Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling return in time for Cityโ€™s trip to Newcastle tomorrow. Seamus Coleman adds to Evertonโ€™s worries ahead of the Merseyside derby, Divock Origi is a minor concern for Liverpool and Norwichโ€™s problems in defence build after their chastening home loss to Sunderland.

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann suffered a minor foot injury against Arsenal in yesterdayโ€™s 1-1 draw at the Emirates, though Alan Pardew played down concerns over the centre-halfโ€™s problem ahead of Wednesdayโ€™s trip to United:

โ€œScott is so important to us. He has been all year. When he took the knock I was a little concerned. Heโ€™s a warrior. It will take something really problematic for him not to play, because heโ€™ll play through the pain.โ€

Everton
Roberto Martinez confirmed that Seamus Coleman is unlikely to feature in Evertonโ€™s next two fixtures after being forced off at the weekend:

“Obviously Seamus felt his hamstring. We’re going to assess him in the morning but it will be hard to see him being involved this week. That sort of injury will take a bit longer than a week.โ€

The Spanish boss also said that Leighton Baines and Aaron Lennon would be assessed at the start of this week, while Tom Cleverley and Phil Jagielka are likely to sit out the Merseyside derby:

โ€œTom Cleverley and Phil Jagielka we need to see at the end of the week, but Leighton Baines and Aaron Lennon I’m sure we’re going to have a clear idea on them on Monday or Tuesday.โ€

Everton extended their winless streak to six matches following their draw against Saints. Moreover, the Toffees netted just two goals in their previous five outings, undermining their Fantasy value during successive double Gameweeks. In appreciation of their poor form and blank in Gameweek 35, managers might feel inclined to cash in on some of their Everton assets, despite the fact they enjoy a double in Gameweek 37 (lei & sun).

Liverpool
Emre Can – who was suspended for yesterdayโ€™s win at Bournemouth โ€“ has been ruled out for four to six weeks after rupturing ankle ligaments against Borussia Dortmund.

Jurgen Klopp reckons that Roberto Firmino is now back to full match sharpness after his return from injury:

โ€œRoberto Firmino had a problem after he was in perfect shape. He had to fight back from his injury. He is a really good ball keeper for us, to save the ball for us.โ€

Elsewhere in the Reds camp, Divock Origi is said to have picked up a minor back issue, while Kolo Toure was forced off at Dean Court with a muscle complaint:

โ€œ[Origi] got a knock on his back, I think. I asked him after the game and he said it was a little knock in the back and hopefully it’s not serious. [Toure’s injury is] a little bit more [serious], it’s the muscle. I’m not sure if it’s cramp or more but in the last few months Kolo had absolutely no issue with his muscles so hopefully it’s not a big thing.โ€

Liverpoolโ€™s team sheet on Sunday illuminated the impact of Europa League progress on their Fantasy prospects, given that Firmino and Daniel Sturridge were the only notable starters following their midweek triumph over Dortmund. The Redsโ€™ next European ties take place before Gameweek 36 (swa) and the first match of their double Gameweek 37 (WAT & CHE), forcing us to reassess the viability of their prime recruits on the grounds of expected rotation.

Manchester City
Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling have both been passed fit for tomorrowโ€™s trip to Newcastle. Earlier this afternoon, Manuel Pellegrini also confirmed that Samir Nasri, Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and David Silva remain on the sidelines.

Although City have conceded just twice in his four-match absence, Kompany is likely to immediately oust Eliaquim Mangala in the heart of the back-four at St Jamesโ€™, with Pablo Zabaleta and Aleksandar Kolarov continuing at full-back. Despite the absence of Nasri and Silva, Sterlingโ€™s return could also allow Pellegrini the option of resting Kevin de Bruyne by moving to 4-4-2 and handing Wilfried Bony a start alongside Sergio Aguero up front.

Newcastle
Rafa Benitez has confirmed that Daryl Janmaat and Fabricio Coloccini are still unavailable to face City tomorrow night, whilst fellow defender Kevin Mโ€™Babu is โ€œvery closeโ€ to returning.

After seeing his side chalk up a rare clean sheet in a 3-0 home win against Swansea, the Magpies boss is likely to name an unchanged back-four, then, with Vurnon Anita deputing for Janmaat at right-back, allowing Jamaal Lascelles and Chancel Mbemba to continue at the heart of the back-four. Bearing in mind that City have scored seven goals in their last two away matches since the return of De Bruyne, those holding Magpies defenders for the double will be hoping that Pellegrini benches the Belgian with one eye on the upcoming Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid. Sergio Aguero captainers, meanwhile, will be hoping for more of the same after his weekend hat-trick at Chelsea โ€“ the Argentine put five past the Magpies earlier this season and rolls up to St Jamesโ€™ in search of his 100th strike in the Premier League.

