After rolling out our preferred picks in defence for the remaining four rounds of fixtures, we focus our thoughts on the centre of the park. Alexis Sanchez keeps his place at the summit thanks to both form and a security of starts, whilst Liverpool and City’s European commitments and potential rotation over the run-in also plays a major part in our thinking.

With four goals and two assists in his last five appearances, Alexis Sanchez remains at the top of our refresh. Arsenal’s lack of cup commitments over the run-in ensures that the Chilean is a nailed-on starter for the final four Gameweeks in a run that hands them showdowns with three (sun, NOR, mci, AVL) of the bottom four.

Whilst Mesut Ozil offers a similar security of starts, there’s no doubts that the German has struggled for form and has produced one goal in six ahead of tonight’s showdown with West Brom. Elsewhere at the Emirates, Alex Iwobi offers a viable budget route into Arsene Wenger’s attack. The 4.6-priced youngster has started each of the last four now and racked up two goals and a couple of assists over that period – he does remain a slight rotation risk, though, which may deter many from investing at a time where opting for nailed-on starters is key over the run-in.

Certainly, there’s no question marks over Dele Alli’s security of pitch time. The Spurs midfielder severely punished those who sold him ahead of double Gameweek 34 by bagging a brace away to Stoke on Monday evening and has racked up three goals and a trio of assists in his last five matches. Still priced at a very generous 6.1, Alli has the form to keep on delivering over the final four (WBA, che, SOU, new) as Mauricio Pochettino’s men chase Leicester down at the summit.

Liverpool pair Philippe Coutinho (8.3) and Roberto Firmino (8.1) both bagged a goal apiece over the double Gameweek to maintain their fine recent form. Although the Reds now have a superb run of fixtures remaining (NEW, swa, WAT & CHE, wba), the upcoming Europa League semi-final dates against Villarreal will surely play a major part in Jurgen Klopp’s domestic team sheets. The first leg takes place five days after this weekend’s home match with Newcastle and three days before the trip to Swansea, whilst the second leg occurs four days after their Liberty clash and three days before the home match against Watford, which is the first of their double Gameweek 37 fixtures.

Coutinho has scored in each of his last three starts but bearing in mind he has been rested for two of the last three league matches, there still has to be concerns over his pitch time. Firmino, who has bagged an impressive eight goals and four assists in his last 11, has started each of the last three since recovering from injury and if Divock Origi is ruled out with an ankle injury sustained against Everton last night, there’s a chance he could be utilised as a false nine if Klopp looks to manage Daniel Sturridge’s minutes. Whilst the Liverpool midfielders have plenty of upside, then, the risk of rest and rotation still hangs heavy over Anfield.

City’s Kevin de Bruyne (10.4) is also lower down in our refresh for similar reasons. The Belgian was benched in Gameweek 33 ahead of the Champions League quarter-final against PSG and with the likes of Raheem Sterling, and possibly Samir Nasri, back in contention, there’s a fear that his minutes will be managed as Manuel Pellegrini targets Europe in his final few fixtures at the helm. De Bruyne’s single assist in the last three also makes his 10.4 price tag a little prohibitive, with many preferring Sergio Aguero as their only source of City attacking coverage for the final four (STO, sou, ARS, swa) Gameweeks.

With a pair of home matches against Swansea and United in double Gameweek 37, the 8.5-priced Dimitri Payet cannot be overlooked. West Ham face a blank this week and have trips to West Brom and Stoke on either side of the double, which sees the Hammers play at Upton Park for the final time before moving grounds. Although Slaven Bilic’s side boast a significant threat in the final third, scoring at least twice in each of their last six, the attacking returns have dried up for Payet of late. Indeed, he’s played a part in just three of their last 12 goals and served up no more than an assist for double Gameweek 34 – food for thought for those considering handing him the armband for the penultimate round of matches.

Two goals and a pair of assists in his last four appearances highlights Andros Townsend’s recent improvement. The 5.7-priced wide man has served up 29 points over that period and those who snapped him up for double Gameweek 34 may well look to hold for the remainder of the campaign. The Magpies’ appeal is boosted by a Gameweek 35 fixture (albeit a trip to Liverpool) and ensuing showdowns with Palace and Villa offer further reason for optimism.

Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek could also be one to consider. Although Guus Hiddink has chopped and changed his team sheet in recent matches, the youngster has started each of the last three in a central support role and bagged a goal against Villa in Gameweek 32. With five fixtures in the final four (bou, TOT, sun & liv, LEI), he could prove to be a decent budget enabler at a price of just 4.6.

Annoyingly, it doesn't look like it. Kharzi not fulfilling his early promise at the moment. Worth monitoring though.

I miss the days of See Larsson, I'm sure I've punted on him in a DGW every season for about 5 years.

Kharzi was the one I was thinking of, but looked poor against Leicester, and not seeing many other returns from him.

