Next up, it’s time for our Sky Sports Focus article this Thursday afternoon. As always, we take a look back at the previous action before preparing you for the incoming Gameweek by bringing you the recent run of Man of the Match (MoTM) awards, bonus point beneficiaries, the transfer trends and our Watchlist before casting an eye over the Scout team and our future plans.

Gameweek 31 Man of the Match Awards

Listed below are the players that caught the eye of the Sky Sports reporters from last weekend’s fixtures achieving the Man of the Match award (worth an additional five points).

FixtureMoTM
Tottenham vs ArsenalDavid Ospina
Chelsea vs StokeGiannelli Imbula
Everton vs West HamDimitri Payet
Man City vs Aston VillaSergio Aguero
Newcastle vs BournemouthJoshua King
Southampton vs SunderlandJan Kirchhoff
Swansea vs NorwichGylfi Sigurdsson
Watford vs LeicesterRiyad Mahrez
Crystal Palace vs LiverpoolDejan Lovren
West Brom vs Man UnitedSalomon Rondon

One goalkeeper, two defenders, five midfielders and a couple of forwards grabbed the awards last week. Popular options in Dimitri Payet (15.4%), Sergio Aguero (31.8%) and Riyad Mahrez (40.6%) all earned the gong to considerably boost the average score. Former Fantasy great Gylfi Sigurdsson presents as an enticing option right now. The Swansea number ten has picked up 47 points in his last seven matches at an average of 6.7 points per game and with clashes against Bournemouth and Villa up next, his ownership looks likely to rise.

Gameweek 31 Bonus Points

Five goalkeepers picked up bonus last week. Arsenal’s stand-in stopper David Ospina was the star performer with nine saves and a MoTM helping him to negate the two goals conceded. Petr Cech is now joined by Jack Butland at the top of the pile with 16 bonus points.

In defence, ten players grabbed bonus, six for tackles and four for passes completed. Dejan Lovren was the closest to picking up both, just falling short by 13 completed passes. Stoke full-back Erik Pieters currently leads the way for defenders with 22 bonus points.

In midfield, there were 16 beneficiaries in total: nine for tackling and eight for passes. Manuel Lanzini was the player to pick up both with an all-action display – 81 completed passes and four tackles afforded him an extra four points. Cesc Fabregas is dominating the bonus tables with 52 points overall from passing and tackling, that’s the equivalent of ten goals!

Fantasy Football Scout members can access all information regarding bonus points using player stats and clicking the Sky Sports tab.

The Transfer Trends

All five players here are without a fixture this time around. Arsenal duo Petr Cech and Laurent Koscielny are both currently sidelined through injury, whilst Southampton skipper Jose Fonte serves a one-match suspension at Stoke. Olivier Giroud and Odion Ighalo, meanwhile, have paid the price for their recent lack of output as Sky managers restructure their frontlines.

Joe Hart and David de Gea have garnered plenty of new owners as a result of the Cech exodus, though the latter is without a fixture this weekend due to United’s cup clash with West Ham. At a price of just 6.2, Dimitri Payet’s value for money is impossible to ignore, whilst Liverpool’s trip to Palace last Sunday looks the likely cause of the Firmino trades. Aguero’s home clash with Villa last week, prior to Saturday’s trip to Norwich, made him an obvious target up top.

Here I aim to highlight a few differential players with low ownership that I think could be good options in the coming weeks to help you climb the rankings. These will be looked at in three specific price brackets to cater for our available budget. These names evolve with fixtures and form and offer Fantasy managers a nudge in hopefully the right direction.

Notes
I earned another slight rise in the previous Gameweek as we move into the business end of the season. It was a great Saturday for me due to Sergio Aguero as skipper (28 points), Dimitri Payet (15) and Riyad Mahrez (12), whilst Harry Kane and my new goalkeeper, Joe Hart, also picked up seven points each.

My defence is the biggest let down at present with the three of them combined earning me a net one point! Craig Cathcart is injured but hopefully should be back soon and is so cheap he won’t be going anywhere. Craig Dawson is also an injury doubt after hobbling off last week and denying me a clean sheet but still looks a decent option moving forward, given his goal threat. Eric Dier has been disappointing of late and is just one card short of a ban so he may be the one to go in the future – this is dependent on me having the transfers to spare, though, as captain swaps towards the end of the season are usually the smarter choice for transfers. Having said that, Liverpool and Everton assets are on my radar also for Gameweek 34 onwards, where extra fixtures and decent run-ins make them all the more desirable.