Norwich City
Alex Neil admitted that Timm Klose is unlikely to play again this campaign by virtue of damaged knee ligaments:

โ€œTimm is going to struggle. He has got a damaged ligament in his knee. We donโ€™t know if he can get back before the end of the season. Of course it is a blow. He has been a massive player for us. There is not much we can do about it. We just have to get on with itโ€.

Meanwhile, Russell Martin was unavailable for selection against Sunderland because of illness:

โ€œRussell was in the squad and stayed with us at the hotel overnight but he went down with a fever so we had to isolate him from the rest.โ€

Neil also suggested that Andre Wisdom is a major concern after being forced off in the dying embers at Carrow Road:

โ€œI didnโ€™t feel they were threatening but in the key moments they punished us and it summed it up at the end when we finished with 10 because Andre looked like he had hurt the ligament in his knee.โ€

Southampton
Jose Fonte (head) and Victor Wanyama (rib) were discharged from hospital and given the all-clear after being subbed off at Goodison Park with injuries.

Watford
Jose Holebas (knock), Almen Abdi (illness) and Craig Cathcart (knock) all missed Watfordโ€™s 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion but may yet stand a chance of returning in time for Wednesdayโ€™s encounter with West Ham.

    For GW35:

    A) Martial + Lukaku -> Defoe + Kane (play both)
    B) Smalling + Lukaku -> PvA + Kane (bench PvA)

    Team is:

    Mignolet (Robles)
    Simpson, Huth, Gabriel, Clyne (Smalling)
    Sanchez, Iwobi, Coutinho, Mahrez (Payet)
    Aguero (Martial, Lukaku)

After a previous post (a few days ago in the DZ), it was apparent that I was not the only one having issues being redirected to a gaming site from the FPL site on my android phone.

It seems that using the mobile site http://m.fantasy.premierleague.com/ instead of the standard site avoids that constant redirection.

Hopefully that helps someone having the same issue...

Apologies for the long post, hope it is helpful.

With so many making major changes/using their wild cards in anticipation of gws 33/34/35, I thought I would look at which players have actually done well so far at around the halfway point of this sequence of gameweeks.

Following are the total points scored for GWs 33/34 so far, by position:

    Gomes 23*
    Hennessey 21*
    Robles 17*
    Mannone 12

    Ward 20*
    Funes Mori 18*
    Alderweireld 15 Lascelles 15*
    Delaney 14* Souare 14*
    Dann 13*
    Cresswell 12* Valencia 12*
    Cook 11 Kolarov 11*
    Koscielny 10* Coleman 10* Stones 10*

    Townsend 22*
    Sanchez 16*
    Watson 15* Bolasie 15*
    Nasri 14* Puncheon 14*
    Firmino 13* Lamela 13 Sigurdsson 13 Iwobi 13*
    King 12 Mane 12
    Sissoko 11*
    Milner 10* Sessegnon 10* Drinkwater 10

    Aguero 26*
    Carroll 23*
    Sturridge 18*
    Vardy 15
    Pelle 14
    Origi 13* Borini 13
    Long 12
    Welbeck 10* A Ayew 10

The Spurs match against Stoke could obviously impact things, but if you made a Dream Team of the above players, every spot but one would be taken up by a DGW player, a bit contrary to the declarations of DGW failure that have been surfacing at times here.

    Gomes
    Ward Funes Mori Alderweireld
    Townsend Sanchez Watson Bolasie
    Aguero Carroll Sturridge

Will be interesting to see what this looks like at the end of 34 and again at 35.

I've got 4 from that list: Hennessey, Firmino, Townsend, Aguero. The most frustrating thing for me is my choice of Ozil as captain over Aguero, mainly because I had a feeling Aguero would be rested for one of the games.

      Think toward 37 DGW

      Martial to Sturridge/Defoe/Costa

I'd be worried about Sturridge's minutes. If Origi is out injured Klopp may rest Sturridge for Europa. Not convinced by Costa either and I don't see the point in selling Rashford. The only strikers I'm really considering are Kane and Pelle/Long.

    GW35 CHECK

How many players do you have for GW35 that will ...

