We roll out the final instalment of our three-part series of Big Numbers articles, focusing on players by position over the last four Gameweeks. Having assessed the Defenders and Midfielders, it’s now time to analyse the options up front, with Leicester, Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool’s strikers all turning in some impressive numbers.
What's with a small minority of the Irish not respecting the minute silence tonight? Couldn't believe what I was hearing. Glad they were booed.
Bit difficult to tell from that video. Heard it on the radio while driving home and tbh didn't cross my mind it would be Bosnian fans as they can't have taken too many over to Dublin. Looks like it was them though, apologies for jumping to the wrong conclusion.
I thought it might have been something as ridiculously petty as Thierry Henry's handball. Madness. 😕was bosnian end. was at the game.
cheers, such a shame
It's grand
im pretty sure they were bosnian
Do we know they were Irish? It's shameful but I worry about tomorrow. Let's hope my fellow countrymen don't disappoint me.
There are always some idiots woy but I think on this occasion that due to the threat being just as high for all of Western Europe I think we will see 100% solidarity with the French
I remember there were a few "jokers" after the World Trade Centre attacks
Bring in licensed breeding I say. The sad fact is these idiots can freely breed, darwinian theory at it's worst says their progeny will likely be no better 🙁
For the record, those Sept 2011 idiots were Frank Lampard, John Terry, Jody Morris and Eidur Gudjohnssen. While the others may have matured a bit, we're still waiting for Mr John Terry to grow up.
Thanks Woy that made me smile. I've been semi depressed since the events of Friday evening and even my twins 4th bday yesterday and Ireland winning today doesn't seem to be dragging me out of it.
The events of Friday were truly shocking. But it's perhaps a positive thing that the response will be more robust and resolute. That said, there's nothing to smile about with ISIS and the sooner it's destroyed, the better.
I think that fact we don't seem to be making any headway against this type of extremism and if anything only exacerbating it is one of the most depressing things about the tragedy.
The sooner the better alright for everyone, Muslim, Christian, Atheist and all other religions alike.
It was the Bosnians. The noise the Irish made was telling them to shut up.
Cmon out of that now.
I'm surprised by you Twisty, posts like this make me want the return of the minus vote button!
I don't know who it was but I'd imagine it was the Bosnian's whose majority religion is Muslim afaik but as can also be clearly heard the crowd were booing those making noise until some clever clogs started to clap to drown out the sound of the idiots.Happy for this to be down voted, Dino!
The majority were booing those not respecting the minute silence. There would've been many people listening on 5 Live hearing the disrespect and perhaps jumping to the same conclusion as I did. I admit it's likely that I jumped to the wrong conclusion - just over 50% of Bosnia are Islamic. It could be another wrong conclusion that they did it because they are muslims. I sure hope it is.
Well, the preferred reason would be a few drunken idiots that didn't know any better, and won't even remember come the morning.
Exactly.
I'll happily +1 that one twisty
I'm afraid it's not an isolated incident.
I don't think they were drunk. Just regular idiots.
Yeah I hope not too camp no no.
I didn't mean it as a slur on Muslims (although it obviously is one as I generalised based on religion) I was just looking for a reason as to why the Bosnians might have been booing.
I think the Islam religion is getting so badly misrepresented by all these idiots that they may actually get the war they are after. People are close to getting to a stage where they are sick of being afraid and are starting to get angry. Hopefully the powers that be will sort it out peacefully.I agree exceptionally strongly with you here.
+1
Yeah I knew that the divide during the war was partly between the catholic Croats and the Muslim Bosnians, I thought it might have been more actually.
Not to worry Twisty I know you weren't trying to be deliberately provocative. You're one of the good eggs hence why I was surprised by the post. I understand where it came from now though, I just hope that is not the impression most who listened on five live have been left with.
it was barbaric behaviour indeed.
btw. bosnia is not predominantly muslim country.
there are as many christians fyi. Thanks Abdul, I think twisty has the the stats that just over 50% are of the Islamic faith. As per above I did think it was higher but that is just my ignorance please don't hold it against me.
That error is easily explainable by the fact that Bosniaks are predominantly muslim - and I wouldn't be surprised if they made most of the current ultra-fanbase of Bosnia NT.
they exclusively occupy the stands (diaspora having a huge percentage, radical right wing). rarely do serbs and croats support bosnian national side, except in some regions.
Thanks. So, then, the fans in the match probably were mostly muslims? I really hope this has nothing to do with the reason why they broke the silence.
They certainly were.
Unfortunately, stupid fascist are usualy the loudest.sorry for typos.
Why would it?
