We delve into the members data this evening after the Gameweek came to its conclusion last night. Stoke, Southampton and Watford’s forwards all come under analysis, whilst Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez make a strong claim for immediate investment on the back of their weekend showings.

    Butland (Schmeichel)
    Francis Azpi Mert (Saylor, Huth)
Hazard (v) Mane Ozil Mahrez (Wanyama)
    Wilson Aguero (c) Benteke

Any suggestions for a move or G2G? Already used my FTs.

So I like the look of Soton and Swans. Question is

    A-Gomis and Mane
    B-Pelle and Payet

So I'm not WCing and I have a fairly template GW1 team.

This week I've suffered my first drop with Sterling losing 0.1. Hardly the 0.5-1.0 worth of drops people were predicting earlier in the week.

Yeah thats another thing altogether and I agree. However I think people were prepared to stick it out if it wasn't for the 'fact' they'd lose 0.5-1.0m in value. They have been fooled by the looks of things.

It was last year too when large numbers wildcarded in the first international break.

International breaks are always fools gold for price changes. The only advantage I see in it is the extra time to think and the ability to adjust to international injuries.

                    • 11 Years

I agree. But I think the first international break last year was the closest example last season to what is going on this week - so many wildcarded in that break that it actually was counter productive to those who were wildcarding to gain value.

Just to be clear, I wasn't fearing a couple of my players experiencing multiple price drops, but a large number, who were already in negative NTI after GW1, suffering 0.1 drops. That's why I won't know until Saturday whether I was right to be cautious or not.

As another note, if we were playing by last season's wildcard rules my thinking would have been very different. I went into the season with a default position of holding it until close to Christmas, but being open to the possibility of playing it earlier. My poor start plus the strong performance of teams about to come into a good run of fixtures created a fertile ground for using the wildcard. Nevertheless, I would have still liked to hold it until later - but the potential widespread price drops pushed me over the edge. If I could have held my first wildcard over into the second half of the season, I'm not sure I would have jumped on the wildcard because the possible benefit of having it for a DGW might well have outweighed the potential team value impact and other factors now.

Don't blame them, thank them. It's forced a lot to wildcard when they don't want to handing a sizeable competitive advantage to the rest of us

I don't see how you think it is an automatic advantage that you get to use your wild card between now and GW 19 and others who used it this week won't get any advantage

I don't think the sites are the problem, so much as the fog. We can't tell what is an effective transfer and what isn't and they are struggling too. I think the sites are trying to predict the volume of wildcards being played and adjust according, but in the fog they can't tell which players are more subject to effective transfers and which are more subject to non-effective transfers. The popular picks on here are probably disproportionately affected by wildcard transfers because so many of the community are wildcarding.

Nevertheless, if, like me, you owned players like Cedric and Coates, I don't think it was unreasonable to think that they could be sold by non-wildcarding owners as much as wildcarders.

True - so far. I'm happy to admit I was one of those fearing that outcome for my team and have transferred 10 players out as a precaution on my wildcard (a couple may return when the danger is past). The volume of wildcards, particularly among FFS players (who probably selecting from a smaller pool of players than the wider FPL masses) has been so great it is negating some of the effect.

That being said, we still have three more nights of changes to go and the market will pick up towards the end of the week, particularly among non-wildcarders who have be more cautious about their transfer(s).

Its the FFS bandwagons I'm interested in. Some are being transferred out on mass by FFS WCers and it will count for nothing. Same can be said for some players coming in.

Indeed. Clearly though there are picks like Yaya, Aguero, Darmian, Kompany, Mahrez and Gomez that are - or were - moving in the the non-wildcarders market.

Almost I told you so. Since Monday I have been posting that risers and fallers are slow. DO NOT WC.

I'd be concerned if people were only WCing for price changes. That certainly factored into my thinking but I possibly would have done so regardless. Personally some of my picks weren't looking so good anymore and with City coming into form with a good run of fixtures getting 3 in was high on my list of priorities. Also with player such as Sanchez coming back I saw an opportunity to get a head a bit by getting all those players in a couple of weeks or so before others.

39 price drops today alone!!! including Faber and Sterling... personally I had too many people in my team all heading for at least an 0.1 drop so wild carding was the only way forward given the bad 1st two gameweeks for points as well

7 of my original team from last week still on course for 0.1 drop by the end of the week and Aguero will be at least 0.2 up from last week...so wild carding was the only way forward.. good luck to those who still have em

Sterling and Fabregas were the only players of significance to us. The vast majority were non starters none of us own. This 39 drops etc is just fear mongering.

I picked Ayew. Goal attempts much higher, basically all in the box. Payet is all class and i'll bring him soon in but as i already has Sakho i wanted to get in on the quality Swansea attack

Quite. Simply because there are few captaincy alternatives. It wouldn't surprise me to see Everton turn it on at home though.

What's the reason most people choose Williams over naughton? Is he more nailed on? I'm sure naughton has more attacking potential so that's why I ask.

Villa are lacking teeth and Mou does have a bad history with Pulis. But why would you spend 5.5 on a goalkeeper if you were planning on benching him

    Aguero / Pellé / Gomis

    Kun Graziano Christian

The idea is that if you're going to captain Aguero every week then whats the point of unbalancing the rest of your team with heavy hitters that you wont captain. Thats my theory anyway

Top transferred out D, M and F are Ivan Haz and Roon. None have even dropped 0.1...

A little counter-intuitive but is it correct to say that if you choose 4.0 or 4.5 bench fodder, go for the highest ownership because they are more drop resistant?

not really because the higher ownership will mean high transfers out and it will lead to a drop eventually....the only reason not many have dropped so far is because the ownership of 4.0 and 4.5 is more varied than the big well known hitters. But Courtois was 5.5 and when he got his red he had an influx of outs and went down straight away. The only reason I'd assume they;ll be resistant is if the high ownership was not transferred out because many of the high ownerships wouldn't be serious players or more cautious, but without that and assuming everyone have the same rationality and seriousness of the game, it won't be any different between big or small.

Reading far too much into ownership. Has nothing to do with it. The players that are dropping are being sold on mass because they aren't playing

I'm coming round to that view although I cannot reconcile the lack of price drops so far of say Rooney.

        216k transfers out 35% ownership x 3.2m players = 1.1m

that's over 20% transferred out. By any measure he should have dropped.
