Alexis Sanchez grabs both goals as Arsenal sweep aside West Brom in the final fixture of Gameweek 34. Aaron Ramsey supplies both assists upon his return to the starting XI, whilst Gabriel drops to the bench as the Gunners earn a fifteenth shut-out of the season.

Sanchez at the double

Arsenal leapfrogged Manchester City into third spot by virtue of a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Alexis Sanchez grabbed his second and third goals of the Gameweek, meaning he’s now produced attacking returns (six goals, three assists) in each of his previous seven starts. The Chilean subsequently ended Gameweek 34 on 25 points, just one less than Sergio Aguero, in what proved a titanic armband tussle between the duo. Considering that Mesut Ozil served up his sixth blank in seven outings, Sanchez has established himself as the clear favoured route into Arsenal’s attack ahead of showdowns with three of the current bottom four.

Drafted in for Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey supplied the assists for both goals. Although the Welshman’s price tag (7.8) could furnish us with an alternate source of Gunners coverage, his lack of security of starts keeps him on the periphery of our thinking.

At the expense of Gabriel, Per Mertesacker made his first start in five fixtures and earned a single bonus point, whilst Olivier Giroud usurped Danny Welbeck as the Gunners’ lone striker. In both cases, one would imagine that the displaced player will regain their starting berths at Sunderland next time out, yet the uncertainty will likely prompt owners to explore their options given that Gameweek 35 is already without three fixtures.

Arsenal enjoyed their third clean sheet in five match-ups, positioning them joint-second for shut-outs (15) this term. With home matches against Norwich City and Aston Villa also still to follow, the North Londoners still boast strong clean-sheet potential in their final quartet of fixtures.

Baggies season stutters to a standstill

West Brom slumped to their fourth defeat in five outings as they managed a solitary shot on target at the Emirates.

Bearing in mind that Tony Pulis’ side have scored just once in the last five matches, investors in Spurs’ defence will be buoyed ahead of their duel at White Hart Lane on Monday. Indeed, having managed just a single clean sheet over that period, and with showdowns against West Ham United and Liverpool also to follow, those still holding the Baggies’ assets will surely be looking for a way out now.

So I've ditched Martial and Payet for Pelle and Alli for a -4 hit, leaving me with:

    Mignolet
    Lovren Monreal Simpson
    Coutinho KDB Iwobi Alli Sanchez
    Kane Pelle

    Darlow Mitrovic Darmian Smalling

I'm worried about Coutinho, KDB and Iwobi this week. Considering Coutinho > Firmino for another -4. Worth it? Should I start Mitrovic?

Aren't you just going to have to buy Payet back the week after? Wouldn't do Firmino, as he's not guaranteed to start either (played both of the last games, and without Origi, he may be the preferred striker for Villareal midweek - so dropped this weekend). Lovren may not play either.

    Greetings.
Made the unfortunate error of capping Ozil instead of Agueor this week and as a result dropped from 20k to 50k. Could be worse though, I guess.

My XI for this week is:

    Forster
    Toby Fuchs Moreno Bellerin
    Firm Ozil Iwobi Mahrez
    Aguero Vardy (Red)

    Subs: Hennessey, Smalling, Payet, Lukaku

Vardy let me down with the sending off and possible suspension.
    Should I: with 1 FT
    1) Stick
    2) Vardy --> Defoe
    3) Vardy --> Carroll
    4) Vardy + Lukaku --> Defoe/Carroll +Kane

Input would be much appreciated. 🙂

Moreno and Firmino are doubts due to Europa semi - the former very unlikely to play. I personally don't think Firmino will either. So I don't think you can afford to buy Carroll now as you need players for this week. I'd go Defoe. If you're feeling lucky the Defoe and Kane option could pay off, as it would near guarantee you 11 starters this week + Kane is on fire, so may score enough to make up for the loss of Lukaku's double in 37.

i can get 11 out with 1 sub for gw35 but...

    who to bench?

    Iwobi (sun)
    *Sakho (NEW)
    Mitrovic (liv)

    *i have Mignolet in goal.

Sakho and Mitrovic are both doubts from rotation. I'd sub Sakho as he's least likely to start.

Sell hard, he's banned for GW35 and then has some horrendous fixtures.

Too many good options around with more games over the next 4GWs to justify holding on to him.

A little prone to rotation (Sakho, Gabriel, Coutinho) with no subs for 35, but generally look in good shape for the run in. You could take a hit on Sakho for PVA or Azpi if you can afford it. May not sound tempting, but if Klopp continues to rotate the entire defence (seems likely) Sakho will only play 2 of Liverpool's remaining 5 games. On that basis Azpi or PVA only need to play all 5 to get 6 points more than Sakho, and it's only -4 to make the change. So you may be better off.

Thing is mate the top 6 all have Bellerin including myself so I need to go risk it and go differential and play someone who has a chance of scoring big.