I agree, it's hard to see any rational reason for that. Well, except for a one, but that is to embrace the greatest irrationality of them all and make your conduct a rational means towards that end.
They were mostly muslims, but the jeering was not neccessarily connected to that. Might be just the fact that they have a tradition of not being among the best of fans, sportsmanship wise.
Yet I heard they applauded the Irish players when the game was over?
As I said 'traditionally' 🙂
The reason for jeering were probably just a couple of guys looking for attention.
There's hoping. As I said above, it could be another hasty wrong conclusion that them being muslims was the reason to this disgrace.
if I may say so,bhf (bosnia&herzegovina fanaticos) who usually follow their national team are a bunch of small minded diaspora people.
no class,no respect, lack of sportsmanship like you said.
not to be taken seriously in supporters world.
speaking precisely about religion, bosniaks are mostly moderate muslims (if st like that even exist) but there is a rising number of bosniak atheists in the north-eastern part of the country.
Interesting. +1.
True as a country, but Bosnia actually consists of 3 nations, the actual Bosnians are predominantly Muslims.
So Kane is the one to buy?
could of told ya that weeks ago
Why didn't ya?
maybe u wernt around sorry mate
lol
Coulda woulda shoulda! I think you deliberately withheld vital information.
You nailed that one chief
Problem if you don't have him is that Aguero is coming back too.
I had put funds aside on my WC but I wasn't expecting all of Kun, Kane, Vardy and Lukaku to look like excellent picks...Kane was one to buy three weeks ago. keep up.
Anyone know where I could try to buy tickets for England vs. France tomorrow?
A little google always does the trick.
outside the stadium
aguero, kane and defelou (8pt hit) for benteke, pelle and sanchez, cant decide
Then don't
looking to get aguero in asap
Good luck
what about benteke and sanchez to kane and ozil short term then?
As a French, if I go to the game tomorrow wearing a french jersey with a French flag in the home supporters section of Wembley, is that a big deal? It's a friendly after all.
Not at all a big deal.
I think you may find a few England fans with French shirts on tomorrow..Get yourself on twitter and get it trending...or whatever it is you need to do...
Nice idea!
Not at all! I imagine you'll be surrounded by 80k friends tomorrow.
I would be amazed if it's an issue.
Cheers all.
It would be a great gesture but don't be surprised if you're not allowed in or kicked out. Stewards are very strict. Though this is a valid exception.
This. I really have no clue about the topic, but I'd take another T-shirt with me just in case.
The first four big numbers in the article indicate the "which strikers" debate is very much alive and kicking. The fourth is an interesting one which highlights a forward who doesn't get mentioned much.
The replacement of Payet and the choice of forwards over the next few weeks represents an opportunity to advance for those that get it right - or fall behind for those that don't. That's good for FPL.Who to transfer Ayew out for
Lanzini or Redmond
Deulofeu
How come Malaysia has so many FPL teams?
Top 5 country leagues:
England 1,415,673
Ireland 218,526
Malaysia 193,552
USA 177,509
India 131,835
More than USA, India, Australia... Neighboring Indonesia's population is almost 10 times larger, yet there are only 80K FPL teams from Indonesia. Don't know much about Malaysia and find this a bit weird...people pick random countries to have a higher rank in the country ranks
Central African Republic 😎
I don't think there are too many people randomly picking Malaysia specifically 🙂
A lot of Malaysians follow PL football especially Manchester United and Liverpool
Is Malaya generally regarded as a richer country than others in the area?
I was in KL in 2001 and they had 100 mb fibre broadband at that time (we were still on dial up at the time). If they have kept ahead internet wise in the interim then tech wise they will have a big advantage over the Indonesian's (one possible reason)
Everyone has 20 teams?
one possible explanation, Dino mentioned above they are tech savvy with excellent Internet out there 🙂
@SP did you really bag FPL ID 1,000,000?
Yep, was hoping to get an email: 'Congratulations, you're 1,000,000th registered user!' and to get a prize. Got nothing 🙁
I'm 1234. Any good?
Not as good as 1234567
Or 1.
Nah, 1 is easier if you aim for a specific ID
Does the same guy get 1 every year?
Not anymore.
Incredible! did you plan it?
Pure coincidence 🙂
had 999,999 last year 😉😛
That is pretty crazy. Interesting to say the least.
big big Man U and Liverpool followings from summer tours and subsequent TV deals.
their favorite teams structure isnothing special, MU and Liverpool have slightly more fans (as % ) compared to an average country but nothing special really, it has more to do with the interest to the Premier League / FPL in general
This is the best primer I could find, though its main point is how the EPL is ruining Malaysian football:
http://inbedwithmaradona.com/journal/2011/12/19/a-gluttonous-infatuation-malaysia-and-the-premier-league.htmlGood article, thanks, confirms that they are crazy about Premier Leagueand it's not just FPL. Wonder what's so different in Indonesia, so that English football didn't get this popular there.