Captain Plan
This week looks a great week for captains, assuming you have Man City, Spurs and Leicester assets. With each team playing on a separate matchday and Leicester featuring on matchday one next Gameweek, it could be a good option to utilise three captains via a transfer to enable you to skipper Sergio Aguero (nor), followed by Harry Kane (avl) and then Jamie Vardy/Riyad Mahrez (NEW), for example. This is, of course, dependant on you not owning these players already and having the spare transfers. I will be choosing one of Kane or Aguero before Thursday night’s deadline and then ending with the armband on Jamie Vardy.

The Fantasy Football Scout League

Once again, we’re running our own Fantasy Football Scout League this season and are sitting in first place in the rankings at present. With a £1000 prize to the winner, you’d be mad not to get involved. To join, visit Sky Sports Fantasy Football and key in League Name: FFScout, League Code: 8009000.

The Fantasy Football Club

This Friday The Fantasy Football Club show, where you can catch new host Max Rushden and Paul Merson at 18:30 SkySports 1 HD where they will be discussing the upcoming week’s Fantasy Football, chatting to former Arsenal and Everton front man Kevin Campbell and asking Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey for his #One2Eleven.

I currently have 11 players for this week. But I have a feeling Silva could be in for big points in the coming weeks (nor, MUN, bou) and also Alli could be rested this weekend so what to do?

A: Payet/Ozil ---> Silva (would it be worth losing the value on these players who I might want back?)
    B: Van Dijk ---> Williams
C: Play Van Dijk. Save FT. (go with bare 11 and hope they all start)

Not a good idea. A lot of value in Payet and I think West Ham will beat Chelsea anyway

Why the feeling Alli will be rested? Am interested Don.

No harm ditching Ozil if you still have a WC, then you can bench VVD if you want.

If we don't get DGW info before the deadline, which of Henessey, Bellerin, Ozil or Payet should i use one of my 2 FT's on? And from which team iyo?

Same with the rest of my bench. That's why i don't know who to sell. Don't want the FT to get wasted.

Okay. But he's dirt cheap, and most likely to retain the starting spot when comes back and swapping GK's on bench is not a way to make points. Only player I would transfer him to would be McCarthy and that if and only if he still starts when Hennessey is fit again. Rather transfer out a field player for somebody you'd think will score massively this GW and then maybe transfer back after a couple of GW's. Bellerin?

Sadly i don't HVT. Mert back this week and Kosc will play when fit. Otherwise that would be a great money saver. Got plenty of value tied up in all bar Hennessey too if that's a factor

I guess so. I only really have .5 itb. The other option could be to use it on one of my starters and free some more funds. E.g. Toby to Rose, or Daniels to Francis.

Not sure about KDB as i got 3 city including Silva. Could do Silva to Toure as another money saver

              Just looked at those keepers!
Elliott/Henna needs improving imo but you need cash I think as you're short, you may need to downgrade a def,
Toby > Wolly and Henna >Ddg or someone, but the save could be just as beneficial.

    9. Worzel Gummidge

I had 1 FT and still did Ozil to Siggy (Had the exact same 4 as you and went Ozil as he is dropping). I am looking for points and not overanalysing DGW. No point until we know what's happening.

Yes, I didn't want to play Rangel as already playing Flappyhandski. I can also see Siggy doing well. It was between him or Erik but already have Alli so went Siggy.

Very dissapointed in Tottenham not playing Kane. Whats the point in striving to get into Europe if cant play your best team in an attractive tie against Dortmund?

They have a great chance to get to the CL for next season, hence they strive to get there instead of wasting too much energy on the second tier football. Albeit that Dortmund is a prestigious opponent. Maybe's it's a one that is just a tad too good for them.

If they are too good for them then they may as well not bother trying to get into champions league. Very poor from Tottenham and not good for the confidence

Well, you might want to go into the CL even just to lose all matches, and still find it not worth it to play your best team to take beating in a cup that is of little worth.

I imagine the 50m for qualifying for the champions league has something to do with it, rather than the quality of opposition in there.

True. But I tend to agree that morally these European club competition matches _should_ be treated as matches of prestige and the teams _should_ always line up their best team. Always. But I completely understand why they don't do it. And of course, a large part of it is that EL is such a losers' cup. Bring back the CL for the champions only, and you'll get an EL with some real prestige.

