FantasyBet’s biggest ever contest is coming up on Sunday as the 2015/16 campaign draws to a close. There’s £5000 available in the Grand Finale, offering a top prize of over £1,300 with an entry fee of £33.

As usual on the last day of the season, all kick-offs are at the same time, so with entries available up to 3pm, it’s possible to enter FantasyBet games after you’ve finalised your Fantasy Premier League line-ups.

While the Premier League may be over for the summer, there’s still plenty of football to keep us entertained, with FantasyBet hinting something special is in the works. Look out for their coverage of Euro 2016, which will include both a long-format competition and five-a-side concept.

If you are unfamiliar with FantasyBet it is particularly accessible for those who play Fantasy Premier League, as it uses a similar prices and scoring system.

Check out this daily and weekly fantasy guide to see how the game works.

MY TEAM

David De Gea (5.5m)
Virgil Van Dijk (5.5m)
Hector Bellerin (5.5m)
Chris Smalling (6.5m)
Alex Iwobi (4.5m)
Dusan Tadic (7m)
Juan Mata (8.5m)
Alexis Sanchez (11m)
Shane Long (5.5m)
Harry Kane (9.5m)
Sergio Aguero (13m)

KEY PICKS

David De Gea Prior to the 1-1 draw with Leicester, the Spaniard was unbeaten in five straight matches in front of his own fans. Indeed, Louis Van Gaal’s side have conceded only eight goals and registered 12 clean sheets in 18 fixtures at Old Trafford ahead of Bournemouth’s weekend visit.

Hector Bellerin A home clash against an Aston Villa side that’s blanked in five of their last seven affords Arsenal the chance of a fourth clean sheet in five attempts. Bellerin has already served up five assists this campaign and his raids down the right are bound to cause the visitors plenty of problems as they prepare for life in the Championship.

Dusan Tadic Hugely impressive in recent weeks, the Serb has delivered two strikes and six assists over the last four matches. With a 70% goal involvement for Southampton during that time frame, Tadic looks set to benefit from a home tie against a Crystal Palace side with one eye on next week’s Wembley final.

Sergio Aguero The Argentine has netted in six consecutive league matches and is now just one goal behind Harry Kane in the race for the Golden Boot. Hosts Swansea have mustered only one clean sheet in six as City travel to the Liberty looking for a result that would seal a top four spot in Manuel Pellegrini’s final match in charge.

LAST WEEK

My fortunes in FantasyBet have been as erratic as on-pitch events this season. The penultimate weekend saw Swansea inflict West Ham’s first defeat at Upton Park in the league since September and with a trio of Hammers assets in all of my line-ups and the armband firmly on either Andy Carroll or Dimitri Payet, it was a week with minor returns.

In low-scoring Gameweek, Teelxp won the Grand Weekend contest with 68 points. A bold triple up of Newcastle defenders combined with the differential pick of Swansea’s Andre Ayew, who scored 13 points, netted over £250.

THIS WEEK’S GAME PICKS

As always the best place to start if you’re new to FantasyBet are the freerolls. There is a £50 pot available for this Gameweek in both the standard and Flash Mode – they both cover all of the matches in Gameweek 38.

The Weekend DoubleUp has a £120 guaranteed pay-out with those managers who finish in the top half of the league at least doubling their £3.30 stake.

As mentioned above, The Grand Finale is the biggest pot FantasyBet have ever offered, with £5,000 in winnings being paid out. Multiple entries are available for a £33 fee to have a chance to end the season with a considerable windfall.

THIS WEEK’S STAKE

I’m entering two teams into The Grand Finale and also place line-ups in the freerolls, the Double-up contest and entering a team into the FFScout Picks League for a total outlay of £69.30.

In addition, I’ll be going up against AZ, the Community champion in this week’s Scout Picks.

He will be taking me on in a specially set up head to head game for a chance to win free entry into a £500 Guaranteed ‘Big Weekly’ game worth £22. Also the eligible Community Champion who beats the Scout Picks by the highest margin every month will win a free entry into the £600 guaranteed ‘Boss’ game worth £55.

FFSCOUT PICKS LEAGUE

Hlopchick topped the FFScout league – which covered all of the double Gameweek fixtures – last week. He emerged victorious with a massive score of 121 points; six of his players recorded double figures or more, with Nathan Redmond (18 points) and Patrick Van Aanholt (17 points) the standout picks.

Once again, FantasyBet have provided a £100 pot for the FFScout Picks League – with a £1.10 stake for entry, it is now possible to enter two teams into this contest. I will enter our Scout Picks as closely as possible, given a 15-man squad is required with the 100m budget and a captain also needs to be selected.

Feel free to go up against them this week and pick your own squad on FantasyBet.

rival has both deeney & martial so i need tocover one of them to try and protect my slender 15 point lead. Which is better,

Deeney & Sanchez (would have to lose mahrez who rival has)
Martial & Tadic (would be losing lanzini)

The striker coming out in both sitations is Sturridge.

Fraser Forster and James Ward-Prowse have signed new long-term deals at Southampton.

