Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling return in time for City’s trip to Newcastle tomorrow. Seamus Coleman adds to Everton’s worries ahead of the Merseyside derby, Divock Origi is a minor concern for Liverpool and Norwich’s problems in defence build after their chastening home loss to Sunderland.

Crystal Palace
Scott Dann suffered a minor foot injury against Arsenal in yesterday’s 1-1 draw at the Emirates, though Alan Pardew played down concerns over the centre-half’s problem ahead of Wednesday’s trip to United:

“Scott is so important to us. He has been all year. When he took the knock I was a little concerned. He’s a warrior. It will take something really problematic for him not to play, because he’ll play through the pain.”

Everton
Roberto Martinez confirmed that Seamus Coleman is unlikely to feature in Everton’s next two fixtures after being forced off at the weekend:

“Obviously Seamus felt his hamstring. We’re going to assess him in the morning but it will be hard to see him being involved this week. That sort of injury will take a bit longer than a week.”

The Spanish boss also said that Leighton Baines and Aaron Lennon would be assessed at the start of this week, while Tom Cleverley and Phil Jagielka are likely to sit out the Merseyside derby:

“Tom Cleverley and Phil Jagielka we need to see at the end of the week, but Leighton Baines and Aaron Lennon I’m sure we’re going to have a clear idea on them on Monday or Tuesday.”

Everton extended their winless streak to six matches following their draw against Saints. Moreover, the Toffees netted just two goals in their previous five outings, undermining their Fantasy value during successive double Gameweeks. In appreciation of their poor form and blank in Gameweek 35, managers might feel inclined to cash in on some of their Everton assets, despite the fact they enjoy a double in Gameweek 37 (lei & sun).

Liverpool
Emre Can – who was suspended for yesterday’s win at Bournemouth – has been ruled out for four to six weeks after rupturing ankle ligaments against Borussia Dortmund.

Jurgen Klopp reckons that Roberto Firmino is now back to full match sharpness after his return from injury:

“Roberto Firmino had a problem after he was in perfect shape. He had to fight back from his injury. He is a really good ball keeper for us, to save the ball for us.”

Elsewhere in the Reds camp, Divock Origi is said to have picked up a minor back issue, while Kolo Toure was forced off at Dean Court with a muscle complaint:

“[Origi] got a knock on his back, I think. I asked him after the game and he said it was a little knock in the back and hopefully it’s not serious. [Toure’s injury is] a little bit more [serious], it’s the muscle. I’m not sure if it’s cramp or more but in the last few months Kolo had absolutely no issue with his muscles so hopefully it’s not a big thing.”

Liverpool’s team sheet on Sunday illuminated the impact of Europa League progress on their Fantasy prospects, given that Firmino and Daniel Sturridge were the only notable starters following their midweek triumph over Dortmund. The Reds’ next European ties take place before Gameweek 36 (swa) and the first match of their double Gameweek 37 (WAT & CHE), forcing us to reassess the viability of their prime recruits on the grounds of expected rotation.

Manchester City
Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling have both been passed fit for tomorrow’s trip to Newcastle. Earlier this afternoon, Manuel Pellegrini also confirmed that Samir Nasri, Bacary Sagna, Gael Clichy and David Silva remain on the sidelines.

Although City have conceded just twice in his four-match absence, Kompany is likely to immediately oust Eliaquim Mangala in the heart of the back-four at St James’, with Pablo Zabaleta and Aleksandar Kolarov continuing at full-back. Despite the absence of Nasri and Silva, Sterling’s return could also allow Pellegrini the option of resting Kevin de Bruyne by moving to 4-4-2 and handing Wilfried Bony a start alongside Sergio Aguero up front.

Newcastle
Rafa Benitez has confirmed that Daryl Janmaat and Fabricio Coloccini are still unavailable to face City tomorrow night, whilst fellow defender Kevin M’Babu is “very close” to returning.

