We delve into the members data this evening after the Gameweek came to its conclusion last night. Stoke, Southampton and Watford’s forwards all come under analysis, whilst Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez make a strong claim for immediate investment on the back of their weekend showings.

Should I sell any one of Ramsey, Sterling and Depay? They all have been underperforming and are nearing price fall.

Sterling's the priority of those three. There's better (and cheaper) options in the City midfield.

Good thing with Sanchez is if he does not produce its very easy to switch to Hazard. Ozil has the advantage that the extra 2.5 million is a massive upgrade elsewhere in the team, but all but rules out Hazard

The other reason to ignore Sanchez and Hazard is that with Aguero such an obvious capt choice they are somewhat devalued

The only risk with your last point is if Kun gets injured, and his history with hamstrings and the like does not fill me with confidence for a full season, it is hard to upgrade to Haz/Sanchez

      1. Eze Really?
        • 11 Years

I decided a long time ago I can't have Haz and Kun in my team early on.
Silva PPG is as good as Haz and I see no reason why it won't remain the same. Injuries to either of Kun or Silva makes it easy to revert to Haz.

    A) lukaku (or another 8 mil striker), coutinho, mane

    Or

    B) benteke, depay, Barkley

Means that I have some liv and eve cover in both teams. Got a feeling about Everton doing well during these tough fixtures!

    Thanks!

Don't see it. Bilic specifically praised Obiang's contribution and a 16yo kid ain't gonna keep him out of the team now he's fit. Impressive debut but understandably Oxford will have to do some learning.

Do most people go for a cheap (4.5m) Mid/Fwd 'bencher' and just have a main front 7?

This worked for me last season with Georgey Boyd, but I've gone for a full attacking 8 (on a WC) and with rotation it could pay dividends. But it does run the risk of leaving good points on the bench.

    1. n-doggg
      • 13 Years
      10 years, 3 months ago

Hate leaving my a +5.5 mid on the bench or a +6.5 striker. I guess without hazard that is possible though.

Yea it's a Hazard-less team. But with the indifferent start to the season I'd prefer an extra option rather than a player who I'll never play. Once I need Hazard in I should be able to downgrade to a bencher somewhere and have just a front 7.

    2. Chinu
      • 11 Years
      10 years, 3 months ago

Rotating attackers are unnecessary headaches Imo. Always better to have 4.5m bench fodder with a heavy front 7.

    3. dmhomag
      • 11 Years

      Scenario 7m 7.5m (Ayew/Payet) vs 1x4.5m 1x10m (Wanyama Silva)

Basically you have an extra 2.5m wasting on the bench every week.

At the end of the season, your Ayew/Payet rotations from fixtures must do better than the season points difference between Silva and Payet, which may be well over 50 points.

        So you would prefer

        Sanchez, Hazard, Yaya, Mahrez, 4.5
        over
        Sanchez, Silva, Chadi, Ayew, Mahrez?

If you aim to play four miss per week there is sound logic in having a fifth with some point scoring potential. Essentially the cost is about 1m. I.e. Shelvey over Wanyama.

There will be occasions were someone has a horrible fixture, is rested, has an unannounced injury, an announced injury that will only last a week or two, pulls up in the warmup before the game. It covers a number of scenarios and I would feel naked without the cover.

I am also happy to have bench headaches. I enjoy them 😉

If you intend to fix 3 defenders I think one piece of fodder is fine.

Noticed some mods are around so i'm gonna repeat my question from last night cause no one seemed sure..
What constitutes a penalty box touch in the stats? If say Montero receives the ball in the box, dribbles(with 2 touches), changes direction and dribbles again(2 touches) and then passes in the box itself does he get 6 touches recorded? or just 3 cause the dribble would be considered as one touch.. or 4 cause the change in direction is considered as an additional touch?

    1. Valar(Keith)
      • 16 Years
      10 years, 3 months ago

i use this stat(along with chances/shots in box) a lot to make my decision so i'd like to know what exactly i'm using 🙂

    2. Valar(Keith)
      • 16 Years
      10 years, 3 months ago

Or is the entire time he entered the box received the ball until the point he released the ball considered one touch?