The club recently moved to tie up Virgil van Dijk on new terms, with goalkeeper Forster following suit with a five-year contract, while Ward-Prowse has agreed a new six-year deal.

Bilic getting the digs in at Watford. 100% correct.

"I'm sorry for Quique. It's completely wrong, they've had a fantastic season," said the Hammers boss. "As far as I know if someone had offered Watford that...before the season everyone predicted they were likely candidates to go down.

"Yet they were never in danger and until January or February they were in the top eight, or top 10. Add to that they play good football, and add to that they were in the semi-final of the FA Cup, beating Arsenal away.

"They had a great season, the place was buzzing, it was a season to be proud of. It says it's more important how you finish than how you start but it is nonsense for me. People say it's common in Europe, it's common in England, but it's completely wrong, it's sick."

The problem is over the past few years there have been a few examples of managers everyone thought were doing a great job, but were replaced anyway, and now the team has progressed again, obviously Leicester, but I remember people being critical of Southampton for sacking Adkins, and bringing in an unknown Pochettino.

      1. Somalion
        • 15 Years

I'm just not convinced in the case given how well they did. I understand Leicester, Pearson was toxic. In fairness I was unhappy about Southampton because Adkins didn't even get a full season.

Don't get me wrong it can of course go the other way, such as Newcastle for example, wasn't Big Sam sacked when they were 6th? But I'm only saying that there are a few more recent examples that once a club gets into the PL the need for a more established manager, or at least big name manager becomes greater.

I think it could soon be the case that a manager winning promotion from the Championship, won't start the new season in the PL.

Nice 1st sub to have! Mine would be Lanzini.

I think my other forward players should all start, so no too worried about having a full team, but I only have a 5 point ML lead, so the striker spot could be all important.

Strikers are tricky to gamble on though as we only get 3 and we usually want to play 3-4-3 most of the time so cant look past the likes of Kun, Costa and Kane. Not sure I would want to play him at some of the bigger teams (Says the man that benched Callum Wilson for his hatrick at WHU earlier this season).

You obviously followed the herd in that case.

Mahrez was very promising throughout 2014/15 when he got a chance. But Pearson only played him intermittently.

What was different this time (and the reason he was in my GW1 team) was that Ranieri had played him regularly in the 1st team in pre-season and had done pretty well. He looked like starting the season as 1st choice and was therefore selectable.

      Same goes for Vardy actually.

So...under-the-radar younger players that could do well given a run in the team? Ward-Prowse. Barrow. Origi. Will be worth watching what their managers are doing with them in pre-season.

Ward Prowse especially. He's on the cusp of a breakthrough season...we'll definitely know more from the pre season games.

And also not sure 'following the herd' is accurate considering Bedok, and our very own Andy were among a tiny proportion of managers that had Mahrez from GWK 1. Andy was in an even smaller percentage that actually captained the Leicester man.

Mahrez had 1.8% ownership in GWK 1 and was captained by under 0.0%. I researched this for when Andy was on the Scoutcast.

His captaincy backers didn't even register as even a tenth of one percent.

Who to bet on this weekend to replace Sturridge?

    A/ Martial vs BOU
    Pro: form and fixture
Con: rotation risk for Cup, not a great differential in the top 100k players

    B/ Long vs CPL
Pro: form and CPL are checked out ahead of the Cup game
Con: Hardly explosive, will also have Tadic/Mane

    C/ Deeney vs SUN:
Pro: Sunderland may relax and rotate, in form, on pens
Con: Flores leaving, Watford less reliable

    D/ Kane vs. new:
Pro: plays for golden boot, Newcastle’s morale
Con: Not a differential. Away game, Spurs not playing for anything either

Does no one think Spurs are playing for anything?? I think they'll be up for winning to guarantee finishing above us. Although I'm hoping they are demoralised from getting so close to a title challenge

The main con for Kane is surely no Dembele?? Everyone was so adamant that he affected Kane's output earlier in the season and now I've barely heard it mentioned

Every year I do this and every year it fails but hoping for a final GW BTTS in all ten fixtures (this year I left out Arsenal, serious bias) but £3.50 returns £260

I play a bit safer and go over 1.5 goals. Two years ago I did it and it would have landed except for the fact I thought Man City v West Ham odds were short so went over 2.5 for that one, ended 2-0.

With the form he's been in, I don't think Defoe gets benched for the last game of the season. He'd want to end the season on a high.

Some reckon that depite the U21 comment, Defoe will play to help him force his way into the England squad. I say good luck to anyone who wants to get in Big Sam's head - and once you get in there I dread to think what else might be lurking.

hey all...already did Studge to Kun...now need to figure which of these is better for -4

    A) Firmino to tadic or mane
    B) Carroll to Deeney

    DDG
    Bellerin Smalling Gabriel
    Payet KDB Sanchez Firmino
    Kun Defoe Carroll

    Robles Lanzini PvA Simpson

Cheers for the input and good luck to all!

A is better. I'd rather do Tadic. Firmino will not play.

The other choice, if you do not think the -4 is worth it, is to play Lanzini and bench Firmino.