*note the date from this is 2011 and since then they've also had Vincent Tan in the EPL as well as Tony Fernandez. Add to the ownership issue, they always seem to have 1 or 2 shirt sponsors in the league.
I'm actually more surprised that Ireland are 2nd.
?
Didn't think they would have the 2nd most amount of people playing FPL. Isn't Rugby big over there? Irish football is a bet meh.
Irish football is meh, that's why we follow the epl, hence lots of us play fpl
Not many watch the Irish football league though most watch the EPL. Don't think any of my mates don't watch the EPL tbh.
Circa 2.7% of England's population are playing fpl and circa 4.8% of the Irish population are playing fpl so almost double 😮
Quite surprised how many teams are from the USA also.
Bit stupid I'll have to get rid off both Pelle and Mane ahead of Villa at home just to get Aguero.
Will you captain Aguero that week?
Prob no. But I have 2 FT now which I kept for Kun, and now I don't know what to do with them. Want to get Rojo, but only 0.1 ITB.
Bellerin - Cedric - Janmaat - Moreno - O'Shea
Sanchez -KDB - Eriksen - Mane - Mahrez
Pelle - Lukaku - Vardy
I will also be ditching them both next week in order to fund Aguero.
Just think of it as more than a one week decision. Which it is.Yeah. Will be nice differential at the begining when his ownership is still low.
1524 qualified in Last Man Standing.
http://torresmagic.webs.com/lmsupdate.htm for the scores needed if you want to enter. Some of those didn't really qualify as they never survived GW1-12.
Pass 12 stages = qualification
12 byes if necessary.
Best video I've seen in a long time.
https://player.vimeo.com/video/145924358Haha, who is Superman?
Brilliant!
Even Keano is jumping and laughing with him at the end 😆
class who is that headcase in the superman costume?
Great night for irish soccer.
Is FPL playing fast and loose with the injury flags?
I've now reached 7........my h2h opponent this week so far has zilch.......I'd worry more on Saturday morning if they are there.
Which of your players are injured ?
Kompany
Bellerin
VDV
Payet
Ayew
Bony
Vardy
McCarthy back-up keeper.......Most of them will be fit
I must share your optimism
I think Ayew is fine.
You must have lost lots of value holding onto Van der Vaart
VVD
Beat me to it haha 🙂

http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/swansea-city-star-andre-ayew-10452663Nice +1
Bony has a hamstring injury and lets face it Aguero starting is a big threat too
Vardy was 50/50 for the France game and I think he will be able to recover because of the recordLooks like I can add Sanchez to that list......
Doesn't really mean much, though.
Best 4.3 mid?
Sure man
Some might argue What Sun
Or even Stan is Last
A few lessons learnt from spending the first 3 months of the season outside the top 1m after 8 consecutive top 100k finishes:-
1. Form first, fixtures second. The season ticker is a great tool but don't let it sway you from your gut feeling
2. Use the members stat tables, especially Doosra's, activity in and around the box is a much better indicator than goals scored (Martial!)
3. Before bringing a player in, consider whether you'll still want them if they blank in the next match. If the answers yes, look elsewhere
4. Cheap 5th mid. Benching headaches are more trouble than they're worth
5. .....same goes for rotating keepers
Just my opinion, do people agree? Any other pearls of wisdom?
Ps. 6. Don't spend so look writing a comment that a new article is submitted before you post it and nobody gets to read it!!I like number 4. 😀
Never bothered with tables
The stats tables strongly advised against getting Aguero just before his 25 point haul
Exception to the rule. You don't need a stat table to tell you that Aguero can explode at any time, especially Newcastle at home!
I know - but those with a boner for stats tables didn't get him
I dunno, my table told me he was pretty good
http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/10774/
😉Yeah, but people were looking at his stats just for the couple of GWs prior and writing him off
and they reaped what they sowed 😉
Checks tables
Checks pants
Checks fpl team
Crys
And they don't reflect well on Long shot Kings.
Was Clichy on the bench for ManCity's last PL game ?
Also does anyone know who has the better baseline BPS score out of Bertrand and Vvd ?The flukest premier league player? Harry Kane
Diaby
Bolasie
Papiss Cisse
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=msTFZ1zrzaoFlukey Lukey.
Who we all captaining?
Kane
Vardy if fit
Vardy or lukaku most probably .
Hazza
Kane
Welcome to my team, Manuel. 🙂
E-Manuel Adebayor?
