line up.

      2) The move took me up from 96 to 56, but more importantly it kept Mark at bay despite Mane's best efforts.

      3) Lesson learned is to have conviction and don't let history impair your decision making. I got burnt the GW before playing Phillips and benching Hendo the tempting option was to "play it safe" this week.

Move of success: I brought in two SUN defenders and Pantz for the dgw. I believe that I was the only person out of three and a half million-odd to perform this manoeuvre.

Surprisingly small-but significant-rise of about a thousand places from 7k to 6k as I continue to storm up the leaderboard.

What have I learned? Examine the risk and reward of such a move. Consider what the downside is. In this case, having three SUN players in the defence at this stage of the season, costs me nothing. It was the same with the three WBA defenders. A differential with low risk. I also learnt that no one listens to me.

To be fair, you had a WC. No-one in their right mind would have 3 Sunderland vs Chelsea on the last game of the season without suitable bench fodder to come in. Very tricky to do that without a WC. Hugely risky seeing as Leicester are the form team too.

What's with the "poor me" line at the end? Who cares whether people listen to you? You don't need their affirmation.

Took out Puncheon for Albrighton for a -4 two weeks ago (based myself on creating chances and team performance).

Puncheon started on the bench but came on and scored in the first week (Albrighton blank).
Puncheon started and scored in the second week (Albrighton blank).

As a sidenote, I'm chasing my ML rival with 5 points behind. So this was excruciating.

      1) Fabregas to Silva.
      2) Halted my slow drop out of the top 10k (8k up to 6k)
      3) Dropping DGW players who underperform and jumping back on form assets asap. Sold Sanchez and Silva for Fabregas & Coutinhio for DGW34. Sanchez came straight back for Coutino. Missed Silva's big haul last week bringing in Cazorla but at least picked up points and avoided a red card this week!

Depends what happens tonight but Koscielny not playing and Bellerin starting would be a bit of a mare.

Bought Koscielny this week after selling Bellerin in GW34 (when I could have sold the injured for the season Haidara) on the basis that Bellerin would be getting rotated with Debuchy by this point and I needed to free up an Arsenal spot for a safe DGW defender. Cost me a hit too.

Hopefully Koscielny gets himself a goal and CS tonight so this can go in the smooth!

51 points on my bench was pretty sickening, more points than my total outfield :/

posted this the other day and said 56 incorrectly because I actually started one of my players who I thought on my bench...

so the smooth is that I only had 51 points on my bench and not 56

Dgw fever set in for 34 and I did Silva and Mane out for Sterling and Henderson, -4. I need about 40 points from Ozil and Cazorla tonight to smooth that rough edge.

Went for gold in GW30 by captaining Austin over Kane.

Tried a contrarian pick again in GW36 & captained Sanchez over Aguero.

Missed both hattricks & it cost me a Top 1k finish.

But, I never got around to transferring out Mane, so I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

      1. Mane.
      2. With assistance from Silva, PVA and Pants, I rose from 507 to 207 prior to the Arsenal-Sunderland match.
      3. If I hadn't been disciplined about not taking hits, Mane would have been transferred out by now. Discipline pays off in the long run.

One thing I have realised is that the knock-on effect of transfer(s) made or not made can last for a longer time.

My recent example is Fabregas. I wildcarded in GW34 with a clear plan of transfers till the end of season. My transfer in GW35 was supposed to be Fabregas to Sanchez and I had the cash in the bank ready for it.

GW34 went very well (104 points) but when it came to GW35 I thought Fabregas was playing well and also saw that if I waited till GW36 I could remove Sterling and Henderson in one go. So I saved FT and missed Sanchez' 15-pointer.

Scrolling forward, that meant I still had Fabregas in my team this week for his bizarre sending-off. Had I followed my original plan I'd have had Schlupp playing instead of being benched. That's an additional 8 points difference. And for GW38 I have had to take a -4 to replace Fabregas.

In total, that one decision in GW35 will have cost me around 25 points. That's almost the difference between 10k and 5k and is quite significant for me as I am trying to nail a top 10k finish in my first season. 😕

In terms of lessons learned I am having to consider whether I am too biased towards Chelsea players in my decision-making.

Very odd week to be honest. Kind of mixed but left sour taste.

