Injuries are the last thing the community needs over the busy festive period, with Alexis Sanchez joining a growing list of players already scratched off their Christmas card lists. Our community writers and hot topic posters manoeuvre their way around the crocked and injured as they plan ahead for the impending fixture pile up, as well as deal with more pressing issues,  such as who to draft in to replace the injury hit Arsenal midfielder. Our members tables offer up some key names to consider and we also look back on a week of good news, from birthdays to romance and cash windfalls to community league success.

The Community Articles

Can Jamie Vardy’s incredible goal scoring run continue? YMA certainly thinks so in his latest look ahead to the weekend’s fixtures based on what the bookies say.

Leicester players are also covered in glory in The Sarjeant’s latest, colour-coded Gameweek preview, which also earned him a £20 Amazon voucher after the series was named the best community article in November in our monthly vote.

Foxes’ supporters are also amongst those in optimistic mood ahead of this weekend’s matches in Bolivian Seamen’s latest look at what the fans are saying.

In Bowstring the Carp’s review of November, Sunderland emerged as a surprising source of Fantasy points, while he predicts Liverpool’s assets are amongst those set to bring some Christmas cheer to Fantasy managers.

Sky Guru has also been getting some early Christmas planning in with this handy guide to captaincy strategy in the Sky game.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

Alexis Sanchez’s injury has opened up a wealth of options in midfield. Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino are amongst key contenders to replace him, according to our discussion on the Merseysiders’ good attacking form and kind fixture run. While Aaron Ramsey is another vying for attention, according to Andy85wsm’s look at how Arsenal, which have also been hit by an injury to Santi Cazorla, may line up this weekend.

To further complicate matters Daniel Sturridge also made a case for investment in attack following his brace in Liverpool’s midweek Capital One Cup rout of Southampton, which Zasa detailed after the final whistle.

Among the more risky replacements for Sanchez is Eden Hazard, who has mustered just one goal this season. The Red Devil is amongst those in the community to consider him a risk too far. However, Mark II’s latest look at Bournemouth’s lacklustre defence may give the Belgian international’s suitors cause for optimism.

Looking ahead to the busy festive fixture schedule Greenwindmill took a look at Christmases past to see how rotation affects each team.

Kings of Lyon has been planning even further ahead with the Capital One Cup ties this week narrowing down the options of teams set for a blank fixture in February, when the final takes place, and therefore a double Gameweek for the second half of the season. Jarvish was also on hand with a further update on key dates to remember next year when it comes to double Gameweek planning.

A key tactic as the season progresses is to keep a close eye on ownership and ensure that the high performing, popular Fantasy players are covered in your squads.Rodellegabomb’s look at ownership strategy shows how failing to captain the most popular players can be costly.

This week saw a cavalcade of congratulations as Mark celebrated his birthday and so too did Wakey’s son, who turned 18. When you read Wakey’s post on his son’s early medical history you’ll see just why this was such a special birthday for him.

MarkFLR also has reason to be cheerful. He has followed Wild Rover’s lead to become our community’s second monthly winner in Ultimate Fantasy Premier League this season. He pockets £1,000 as the monthly strategy in UFPL picks up pace.

Our resident romance experts can also give themselves a pat on the back. Their advice to YMA in response to his plea for advice on a first date attracted more than 100 responses back in September. This week YMA informed us that, thanks in some small part to the community’s wise words, he is still with the same lucky lady, and what’s more is moving in with her in the New Year.

With such a diverse range of issues discussed each week there is arguably no other community like Fantasy Football Scout’s. Jarvish’s popular post revealed how much of an impact the community has on our lives when our regular phrases start to creep into the wider world outside of Fantasy Football.

The Members Tables

Wakey’s latest table shows which players impressed most in Gameweek 14 in terms of goal threat, to give further inspiration for the coming Gameweek’s potential transfers.

Meanwhile, the teams with the worst defences going into Gameweek 15 are the focus of Arvin-ation’s latest table and my goal involvement table shows the players that could capitalise on these porous backlines.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Tournaments

Tension is beginning to mount in the FFS UEFA Champions League, according to Jaffalicious’s latest update.

In TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition, Recoba hit the top score in Gameweek 14 with 102. There are now 1300 teams qualified after 116 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 47.

Elsewhere, our live Hall of Fame update offers Members the chance to see who the best Fantasy managers of all time are after Gameweek 14’s matches.

It is all change at the top of Red Lightning’s Top 10K Any Season league, where Euan Thompson is the new leader. Currently none of this elite bunch are in the top 1,000, but nine are in the top 10,000.

It’s business as usual though in the FFScout moderators and contributors league where Andy continues to dominate, now with a commanding 67-point lead over second placed Greenwindmill.

If you are running a community tournament and would like the latest scores included in future Community Round Ups please email me a brief summary of the current leaders and a link to your league, spread sheet or head to head competition, at jonty@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk.

It looks sensible for me to not play 2 Leicester, have 1 on the bench, and play KDB.

    But.. Mahrez or Vardy ?

Vardy never blank, but Mahrez got >= 9 points in 4 / 6 away games so far.

Or keep KDB on the bench ?

KDB .. just 1 goal from from 4 away games.

        Benching him now too.

But his stats on away games are far better than KDB.

KDB will play Stoke who are quite tight in defence too.

Now you got me rethinking my decision. Didn't realize Mahrez's good form on the road.

9 out of the last 10 league meetings between Watford and Norwich City at Vicarage Road have seen both teams score.

Norwich City have scored in 22 successive league meetings with Watford.

Also remember WAT may be playing their backup GK

I'm going to say option (A) is more likely. 🙂

A theory regarding the bench boost chip

In my opinion, should use that chip just before your WC, or just after
If before, then over a couple of weeks, you can strengthen your bench, have 15 quality players, play the bench boost, use WC to restructure the team
    Or
When on a WC, select quality 15 players, use the bench boost soon after, then steadily, in a couple of weeks, move back to bench fodder!

How about Silva for a replacement for Sanchez? Will he play?

Every choice comes with risks. 🙂

In turn, you are getting one of the best player in the league and a proven FPL assett at a very low own%. He also happens to play for the league leaders.

One of the best values in the game right now, in my opinion, regardless of the fixtures.

            Thanks mate.

My next dilemma is then to swap out Mharez and bring in Barkley for a -4?

That may be a step too far, I feel but it may end up working out.

              Go with your gut.

I'm not entirely convinced by Barkley just yet, but don't let me put you off it

Same, I feel that yes had 2 amazing weeks but gut says he won't repeat - but oh those fixtures!

Never doubt Mharez so I will stick for now. Cheers for your advice.

A more likely to keep a clean sheet but can go either way.

When in doubt on who to captain go with the top FFS captain poll. I have gone with Kane though.

    QUICK POLL:

    1. Silva/Hazard and Cabaye (use FT, no point hit)

    2. Silva/Hazard and Mane/Firmino (4 point hit)

    3. Silva AND Hazard (8 point hit)