After seeing his side chalk up a rare clean sheet in a 3-0 home win against Swansea, the Magpies boss is likely to name an unchanged back-four, then, with Vurnon Anita deputing for Janmaat at right-back, allowing Jamaal Lascelles and Chancel Mbemba to continue at the heart of the back-four. Bearing in mind that City have scored seven goals in their last two away matches since the return of De Bruyne, those holding Magpies defenders for the double will be hoping that Pellegrini benches the Belgian with one eye on the upcoming Champions League semi-final with Real Madrid. Sergio Aguero captainers, meanwhile, will be hoping for more of the same after his weekend hat-trick at Chelsea – the Argentine put five past the Magpies earlier this season and rolls up to St James’ in search of his 100th strike in the Premier League.

Norwich City
Alex Neil admitted that Timm Klose is unlikely to play again this campaign by virtue of damaged knee ligaments:

“Timm is going to struggle. He has got a damaged ligament in his knee. We don’t know if he can get back before the end of the season. Of course it is a blow. He has been a massive player for us. There is not much we can do about it. We just have to get on with it”.

Meanwhile, Russell Martin was unavailable for selection against Sunderland because of illness:

“Russell was in the squad and stayed with us at the hotel overnight but he went down with a fever so we had to isolate him from the rest.”

Neil also suggested that Andre Wisdom is a major concern after being forced off in the dying embers at Carrow Road:

“I didn’t feel they were threatening but in the key moments they punished us and it summed it up at the end when we finished with 10 because Andre looked like he had hurt the ligament in his knee.”

Southampton
Jose Fonte (head) and Victor Wanyama (rib) were discharged from hospital and given the all-clear after being subbed off at Goodison Park with injuries.

Watford
Jose Holebas (knock), Almen Abdi (illness) and Craig Cathcart (knock) all missed Watford’s 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion but may yet stand a chance of returning in time for Wednesday’s encounter with West Ham.

i'd stay away from Chelsea. Costa + Azpi, if i was forced . . . really forced.

      Kane and Alli, for sure.

i like West Ham a lot, after gw35, of course. Payet, Cresswell, Lanzini.

      DeFoe, maybe.

and Arsenal, for sure. 3, probably. Sanchez, Bellerin, and another.

On bench boost this week, trailing my ML rival by 71 points. I have 15 players left to play this week, he has 9 remaining. He has used all his chips, I have triple captain to go.

Do I stand a chance or is it over?

Well sounds like he has Rashford/KDB/Firm to your Martial/Coutinho. I'd rather be in latter group for the rest of this week. I think you can do it if you get TC double right.

But then if he's on TC Sanchez that might be another 20 points to make up. Will be a lot clearer by Friday.

He has used this bench boost this week, with a bench of McCarthy Fonte Wollscheid Lennon. Only thing he's gotten right is that he has Kun (c)

      Let me give you hope.
On the week I wild carded I lost 50 points on my rival. 50!!!
So that would leave 21 from 4 weeks, easy.

I'm in pretty much the same boat as you. I trail my rival by 66. I have 14 players left this week. He has 9. He has used all his chips and I have TC left.

I think wk 35 will have a big say. He has Lei and Spurs players and I have Liverpool( will they play)

I can (in theory) get 11 out next week with my 1FT. (Lanzini to Alli or Martial to Defoe)

But how many hits would you take to cover these rotation threats?

    A) Coutinho
    B) Gabriel
    C) Sakho
    D) KDB

Gabriel should play seeing Sunderland have pace up front.
KDB's minutes will depend on other players availability.
Coutinho and Sakho look dead as fantasy options.

      In summary:

"Ooh this is going rather well, I'm going to absolutely cane it wit my GW33 wildcard GW34 bench boost.

      Oh cr4p."

For me personally, not too bad, but still along those lines.

Wanted top 50k at start of season

      Currently 17,324

Now aiming for top 10k. Tricky, but doable I think. Anything below 15k and I'll be happy, though.

Been on a good run off late.

