Following the weekend result at the theatre of nightmares, I finally find the enthusiasm to pick myself off the floor, dust down and into the studio. As I would expect, Mark isn’t too keen to let things pass unmentioned.

I quickly switch the discussion to my 70-point weekend. I’m a happy man with a Van, with smatterings of Suarez frustration and Dzeko regret thrown in.

Two things I regret from this episode. I kind of hope nobody hears me mention coveting Nicklas Bendtner. It’s like I’ve just come out. Anyway, I’ve joined the support group.

Secondly, I tempted fate spectacularly by mentioning that Luis Suarez had failed to score more than once in a match for Liverpool. Hours later, he kicked me in the unmentionables for the second time in a week. The swine.

Oh and another thing, I went into to the recording with one mission – to mention the early kick-off at Goodison on Saturday, giving us the luxury of seeing the team-sheets before the deadline. I forgot. If only it was as easy to forget Sunday lunchtime.

That is my combo, the twerps in the streets will tell you they don´t rotate well but with the PK´s they´ve saved you can´t put price or fixture picture on that.

Obviously a joke. Why not just ask: who are the best 5 defenders? How about the best 5 midfielders? Oh and by the way could you help me with my strikers? Only two mind you, because Tevez is locked into my team. 😉

In fairness you can hardly blame him for any of their goals bar perhaps silva's. Worst day ever but i didn't leave the ground blaming our goalkeeper. The blame lied squarely at the feet of jonny evans and then at 3-1, evra and rio for neglecting their defensive duties at 3-1 to chase a game that was already lost. Gutting and it hurts. However... 2 things are certain now...One is de gea will become one of the best keepers in the league and the second is we'll be back in may to tie red ribbon round number 20.

You winning the league a certainty, come on. The fourth goal De Gea scramble for it needlessly and missed it and was unable to recover it time. Two of the goals went through his legs Silva's and Aguero's shouldn't happen and I would say it is his feet that are the main problem, he often gets in a bit of a tangle and almost trips over himself. Also he rarely makes saves with his legs and having played in goal a bit myself this was virtually all I could do and it was bloody useful. The last goal he should have saved in my opinion, he got a hand to it but wasn't strong enough and it went in.

He may become a good keeper in the future but at the moment you are better off playing Lindegaard.

Ha ha sorry, i was replying to 'onelife', the blue setting aside this special time to humiliate himself in public....Well, i have never been a keeper, (christ i always thought the lads wanting to go in 'net' at school were raving lunatics anyway), that said, i think its harsh you blaming de gea for 4 of their goals. I can only blame him for the one if i was being overly critical but by the time silva bagged number 5 everyone's heads had gone. I can't agree he's at fault for this and i stand by what i said earlier pal. Rio n evra should have been more disciplined at 3-1 and protected him. As for the league title...(taps nose) get on it, it was ours before, now it most definitely is after that result!

Well it could be differential of differentials. Stoke have a lovely home run but I don't want to buy in a player vs Newcastle. unless they're deflated after the weekend. Is a 4pnt hit to get Moses in crazy?

Just wonder if this influx of VDV transfers is going to go pear-shaped.

However.....trying to get VDV in without dismantling my front-line of RVP/Rooney & Suarez.

Nasri playing the other night is niggling me, so might do a 4 pointer:

    Nasri > VDV
    SWP > Milner
Bos > £4.5m (probably Wilkinson; also have Woodgate but will be WCing next week and could play Simpson instead)

    Thoughts?

He did come off early to be fair. Nasri and Milner competing for one spot and the latter seems more in favour at present. However, if Silva was to be rested then both could play.

If I leave Nasri in I don't get VDV; or I'd have to shift RVP > Ade to give me some Spurs coverage. If VDV replicates last week's form I'm going to drop in the rankings big time though....Another treacherous week in the gambling stakes me thinks...

GW14 is Champions League, so they can't play on Tuesday or Wednesday because of TV agreements. And they won't want to play on the Thursday because it's too near their next match at the weekend

Total fpl are normally better on protection in my experience, guessing the protection may have caused a few days of -ve NTI to be cancelled out so he's actually closer to a rise than CTC calculates.

I must have lost my other comment, here goes again:
I'm kneejerking about who to play and who to bench, currently I have

    Vorm (Krul)
ShawX - Kompany - Enrique (Raylor, Simpson)
Nani - Silva - JWalter - Cleverley (Ramsey)
    Aguero - Sturridge - RVP

I'm considering Walter out for Ramsey, and R Taylor in for Enrique.
    Any thoughts?

lol, unfortunately they are both already on my team. By "out" I meant out on the bench. If the Stoke VS Newcastle game ends 0-0, it would be pointless to have Walters on the pitch, while the chelsea-arsenal game might be high scoring, where Ramsey is involved!

    Carroll > Rooney

    or

    Bannan > Ramsey

Transfers for the season. I have no united cover but have silva. Rooney better fixtures, risk of getting sent off or rested against everton away. Aguero rotation risk. Has to be done tonight to be able to afford Ramsey next week.

How important is team value going to be as the season progresses?

Having been thrown by the early shennanigans, I played WC in wk4 after the freak scores . Although floundering on 417 pts, scored over 50 pts for the first time last week, and now have TV £103.9m, with £2.1m cash.....

