We continue our series of members’ articles, which review the numbers behind the 2015/16 season, with a look at Southampton.

To get underway, we assess the Saints’ team statistics in Ronald Koeman’s final year in charge and compare them to the rest of Premier League, before analysing their first-team squad, main goal threats and creative sources in an attempt to gain insight on their prospects for the upcoming campaign.

The Saints finished in sixth position after embarking on a superb run of form that harvested seven wins and a draw in the final nine league fixtures.

                  Generally play 352 πŸ™‚ Prefer the look of the strikers this year. Definitely going cheap at the back anyway which is the opposite of what I did last year.

                        Last year was bad for midfield heavy hitters. Most of them. And then there was a lot of value in cheap mids/fwds.

                        I wouldn't expect that to happen again. Some of the many high priced players will lead the scoring charts, and more importantly I'd bet that there will not be Kane or Mahrez like über cheap attacking player stealing the whole show. At least not as many of those as last two years.

      Feghouli is a very good player for 5.5mill. I think he was one of the players to suffer in an under-performing Valencia side. Much like Fab/Hazard at Chelsea last year.

        He also suffered a lot from his unwillingness to sign a new contract. Was fighting with the club all season.

        He is a bit of a Bojan though. Nobody can doubt his talent, but he has never been really efficient, never hit the double digits either in assists or goals.