Jumped to 49k from 65k so the week should have been great. Every transfer paid off besides Sanchez and Cazorla.

But in Cash ML my challenger who was 10 points behind now leads by 17. He had more than awesome week. Rose, Puncheon, Panti, and Mane just to name a few. Leading for over 30 GWs with him slightly ahead on few. But this is massive let down with 1 GW to go.

      Such is FPL.

      Cambiasso ➡ Walcott

      11.2k ➡ 11.7k

But this isnt about rank. Getting in Walcott in a week when he wasnt due to start and pulled out attacking points. Sure he only matched the other Arsenal players, however, he came with flair that counts as success. I can hold my head up and say, I successfully owned Theo this season. Rank gives short term happiness, flair last a lifetime.

This is surely massively influenced by who you support. For example, Man U and Chelsea fans have seen their teams win the prem a number of times so an FPL win would seem a no brainer. However fans of teams such as Burnley or Liverpool would have a much tougher choice

Granville had better not whinge about Mark being lucky with Mane. Mark has sat through a number of weeks of good stats from Mane with no returns (as have I). What a season Mark is having. I want to hear some congratulations for him this scoutcast.

Jonty, I'd like to know & I think this could make a decent topic for your daily question too:

"If your FPL team / season was a Premier League player, which player would it have been?"

For example, my season has been a total Fabregas...

      - Roaring start, slight plateau, & then a nothing really memorable or exciting to speak of since Xmas.

Has this not been the worst season ever for the casuals? I look at my various mini leagues, and the normal one hit wonders are nowhere to be seen in the summit, only established steady and good managers whith proven records.
Fewer goals scored, fewer clean sheets, fewer high scoring profiles, have given less free waves to ride for the causals, leaving them way behind. It has been a gritty forgettable season in many ways, but quite an easy run for the skilled fantasy manager grinding out points with patience and rational thinking, compared to last season. Right? 🙂

So many options for the final gw, I couldnt say which is the best one all good punts

                  Young
                  Marhez
                  Punch
                  Bolasie

I like Marhez myself thinking of doing this move myself with Lukaku

Yup.. Plan was to play Mane and Phillips and bench Hazard. Then Mourinho came out and said Hazard should start so it seemed a bit crazy benching him or any of the other two. So i decided to just sell mane and make my dilemma easy.. An early transfer wouldve really benefitted me rather than waiting until Friday night 🙁

Those that sell Kane ahead of GW38 with their mini league riding on it, are completely justified based on the OPTA stats. Just 4 shots in the box in the last 4 game weeks tells its own story. Well done to those who predicted the drop off in returns or simply took a punt earlier.

With a 7pt mini league lead before tonight's match, and with us both owning Kane, selling him now could so easily bite me where it hurts. Punting on Lukaku could be the ultimate wum where your attention is on the Eve - Spurs game and Kane decides to deliver for one last time.

I have Kane and am chasing so will 100% sell

If I was leading I would 100% keep.

guess in a way it's nice to be chasing a lead as it will be a more glourious win that defending the lead, plus you get to take punts.

Lukaku captain could be where it's at depending how many points I am behind after tonight

Which kits for next season have taken your fancy? (Apart from Newcastle having already started next season with a gaffe by putting the wrong sponsor logo on their replica shirts)

The new chelsea kits look crisp like a French national jersey as always.
I think the logo on the new City shirt looks a bit too cheesey and the away kit is going to be an instant identifier for jerks on FIFA UT next season.

Hmmm...slightly worrying from the long term aspect of the relationship. 😕

Next week I'm playing in a H2H final.

    My team is

    Schmeichel (Myhill)
    Ivanovic Kolarov Okore (Cameron Duff)
    Sanchez Hazard Ramsey Cazorla (Albrighton)
    Aguero Benteke Vardy

    And he is

    Ospina
    Ivanovic Skrtel Fonte (PVA Hutton)
    Sanchez Silva Ozil Puncheon (Grealish)
    Aguero Benteke Kane

Should I get Silva and neutralise his threat, or Kolarov/Ivan to Terry who I think will score?

Would probably swap Rambo or Cazorla to Silva if you can afford to do so. Otherwise, you are well covered.