    Krul Vorm
    Bos Jones Enriq Shawx Raylor
    Silva VDV Pilk Petrov Dyer
    VP Roo Sturr

Planning Walters/Drenthe in for Petrov/Dyer over next few weeks, and Jag or Brown for Enrique in two weeks time.

So is £106m, (or £106.3m after tonight) going to offer any advantage for the rest of the season, or does it make little difference?

i would say it depends on "real" value - i.e what would you be left with of you sold all your players now? And also, how much of that value is tied up in players you have no intention of selling?

i think if you have a decent amount in the bank by xmas it will probably serve you well in the new year - DGWs and an extra wildcard mean the additional cash can prove to be very useful.

My teams pretty poor this week. Anyone recommend any changes?
    Vorm(BOL)

    P.Jones(eve) Simpson (sto) Enrique(wba)
    Silva(WOL) Nani(eve) Mata(ARS)
RVP (che) Adebayor (QPR) Agbon (sun)

    Krul (sto)
    Bosingwa(Ars)
    SWP (sun)
    Dyer(BOL)
    N.Taylor(BOL)

0.2 in bank, 1 free transfer

    I'm thinking maybe:
    Simpson -> Wilkinson
    or
    SWP->Walters

but is it with a 4 point hit? for e.g.

I reckon someone at Manchester City is going to get a mega haul this weekend. Personally, my money's on Aguero (he'll get his rest when City play the absolutely dire Villarreal in midweek) but any one of the other three has got it in them.

Whatever you do, DO NOT captain VDV; I really, really implore you not to do so. There will be no life changing experience in a goal or an assist and one or two bonus points from this chap.

Remember, a chance taken is a chance halved. Choose your City man and go FTW!

May the Fantasy Force be with you.

why will city rest aguero for the CL game, they are away to dire villareal, on 4 points from 3 games, were lucky to beat them at home. no way he'll be rested in the CL game, more chance of him being rested this weekend.

Make no mistake, City's priority this season is the Premiership. We've all got to learn to walk before we can run and the CL can wait till next year. And, as I said Villarreal, are dire (no wins in their last seven). City's Carling Cup team can brush them aside.

no, disagree, their priority is to win as much as possible. They have a very comfortable game at home to Wolves who they just pumped. Put yourself in Mancinis position, it really is simple.

hmmm we know, if fit, vdv will play.... we can not say the same for our city darlings... if man city were sitting pretty in the champions league it would be a different story... mancini rested most of his stars for the "awful" villareal when they played them at home. VDV FTW

agree 100%. He wont be taking any risks, they then travel to Naples and a home game with Bayern so no guarantee of anything from those 2 so he should play his strongest team at Villareal and his "B" team to beat Wolves again.

Yeah, I think far too much focus on this week's fixtures.

Which do you prefer out of these 2? I have 2 free transfers.

        a) Bosingwa & Suarez -> Wilkinson & Aguero
        b) Bosingwa -> M Richards

        Given, Ruddy
        Bosingwa, Dunne, Simpson, Woodgate, Brown
        Silva, Nani, Ramsey, Sinclair, Moses
        RVP, Suarez, Adebayor

I agree with you about Wilkinson over Taylor. However, Wigan has been terrible. Only six goals so far this season, thats lowest in the league. Moses hasn't done anything either, not a single goal or assist.

No, I dont think so. Could pay off big time.

I've already taken a 4 point hit for VDV, and I'm tempted to take another for for Balotelli, but I think I'll hold off on that one for now

well, as it looks like you need to do the other two trades to be able to afford VDV, maybe. but chelsea have conceded in every game at the bridge so far this season, and none of those teams were the attacking juggernauts that arsenal/rvp have become in recent weeks.

could be a good trade, but i have a feeling that RVP/moses could give vdv/balo a run for the money this weekend.

id get rid of de laet as his price is going to drop soon whereas swp's is not, also even as a norwich fan myself, id say shawX is just as slightly to keep a clean sheet as pilks is to do well 4 us. moreover shawcross has 3 home games in his next 4 and slightly better fixtures

RVP NTO around 1500 on totalfpl. despite his scoring record this is for what? a match against an unusually leaky chelsea defence?

    or because he's expensive?

Nightmare decision to make. Front 8:

      Dyer-Petrov-Sinclair-Silva-Dempsey

      RVP-Rooney-Suarez

Want VDV and/or Aguero. Think both will smash it. Could do RVP --> Aguero or RVP --> Sturridge and Petrov --> VDV. Thoughts? Better ideas?

No extra money to spend. Bos my only 6+ defender.

I wouldn't touch that front line. I'd probably go Dempsey & Bos -> VDV & Wilkinson. If for free then I think it's a great move. If for a 4 point hit, it's marginal.

I really wouldnt sell RVP, if anything he's a season keeper for me, he's a season performer all over, uncertainty lies over Aguero and minutes he could even play. However if you'd need to do it to free cash for VDV i'd do it, VDV is a must also/ If you cant afford VDV without sacrificing RVP then maybe Walters? I'd ship out Bos, think his 'attacking' days are over and got off to a lucky start to be honest, i shipped him out weeks ago, what a lucky move that was, my overall rank isn't great, but it's upwards from here on out so take my advice at your own peril matey lol 🙂

For me you have to have VDV so b or d. I don't like taking hits, especially when you have free transfers but d will get you a lot of points in the long run. just seen you've got ade though. up to you if you think ade is enough cover. he may outscore vdv in one week but over the season vdv could get double what ade gets. pens free kicks and bonus will all go to vdv