Exactly this. It's more valuable to even keep that title fight alive, and to assure the place in CL for next season, than to try to have successful EL campaign. If they were where Liverpool is in the league, then they would absolutely prioritize EL, but the objectives have changed due their success.

I agree, however, we don't know how tired the Spurs squad might be. They have certainly looked on the wane in the last week or so and perhaps another game today would have been the proverbial straw.

Still, as a Spurs fan, I must say I am disappointed and somewhat shocked.

Going for a GW36 WC, so what do people make of this lot?

            2FT, 4.5 ITB

            Butland (Hennessey)
            Dier Daniels Simpson (VVD Bellerin)
            Siggy Mahrez Arnie Alli (Ozil)
            Aguero Kane Vardy

Thinking of VVD->Kompany or Arnie->Yaya/Silva but really not sold on either. Any other suggestions?

City players are the way to go for GW36 WC'ers like us (good fixtures and games in GW30 and GW35 black weeks and possible DGW34).

I'd just do Arnie and Yaya this GW, then reassess when DGW have been announced

Joe Crilly, from William Hill, said: "Leicester are the neutrals' pick to win the Premier League this season, yet for the bookies, it is anyone but.

"At the start of the season, 25 people backed them with William Hill at 5000-1 and those bets, totalling just £68.55, cost over £300,000. A Premier League title would cost us alone £2.5m."

Why not Alli in and Kane ©? Don't like putting all your eggs in one basket?

If I were you, I'd go for the former from those choices but would still prefer bringing Alli in, even for Kane ©. Alli is a better pick than Yaya imo.

Maybe youre right Jazz! I'm just thinking what's best but cant see Eriksen Alli Kane being too bad a trident vs the worst team in the league! Might be a good idea to go all in.

I know what you mean, he could obviously come in! But surely him not playing and full 90 as anticipated is great. And if they're cruising it's likely to have been from Kane haha

Thanks Timbo! Most of my thinking is based on my ML rival almost definitely captaining Kun. But I hate the early capt.

Exactly this, Bowstring. I was between him and Kun, knowing my ML leader has Kun. I'm chasing a 30 pt lead. Idk, I think I've gotta gamble more and more now!

I need to make up a 37-point gap and ML leader hasn't got Kane (Lukaku instead but he could transfer him in). I'm 7th and most will go Kun (c) imo

Norwich can be dodgey at home, always seem to be a team that can spoil Kun (c)

Villa are Villa so Kane is a no-brainer for me after tonight's news

Similar gap for me mate. It's the only reason I'm thinking Kane ©.

As I was saying to Jazz above, am basically thinking I either do
Yaya in and Kane© or Alli in and Kun©

ML leader will probably captain Kun. So I'm thinking the former now!

Considering the shoe string budget available to him, his signing were okay. Keane wasn't his signing. Aquilani was. He made some good signings in Reina, Torres, Alonso and Masch.

In fact, we may be overstating the Spurs rotation issue again. When you look at their opponent, Dortmund is heavily rotating too. They're resting 5 of their most played 11, including the no. 1 GK.

Other than Ononah the rest of the Tottenham side has played BPL and it looks a solid side, sure Kane isn't there but I still think it's a Spurs side that can get a result. Not sure how much more seriously you want them to take it.

Used to have it. Switched to a OnePlus One, then to an iPhone 6+, now to a Nexus 6P. I am a bit of a technophobe 😀

City have that Kiev game next week so Kun might get subbed early against Norwich. Despite comfortable lead against Kiev I think Pelle want his key players to be fresh for ucl.

It's been a while since Kun was subbed early. It didn't happen before the first leg, I can't see why it would happen now they have a commanding lead.

Trying to not screw up things for the remaining game weeks.
I'm in pretty good shape for this weeks blank, but need to use my 2 FT in order to get 11 players that actually play!
The question is who to transfer in and who to transfer in!

                    My team:
                    Schmeichel Butland
Alderweireld van Dijk van Aanholt Bellerin
                    Ayew Özil Willian Mahrez Alli
                    Kun Vardy Kane

I'm thinking Özil-> Sigurdson and Bellerin -> Kompany, but not sure if that is smart for the period until I wildcard (36 I think..)

                    Thoughts?