Top 2500 with a wc and bb in hand. If i manage to stay in the top 5k by the end of the gw, i'd like to try getting into the top 1k.

        Bellerin Otamendi Sakho Moreno
        ---------KDB Ozil Sanchez-----------
        --------Aguero Kane Mitrovic--------
        ---------------------------------------------
        -----Robles Payet Lanzini Rojo-----

        0ft, 0.2itb

That's 11 men for free but huge rotation risk for City, Pool and Mitrovic. With what's looking like a struggle to field XI and a shortage of gw37 doublers, are any of these worth a hit?

        A: Rojo > PVA -4

E looks tasty, but the -8 combined with that little bit of doubt that RLC may not start is a turn off. Also if the 2 LIV defenders are such high doubts, if taking a hit, wouldn't it be wise to get another defender in, just to make sure you get 3 playing defenders.

Can play 10 in GW35 if Clichy is fit, but can't get Kane straight in.

                Darlow
                Bellerin, Gabriel, Simpson, Sakho
                Sanchez, KDB, Nasri, Coutinho
                Aguero, Sturridge

                Robles, Martial, Payet, TFM... 0.00itb

I can get 11 players out, but unsure if Nasri will play and there might be more rotation in the Liverpool camp.

Mitro has a game in 35. No need to take a -4 on that one.

Kirchoff in for an injured Coleman is ok, especially if he funds Kane, and even moreso if you plan on (c) Kane.

Would you do it for a hit ?

                Lukaku --> Kane(C)

                Vardy --> Defoe

                  Yes.
Transferring 2 players out who are not playing for 2 form strikers with a game and Defoe with an extra game in 37.

Anyone find the fun is gone from FPL lately?

Over the last 5 season's I've enjoyed the predictability of the heavy hitters, i.e. Sanchez, Aguero, Hazard, Van Persie, Mata, Bale, Suarez, Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Ivanovic, Baines, Walcott, Vermaelen, Dempsey, Rooney, Benteke, Lukaku, Berbatov, Skrtel, Vidic.

But lately form is so sketchy and patchy that it's near impossible to make any sense of the game and have any strategy whatsoever except follow the masses every week.

Take this week as one of many examples of how things have gone wrong this season. I see players that would be top 10,000 most years struggling to get anywhere near that rank this season. And here's me with my best rank of all 5 seasons yet I'm hating it big time.

It's just infuriating when one week statistics and figures are a strong indicator, then the next week they're a total red herring. One minute a team is scoring freely with a dreadful defence like Leicester, next minute they're the best defence in the league with 1-0s. Form over fixtures one minute, then form goes out the window and it's all about the fixtures again.

It just seems impossible to have any clue how to approach this season, and ultimately luck is the result for doing well (including myself in this). The chips have thrown so many of us off guard by trying to maximise the DGWs. Any other year this strategy would be 100% guarantee to hop up the ranks, but now it's gone pear-shaped with rotation amongst other things.

Has football changed that quickly? Is this season of FPL a sign of things to come, i.e. unpredictability and uncertainty? 😕

Next season I'll be taking a hit every week and seeing if I can get under 100k.

Been my least enjoyable season by miles. Has been such a slog.

I'm ranked 1,315 and it's the least fun I've had playing the game in 5 years 😕

I think next year might be different. Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton must surely play better, and Leicester will have champion's league football to deal with

                  everything changes, always.

same as every day, you have to adapt.

It's the unpredictability for me that's made this season very enjoyable.. that and the challenge.. fantastic..

Or is this year more enjoyable because of the unpredictability and change from the old routine?

The most frustrating FPL wise for me. Made a few bad decisions but has been very unpredictable and many many many unlucky choices. That said and despite Arsenal disapointing , have enjoyed the games , as always.

Time for video intervention is nigh though , God ! enough of these ametuerish mistakes

Vardy's suspension has made this a tough/annoying one..

                A) Martial > Long

                B) Martial > Defoe

                C) Martial > Ulloa

                D) Martial > ???