      D. None of the above.
All good for gmwk 35, but what about planning for 37? All of your buys only play once, and you're taking a hit to get them in.
I wouldn't sell Payet (great fixtures after this week).
Not a lot of choices out there, but top of my list are Defoe, Azpi and Milner. Admittedly Kane is probably worth it if you can make the numbers work.

Thanks for the input... big problem I have is I only have 9 players to field so need to make at least a -4 hit to get 11 players out!

I think Courtinho will be rested tomorrow and deffo in the next double game week! Martial was so poor this double game week and I need Kane! Only big loss in the above is Smalling but need him out to fund it all!

        Hmmm

My thinking is basically, you need at least 4 back for each player at -4. Easiest way to get there is to be adding a player this week + in the double in 37, (hence Defoe, Milner, Azpi). I have a feeling Coutinho will play, and Firmino will be rested - Origi's out, so I think Firmino will lead the line against Villareal, and so won't play tomorrow, so would keep Coutinho (admittedly, that is my hunch only) unless the rest of your team are guaranteed starters. If so then fair enough. Equally he won't play both in 37, and may not play in-between too. So I guess fair enough to sell.

Posted before but need some more opinions, prefer option B myself but that leaves me nobody on the bench and with Sakho, Lovren, Gabriel and De Bruyne as rotation worries I'm thinking C is the safer option, but for -8 I'm not so sure 🙄

    Darlow
    Lovren, Bellerín, Simpson, Sakho, Gabriel
    Coutinho, De Bruyne, Sánchez
    Agüero

Not playing: Robles, Lanzini, Payet, Lukaku, Martial

    A) Martial, Lukaku -> Defoe, Kane -4 ( gives me Gabriel on the bench )
    B) Coutinho, Martial -> Alli, Kane -4 ( no bench )
    C) Martial, Lukaku, Lanzini -> Defoe, Kane, Alli -8 ( Gabriel and Lovren on the bench )

Turned out to be a decent DGW for me despite 5 of my players be resting for 1 game and 2 failing to do much (Martial and Fosu). I reduced a 60 point gap on my ML leader to 4 points so overall quite happy although it could have been better if I didn't do so much tweaking with my WC.

So I'm pretty sure my ML leader will give Aguero the armband GW35, he doesn't have Kane and needs to do at least 2 transfers to get 11 out and his TV is rubbish so not sure he'll get Kane in.

Who should I captain given I have Aguero and Kane now? I could bank on him going Aguero and then matching that and hoping he doesn't get Kane so any Kane brace would bring in points against him, or just give Kane the armband and hope he out scores Aguero. What do people think?

    1. Morgs
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 9 months ago

Go with Aguero, sounds like he will and you don't need to gamble as you're so close. Any Kane points are a bonus so long as he doesn't get him in.

I'd also just go Aguero anyway tbh, I think he'll score more points.

Ended up with a GW score of 140, very happy with that considering how Saturday went. My only regret is the whole time I was in the WC process was to leave myself enough cash to do Lukaku to Kane if necessary, got drunk changed Sakho to Clyne and massively regret it as it meant Lukaku to Kane wasn't an option when Lukaku was a doubt for the first game.

Lukaku has now gone for Kane and I vow never to pick him again.

    De Bruyne // Sanchez // Coutinho //
    Sturridge // Aguero // Mitrovic

    Subs: Robles**, FM**, Payet**, Lanzini**

    1 FT
    0.5 ITB

What do you guys think about - Mitrovic, Coutinho & Payet --> Kane (TC), Alli & Milner (-8)

A bit mad/rash? I want to triple captain Kane this week. Alternatively could just go Sturridge --> Kane for free, as do have exact funds, but do I really want to sell him?

      Total madness.
Why sell Payet? WHU have great fixtures after this week. Payet is a nailed on armband choice for gmwk 37, and a much better TC option then, than Kane now on a single week. TC on a single gameweek is never going to be a good idea.
Sturridge should play this weekend, so probably not worth selling him now (although who knows rotation will bring there). If you're hell bent on Kane, I'd go KDB and Mitrovic > Kane and Milner. KDB probably going to be dropped next two weeks due to CL semi. Milner looks the only everpresent for Liverpool, who have great fixtures and a gmwk 37 double.

With fewer double gameweek options in GW37, Liverpool players look more valuable than ever. But then, I avoided Coutinho; my FPL players were and will remain Mignolet, Sakho, and Milner. Uninspiring but profitable. 🙂

Well, Liverpool should be the best option - but if Klopp makes 9-10 changes every game, then they're actually a bad choice. Sakho could play as few as 2 of Liverpool's remaining 5 - esp. if Liverpool beat Villareal, and still have a Europa final to consider in a couple of weeks. Even if not Sakho will probably only play 3 (neither of the next two). With Chelsea already on their hols, Sunderland may be the best option... slim pickings for gmwk 35.
