Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 34 – Monday

Harry Kane and Dele Alli both score twice as Tottenham run riot at the Britannia. The north London side rack up their fourth clean sheet in five to close the gap on Leicester at the top of the table.

Kane and Alli at the double

Tottenham Hotspur closed the gap to five points at the summit of the Premier League with a thumping 4-0 win over Stoke City.

Harry Kane punished over 200,000 Fantasy managers that shipped him out across the previous fortnight, bagging his third brace in five outings. The Lilywhites’ talismanic frontman has amassed five more shots on target (18) than any forward in his last six starts and is leading an attack that’s bagged 13 goals in five matches. With some tempting fixtures to follow (WBA, che, SOU, new), many will now be looking to re-acquire Kane for the run-in.

Similarly, Dele Alli had nearly 100,000 managers lamenting their decision to cash in on a midfielder that delivered attacking returns (three goals, four assists) in five of his last six fixtures. The 6.2-priced England international currently ranks joint-third among all midfielders for total score (162) this campaign, underlining his immense value.

Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela grabbed assists, while Christian Eriksen turned provider for two of the visitors’ strikes. The latter’s Fantasy value is well-documented, but Lamela is also worthy of consideration, given that he’s upped his output (one goal and two assists in two) and has fired seven shots inside the box in his last four starts.

Investors in Spurs’ rearguard profited from their fourth clean sheet in five match-ups. Tottenham next host a West Bromwich Albion outfit that posted three blanks in their past quartet of fixtures, so Mauricio Pochettino’s troops will fancy their chances of securing another shut-out.

Potters battered at the Britannia

Stoke City lay claim to a solitary win in six matches following their second successive heavy defeat.

The Potters shipped 10 goals in their last trio of outings and have mustered one clean sheet in 12, negating the appeal of their defensive assets. At the other end of the pitch, Marko Arnautovic (10 goals five assists) harbours some promise, yet Stoke’s mixed schedule (mci, SUN, cry, WHU) and absence of a double Gameweek diverts attention away from the Austria international. Xherdan Shaqiri is an early doubt for the weekend after he was forced off at the break with a hamstring complaint.

Hibbert steps up Toffees recovery

Tony Hibbert clocked 45 minutes for Everton’s U21 outfit as they ran out 1-0 victors over Manchester City.

With Jagielka and Seamus Coleman both likely to sit out the Merseyside derby, there’s a possibility that Hibbert – at a price of just 3.9 in FPL –could receive a call to action at Anfield. Alternatively, Roberto Martinez might opt to reinstate Leighton Baines (if fit) at left-back and swap Bryan Oviedo onto the opposite flank. Nonetheless, given that Everton have home clashes against Bournemouth and Norwich on either side of their double Gameweek 37, Hibbert could be worth monitoring if the Toffees injury worries in defence fail to improve.

Wilshere scores for Gunners reserves

Jack Wilshere continued his recovery from injury by finding the net in a 2-1 reserve loss to West Brom.

Wilshere could be on course for a return to top-flight at some point before the end of the season, then, after Arsene Wenger confirmed he will need “three or four games” at this level before being considered for the first-team squad. Whilst the upcoming clashes against West Brom and Sunderland look likely to come too soon, the Gunners’ final two home matches, against Norwich and Villa in Gameweeks 36 and 38 respectively, could allow Wenger the chance to hand him some minutes in the centre of the park.

Cleverley, Lennon and Baines to be assessed later today. "They're very close," says Roberto.

RM says Club's young players are "mentally ready" and that he will turn to them again if needed.
RM: "It's a defining week for our season. The derby is a chance to make our fans proud, an FA Cup semi-final is massive."

Ok if Cout & KDB plays today/tomorrow then for GW 35 how are these transfers for -8?

    KDB > Alli
    Cout > Mane
    Rashford > Kane

What's the average numbers of players left in the top 10K? Including captain as 2 players?

I need massive showings from Cech, Bellerin, Sakho, Delaney, Milner, Ozil, Payet, Milner, Martial & Lukaku.

At the bottom of https://fpldiscovery.wordpress.com/2016/04/16/1516-gw34-team-selection-and-stats/ there's a section on 'Gameweek Schedule and Coverage'. Simply add the percentages together of the players in the remaining games and divide by 10 (the number of teams still with games to play) and you get the remaining average.

Is it worth taking a hit next week? I can field XI with a FT but one of my players is Coutinho.

I don't think there is any player worth the 4pt hit tbh. For my FT i'm currently deciding between Alli, Dier and Defoe.

We all knew that going without the form players from a form team was a risk. Alli and Kane both getting double figure hauls hurt, but it's not like we didn't know that it could happen.

Thrown together with the fact that NONE of my three Liverpool players started, it hurts even more. The players were aquired not especially for their form but for their fixtures from 34-37, and now it looks like a stupid move.

If I could travel back to gw33 I'd probably do it all again. Maaaybe I'd keep Alli instead of Mahrez, gotten Firmino instead of Coutinho and Moreno instead of Sakho, but to be honest my team wouldn't be very different.

And I still have 14 players to go. They may not get the 13 and 15 points of Kane and Alli, but most of them already have a head start. Bolasie almost just needs to show up to bag 15, and Mitrovic only needs the goal that Newcastle desperately needs, to match Kane's output.

TL;DR: we all knew it was a risk and we don't know yet if we did the right thing by taking it.

General consensus on BBC Radio Leicester Sports show was that Ulloa will come straight in. Other option Mahrez to the middle with Dyer or Gray coming on the wing, but prevailing opinion was that Ulloa has earned his place and it makes sense to not change the system. Okazaki likely to lead the line with Ulloa behind him.

Newcastle were at their best at the weekend when Mitrovic came on. He set up both the last two goals in only a short cameo. I think Benitez is better off starting with Mitrovic then brining on Cisse to protect a lead. Cisse links up better and frustrates - but Mitrovic offers genuine threat. They will need to score big tonight as Man City will score.

I kept and played my Spurs boys but people need to be a bit sensitive sometimes.

Last night really was a dagger in the heart to a lot of people.

There's a time and a place to rejoice and now is neither the time or place imo.

That's a bit unfair.people without a wildcard had to endure two weeks of wildcards, bench boosts 30 players playing, etc etc .
Nobody put a gun to anyone's head and said get rid of your spurs players.I'm not rejoicing just saying how I got on.

    B) Lukaku, Mignolet ->Darlow, Kane (and have 10 players this gw)

both for -4, thinking of keeping Smalling for DGW37, that's why I'm asking if it's worth it.

    Team in full:
    Robles Migno
    Bellerin Gab Ward Smalling Huth

Does anyone think Klopp will field the reserves against Newcastle like he did at the weekend? Does this rotation prediction sound reasonable?

20 April - Everton (First team)
23 April - Newcastle (second string)
28 April - Villareal (First team)
1 May - Swansea (second string)
5 May - Villareal (First team)

I am tempted to ship Coutinho in GW35 as I can't see him getting much PL gametime in weeks 35 and 36.

Selling Toby and Kane I have no regrets over. But I'm really struggling with why I got rid of Alli for Lanzini especially considering I was always going to have to take a hit to field 11 next week. Seems a very bad move.

      • 12 Years

Yeah, but it looked like the right thing to do at the time. Alli with 1 game at Stoke didn't seem that risky, despite some form.
