Have two free transfers, thoughts on the following options?

    A) Brown > Smalling
    B) Silva > Mata, Fabio > Smalling
    C) Silva > Ramires, Fabio > Vidic
    D) Silva > Ramires, Fabio > Smalling, Brown > Jones

Bit of a risk taking out Silva, but you like to play the maverick eh Jamsie??

Could you not think of some riskier picks, Connor Sammon could be interesting??

Don't get both smalling and jones. The only reeson they both played was due to carricks CL suspension, jones needed a warm up match. They rotate rb over Xmas unless rio twangs something.

can you afford just fabio to smalling? if so i'd just do that for now.
man utd have only conceded 3 goals in 7 away games so i don't see the harm in waiting a week for that, reason being i'd rather have silva than mata next week

not convinced that richardson meant to shoot that, and if he did, he definitely did not mean to go near post with the shot, he sliced it and fortunately it fooled the keeper as well, he had that smile on his face of "I didn't mean to that but I scored so I might as well enjoy it"

    Lescott, Wilkinson>Jones,Vermaelen

Do you think this time a hit for a defender is worth it? Or should I just get one of them in for next week?

Most of my rivals in a cash league have got Bale but I'm stuck with VDV. I also need to get rid of Saylor, NDyer, Turner, (Drenthe and Ramsey). Basically I have no idea what to do with my team so help would be really appreciated.. Guess I'm taking a hit this week.

Considering a silly punt on Formica and spending the money elsewhere. Don't know why really... vaguely exciting FPL prospect and a player I quite like watching. Maybe that place in my squad will be reserved solely for silly punts - in honour of Drenthe.

Drenthe wasn't a silly punt, just unlucky. Haven't looked at his injury record, but he hasn't played many games. 100 games in 6 years might tell it's own story.

Yeah, I didn't really mean a silly FPL choice per se... more a silly punt on my behalf because I'd barely seen him play and got carried away with the hype. Feels like it's come back to haunt me. I'd love to have him over that DGW but I'm not sure if I'm that patient.

Rambo has been getting about 2 goodish chances every game for a while now. He is 'trying too hard to score', as they say, and he smashes most of them over. He'll start scoring when he stops thinking about it and it'll come naturally. Whether that happens in a game or two's time or in 3 or 4 months, who knows. Be nice for AFC if it happened some time soon!

Mid priced players are so hard to gain fruitful points hauls from. For me they're like 1/3 of the whole 11 roughly and I've had Drenthe, Walters, Sinclair, Ramsey, Sessegnon e.t.c all in the weeks where they've not done much. Think i might just keep, and then sell for Larsson after 2 gw's. I like the look of him if he's on pens too.

if u have walters, i would downgrade to rodwell.
he's in sub today, so probably fit for next match.

go Simps to Jones, with Saylor out Newcastle's defence has gone downhill faster than Eddie the Eagle, and with ShawX back, Stoke look much more reliable at the back.

Anyone recommend going with Smalling this week? I can't really go with Jones as leader of my mini-league has him.

Despite Jones' regular starts, I actually consider Smalling as being more nailed on when fully fit and in form. Is that not the case?

They're both potential rotation risks but with our midfield injuries Jones may play in the centre a bit more often with Smalling RB.

Jones could easily get pushed back and Smalling rotated.

The xmas period isn't great for rotation, there's always the idea of getting both!

Why can't you go for Jones? Just aim for the team that will get the most points.

I think both will play a similar number of games over the next few months. Jones perhaps slightly more as he'll get the odd game in midfield but enough for 1.1? Not sure.

Well, we have Bale, Silva, RVP, Ramsey, Silva, Vorm and Jenny in common so I'd prefer more differentials. I also think Smalling carries more attacking threat when I think back to the end of last season where he filled in at RB, very successfully.

Unless Jones is going to carve out a role in midfield, I don't agree with him being the most secure option. Sure, he's played just about every game but that's because United have had injuries all along the back 4... hell, even Jonny Evans has had quite a bit of game time!

I think United's strongest back 4 does include Jones (and Smalling for that matter), but I don't think Ferdinand is going to be discarded just yet.