Lanzini?
Correct. 🙂
could prove fantastic value where does he play doos?
He will play here:
... ... ... ... ... Adrián
Jenkinson, Tomkins, Reid, Cresswell
... ... … … Song, Noble
... Kouyaté, Lanzini, Moses
... ... ... ... ... Sakho
Subs: Randolph, Ogbonna, Joey O’Brien, Antonio, Obiang, Carroll, Zaraté, Jelavic.interesting prospect for sure will be watching closely on Sunday
Is Song 100%?
Not quite, no.
If he's not fit, Zarate in, Kouyate back?
That's it! Well done.
Yay 🙂
What's the story with Antonio, is he ever gonna get in the team
I love him in fifa
Has Billic not been favouring big Carroll up top?
Any worry that his production is actually HURT by not having Payet being the maestro making everything happen?
As a fan of their side I'm curious what your take is (though I guess it should be evident from you wanting to pick up Lanzin).
Cheers. He's actually been playing better than Payet. Carroll has been in due to Sakho's injury. He will hopefully be dropped this weekend.
Jose Manuel Jurado, interesting
Almunia?
The waiter?
¿Que?
Perhaps Moses will be the one to prosper for us.
Maybe - but he has not really fitted well with the team, yet.
2 FTs, 0.1 ITB. What to do with this?
Myhill - Hennessey
Bellerin - Cedric - Janmaat - Moreno - O'Shea
Sanchez -KDB - Eriksen - Mane - Mahrez
Pelle - Lukaku - VardyGood team that. I'd consider shipping Mane or Eriksen to bench fodder to create some funds for Aguero, and save the other 🙂
Also look at getting rid of Cedric in the next few weeksThanks. 🙂 I'll get rid of Mane, Pelle and Eriksen for Aguero and probably Lanzini and Bolasie. Want to get Rojo, but don't know how.
Will play AOA if Vardy is fit this GW btw.Sounds good 🙂 Maybe Cedric -> Rojo in a few weeks when you raise more funds
Hey there team mate.I'm the irish member of team Greece.
Great. 🙂
As an Irish fan who watched the last 2 games very closely I can tell you that Chelsea won't get too many clean sheets with Begovic in goal.... he was very poor in both legs at everything ....
His kicking of any type of backpass was horendous and he got beaten at his near post in both legs.... really seemed low in confidence in goal.......
So anybody considering a Chelsea player to cover them beautiful fixtures may want to wait until we see Courtoise again.Already have azpi .may have to get rid.
Great to be going to France .I think most fans of epl would have seen plenty of Begovic over the years
Thats the point I'm making.... he's not that Begovic at the moment.... unregonisable from that Stoke player we all know
He isnt the only chelsea player off key. Courtois back in 4 games apparently.
But them fixtures ...... surely they can do something with them beautiful fixtures
Maybe in an attacking sense. They are improving in that resppect.
How do city line up up front ,presuming all fit now or nearly now
Yaya drops back
Sterling , silva , KDB
Aguero
Or sterling benched
Silva, yaya, KDB
Aguero
Or just a rotation of all of themfirst one.. will be lots of rotation too
Yaya dropping back would be more likely imo.
Congrats Irish
Can you imagine a Wales , England and the Irish nations in the same group 🙂Cheers leaf.yeah that would be some craic.
And Norn Iron too 😀
Woops sorry I missed the 's' on nations 😳
I would have a fetty wap
🙂
Can't happen unfortunately - Ireland, Wales and N Ireland are all going to be in pot 4 whoever else qualifies tomorrow.
Oh that's a shame, would of been great .
I thought Wales were rated some stupid high ranking by FIFA these daysAnd also probably the only chance of any of us getting through to the knockout stages
A) Ireland are gonna win the Euros
B) Don't be silly, England will make it through to round 2 at least
Pots aren't decided by WR for Euros - are based on some convoluted UEFA system from the last few qualifying/finals campaigns
Are Wales not really high?
Belgium Spain cancelled..
rest for KDB and Lukaku 🙂
The friendly between Belgium and Spain has been cancelled because of the threat of terror.
Unfortunate ,we really shouldn't be cancelling anything
+1
Welcome Mata

That wasnt clever now was it? Tell him you're bringing in Amavi
How's this team looking lads?
Butland (Myhill)
Rojo Kolarov Williams (Alderweireld Cathcart)
Sanchez Ozil Mahrez Barkley KDB
Lukaku (C) Vardy (Pelle)
0.1 ITB, no transfers left this week.Obviously a bit annoying that I have to bench a potential point scoring player. Am i benching the right player? Decent captain pick? Ways t bring in AGuero soon?