    3. Ludo
      • 12 Years
      10 years, 3 months ago

I think the change in direction counts as an additional touch. Explains the huge numbers for the likes of Sanchez and Wilson - it's not that they're being found in the box fifteen times a game, but that when are, they twist, turn and take five touches at a time.

Yeah so all of those count as touches in the box. 1 raiding run could easily be 6 touches inside the box from tricky players like Sanchez.

😯 .. maybe i've been goin about it wrong with this stat then . Assumed a dribble would be considered as max 1/2 touches. not for the entire dribble in the box.. The likes of Sanchez/Montero etc will have inflated stats then whereas the likes of Pelle/Giroud etc who dont really dribble in the box will have more meaningful stats

Some of the biggest stories making today's back pages...

    - Man City are set to splash out £88m on Kevin De Bruyne and Nicolas Otamendi, with Wolfsburg ready to sell De Bruyne if City go to £56m for the midfielder (Mirror)

    - Tensions at Chelsea have risen because of Pedro's likely move to Manchester United. Roman Abramovich wanted to hijack the deal , but Jose Mourinho is adamant the player would not fit into his team (Sun)

    - PSG striker Edinson Cavani could join Arsenal this week as the Gunners appear set to give up their pursuit of Real Madrid's Karim Benzema (Telegraph)

    - Everton will give in to Chelsea and sell John Stones if they are offered £40m for the young defender (Star)

    - Fenerbahce are lining up a shock move for John Terry as his contract with Chelsea winds down (Mail)

    - Liverpool have agreed a deal to sign Spain star Dani Ceballos from Real Betis (Express)

Because they haven't yet got the base numbers right.

I really can't see this wild cards thing at all.

The base numbers are the same for each player for rises.
Obviously every WC has him hence no rise. No point saying the site is working well when a player is way over the base number.

Last year, the base numbers were off for a bit early on because FPL hid key data after the season had started. This year, I think the effective sites have been keeping their own track of it from the off. Where I think they are struggling is working out how many wildcards are being played and, more specifically, which players those wildcard transfers are affecting.

Anyone considering Cortouis on their wildcard? Hit the button before the rises/falls last night (had already made a double transfer) and now looking at him at 5.4. Surely will go straight back into a team where both himself and the rest of the team have a point to prove?!

You'd suspect Mourinho to revert to type and try get a run of 1 or 2-0 victories going.

5.4 is a fantastic price for the league's best goalie in a traditionally tight defence. In previous years you'd be looking at 6.5 for the pleasure.

What do we think of this WC team?

    Myland
    Kolarov Jenks Francis Gomez Richards
    Silva Depay Payet Ayew 4.5
    Kun Pelle Diouf

    1.8itb atm.

Plan is to downgrade Pelle to Deeney after GW4, to free up funds for Hazard/Sanchez in midfield.

    Any suggestions would be great!

It is normal. All the casual teams are full of players that don't play. These are the players that are dropping in value. Just look at the names.

I agree it's mostly players who haven't started, but a few names I'm surprised with,

        Sterling, Courtois, Fabregas, Wilson, Ritchie

I just don't remember in previous years, allbeit only two, so many players, especially on 0.1% original ownership, dropping so quickly

        1. Price change sites like FFF are less accurate when a lot of wildcards are active because that upsets their calculations. Usually they are very good but I suspect this week will break the record for wildcards played in any one GW.

        2. I believe wildcard transfers DO count though in a reduced way and not until deadline. This is because a wildcard transfer hasn't actually been finally made until the wildcard expires, if they counted every wildcard transfer for price changes it would be open to manipulation.

        3. Last season during winter wildcard there were a host of price changes on the Saturday night after the wildcards unwound. I suspect the same will happen this week.

No. But I still might. My big concerns were not enough information and GW13 which is a big fixture shift. I wanted to save my wildcard till then.

However I now have a route from a wildcard now to the team I want in GW13 which still leaves some transfers free for eventualities. I will decide today I think.