Larsson was a solid pick, but don't see him getting the minutes now, think it'll be his last year at Sunderland

Just confirmed this -8 hit: Rashford, Lukaku, Payet to Kane Alli Pelle
    Leaves me:

    Darlow
    Bellerin Simpson Sahko
    Sanchez Ozil Alli Coutinho
    Aguero Kane Pelle

Robles PVA (only sub with a game) Fosu Lanzini

Was this a good move? Team G2G? Without the hit I would have only had 9 players including Coutinho and Sahko so potentially only 7 starters. thanks

    Liverpool rotation:

The last Liverpool game in the Europa league was on Thursday 14th April

The first DGW EPL game after was on the 17th April (3 days later, with heavy rotation against a weak BOU)
The second DGW EPL game was on the 20th April (3 days later, with full strength squad for the Derby)

Looking at the next few GWs dates:

EPL game on 23rd April (3 days later) - I would expect rotation here looking at what Klopp has done for other 3 day game games but then the team have 5 days to rest before the Europa game so perhaps he wont...but Newcastle are a team on the knifes edge so they could be quite a tough game to play....
First Europa game is on 28th April (5 days later)

EPL game on 1st May (3 days gap later) - Again same as above, but with 4 days gap - more of a chance to rotate but still 4 days is a good period of rest and Swansea have nothing to play for so a rotated Pool side could be fine.
Second Europa game is on 5th May (4 days later)

DGW EPL game on 8th May (3 days later) - I would expect heavy rotation here based on the last Europa second leg against Dortmund and the time lapse between the first game from the last DGW plus Watford are a "weak" team.
DGW EPL game on 11th May (3 days later) - Full strength squad expected against Chelsea.

I have Courtinho but I'm worried about his pitch time...especially looking at the above.

Only the Bourn game looks easy. Sunderland and Norwich both fighting for their survival and obviously Leic will be a tough game. Then when you factor in the blank and Evertons form. It's all looking grim.

Lukaku will be gone from my team once the Ars game has been played, and I'd sell Robles too if I could spare a transfer

This week has gone pretty well for me so far, which has resulted in me going from no chance of winning anything, to me competing on 3 fronts! Slightly tricky as I'm now having to balance a potential April prize, an overall prize, and a head to head that will be decided by GW37 and 38 matches.

This week looking pretty precarious, and resting on Kloppo's line up.

    Mignolet (Robles)
    (Smalling) Bellerin Gabriel Clyne Lascelles
    Ozil (Payet Lanzini Bolassie) Firmino
    Ageuro Mitro Defoe

With Mitro and Gabriel also looking at risk, it could be a washout.

How many points do you reckon I'm going to need to splurge?

Klopp's eyes are turned towards winning the EL, and it's guaranteed he'll rotate his squad heavily till Pool's march in EL is over. So, the less Liverpool players you have from now on, the less rotation headaches you'll suffer.
For me that means Coutinho out for Alli now, and next week Lovren for a Spurs defender or PVA.

    Sturridge Kane Agüero

What would you do? I dont have a keeper for GW 35. Unfortunately I sold Alli last week and I would like to correct this mistake again.

Usually I'd say I love the double Mahrez. But on current form I'd probably sell one of them 😉

Take a hit to get a keeper.... As long as your keeper doesn't concede 2 or more, it'll only be a -2pt hit. And then a cleanie/save points/bonus/penalty save could make you up on the deal

Payet is missing of course 😀

Which GK would you choose? Just 4.4 ITB (selling Hennessey)

With all the craziness surrounding Liverpool's rotations. Should we avoid them altogether?

I'm stuck with 3 of them, and I still need to take a 4pt hit to just get 11 players who have a game in 35

I am, when I played my WC a before GW33 the plan was Bolasie to Coutinho for this week, but that's now scrapped.

I only have Sakho, and I'll probably stick with him now

    Bottomed:

To field 11 this week I need to ditch Martial, not enough itb to get Kane, but Defoe is on form with something to play for.....so Martial > Defoe?

    I can't see anyone else < 8.3 worth getting

I think Defoe is a nice option. No Kane, but about as good as you're gunna get on your budget

Considering there isn't a single player in liverpools current squad that klopp has signed I'd say he's done quite well in his first 6 months. Actually he signed caulker on loan. Still.
Will be a big transfer window for liverpool this summer. I'd sign a top cdm & lb, with matip, grujic & Allan (remember that name) to ease in over next season I'd say they could push for the title next year.
Also think klopp will be in for a pleasant surprise when ings & gomez are fit. Thoughts?

They'll be title contenders next season, if they get CL and high calibre players that go with that

Right, so I guess it comes down to this:

    A. Kirchhoff & Coutinho
    B. PvA & Alli -4

    Which one is better?

It's a tough call but if you have doubts over whether Coutinho will start go for B

Aguero has a similar goals tally to Kane and Vardy yet he's played 1,000 fewer minutes. I think I'll probably captain him no matter what happens in the West Brom game tonight to be honest

    1. Heels_Over_Head
      • 12 Years

by that logic, you should captain Mahrez

Agüero has 6.2 PPG... putting at #2 behind
      Mahrez at 6.8 PPG

Would it be mad to get in Eriksen over Alli? I've checked their stats over the last 4 gameweeks and they are very similar. Eriksen slightly more creative, Alli slightly more direct.

    Plus eriksen takes corners.

Eriksen is a great shout. He's just a lot more expensive so it depends if you need that extra 2m

      Townsend Noble Alli Firmino Sissoko
      Aguero Sturridge Caroll