    A. Probably play - I have 4 - Bellerin, Gabriel, Simpson, Sanchez
    B. Probably not play - I have 5 - Sakho, Coutinho, KDB, Aguero, Mitrovic
    C. Not play - I have 6 - DDG, Robles, Fosu-Mensah, Payet, Lanzini, Martial

This would have looked a lot better if City and/or Liverpool didn't qualify for the semis.

      A. 9 - Hart, Bellerin, Simpson, VVD, Ozil, Sanchez, Mahrez, Alli, Kane

      B. 1 - Aguero

      C. 5 - Hennessey, Cresswell, Smalling, Lanzini, Vardy

1 transfer for Vardy -> Ulloa and I should be looking at 10 nailed on with Aguero a bit dodgy

This is tougher to judge than it was a couple of days ago.

      A. Probably play - 8 - Bellerin, Simpson, Van Aanholt, Sanchez, Mahrez, Milner, Kane, Welbeck, Darlow, Mignolet
      B. Probably Not Play - 3 - Sakho, KDB, Aguero. (Think Sakho will play though, but putting him here because you have)

I have triple Liverpool and triple City, so somewhere between 0-6 for those two in A and B.

C is 6, will take a hit to drop that to four and hope for the best.

      A. Probably play (9) Mignolet, Bellerin, Simpson, Kirchoff, Ozil, Sanchez, Alli, Kane, Defoe
      B. Probably not play (2) Milner, Aguero (maybe get 55-60 mins)
      C. Not play - (3) Smalling, TFM, Payet

      A. Probably play (6) - Gabriel, Bellerin, Ozil, Townsend, Alli, Aguero
      B. Probably not play (3) - Mangala, Sakho, Firmino
      C. Not play (6) - De Gea, Lukaku, Payet, Ighalo, Smalling, Hennessey

I'm looking at the possibility of taking an 8 point hit.

      Lukaku > Kane
      De Gea > Lloris /
      Mangala > Simpson

i would need to see the game vs. Everton first before knowing.

i think Klopp will play his strongest team vs. Newcastle, in the name of fair play, with Newcastle fighting relegation.
It was not that way with Bouremouth, who are safe.

i think, if healthy, Sakho for one is a certainty to play the next 2 PL games. he didn't start last game, and he is clearly a first-team centerback. i would not be surprised if all 3 have a part in both games, but i am less sure on the other two.

I'm sorry but I disagree with 'i think Klopp will play his strongest team vs. Newcastle' Jersey. Why would he play his strongest team when the younger lads have come in and got the 3 points for him twice?

because, as a sportsman (which he most certainly is), he owes it to Norwich and Sunderland to do his best to win the game, just like he would do, and did, when he played against them.

of course he will prioritize his own team.

and fair play has nothing to do with the other team's fears. it's just the right thing to do. i will be shocked if he plays the kids the way he did against Bournemouth. Ward, Randall, Ibe. i don't think they'll play. that doesn't mean he won't rotate, in his own team's best interests. to me, Mignolet will play for sure. And his first team centerbacks -- i think that means Sakho and Lovren. Clyne, as well. Moreno, probably.

he has depth in the midfield, so everyone is at rotation risk there, especially players who just played the last game. and at striker also.

I think the fact that Kolo has got injured might help Lovren/Sakho playing more of a part in the Newcastle game. Mignolet will play I agree, but apart from that the full backs and the midfield are a minefield

I have watched Klopp over the years. not only is he a great coach, he is also a great man. he does the right thing, and points out the wrong things when he sees them. he will know the right thing to do against Newcastle is to try and win the game as best he can.

i am not a Liverpool fan. but they are very lucky to have him.

It's always rough to have 0 playing on MNF, but tonight especially.

If we ever needed Arnie/whoever the Butland replacement is to go big

Is Willian considered part of the veterans on the beach or the youth getting a chance? Am quite tempted to gamble on a Chelsea mid for gw35.

      Cesc/Azpi/Ivan/Miikel seems nailed.
      Lofthus for the punters

        Loftus is an interesting shout.

What is the ideal front3 for rest of the season when considering gametime, points potential and dgws?

    For me it is:

Defoe - Sunderland fighting to stay up, dgw coming and decent fixtures.
Kane - Chance of winning title, golden boot and great fixtures coming. Downside is that no dgw.
    Aguero/Carroll or Costa -

I'm very much in agreement. Penned in Defoe and Kane. Shame Borini holds the pens

i don't think Borini is the worst shout either.

i do prefer DeFoe, but Big Sam likes Borini as well, and he is on pens.
