An impressive first-half display was enough to see Liverpool beat Chelsea in their own backyard for a second successive season.

Phillipe Coutinho played his part, eased into the Liverpool starting XI courtesy of Roberto Firmino’s untimely groin tweak; he was back amongst the points. As was Diego Costa, who maintained his relentless early season form without seeing yellow. Here’s the Stock Check following Friday’s action…

On the Rise

Diego Costa
Another goal and no booking, this version of Costa undoubtedly requires serious consideration.

Many recruited the Chelsea man as an understudy for Sergio Aguero until Gameweek 6; he has passed that audition.

Some will surely be pondering their options before clicking the eject button to welcome back the City man. Having returned in each of his five Gameweeks, with five goals so far, they will be considering a downgrade in midfield to retain Costa’s services.

However, the Spaniard will need to demonstrate fixture proof qualities to maintain such form: Arsenal, Leicester City and Manchester United arrive in the next four Gameweeks.

Philippe Coutinho
Having blanked in three Gameweeks since his big haul at Arsenal, the Brazilian returned to the Liverpool line-up and provided a delicious assist for their opener. That was enough to seal him two bonus points.

On a night when Roberto Firmino missed out with a minor injury, Coutinho took his opportunity to strengthen the hold on his 28% Fantasy Premier League ownership.

In Decline

Eden Hazard
Okay, it’s too early to panic but, given the competition for spots and funds in our squads, Hazard can’t afford to embark on a run of blanks.

Three points from his last two rings alarm bells, as does the dip in his vital statistics – Hazard has mustered two goals attempts over these two blanks, compared to 14 from the opening three Gameweeks.

The Chelsea Defence
Liverpool have had a tough opening with four away trips in the first five. However, Antonio Conte’s outfit don’t have that excuse.

The Blues have enjoyed three home matches but have just the shut-out against Burnley to show for it.

With a combined ownership of 39%, Chelsea’s back five are expensive investments and, with the aforementioned tough fixtures to come, future returns appear limited.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Anyone else bring Iheanacho in?

How good to Watford's fixtures look from next week:

    bur BOU mid swa HUL

Capoue could be a genuine option as fourth mid to enable something like Lukaku, Ibra, Kun.

Ignoring Kun will no doubt come to bite those who don't transfer him in. That GW where he will score 4-5 goals (as he does every year) and everyone has him captain, your rank will plummet.

Did Andre Gray hit -100% on FFIX early today but didn't drop?
Now fplstatistics is showing -97.1 but FFIX shows -110.2%.

Would prefer to hold him until I hear more about Firmino. Planning to make Hazard->Firmino and Gray->Aguero.

As we all know, rotation over a long period of time, especially in defence ALWAYs works. So I present you this 3 way rotation for just £13m of your budget if on wildcard:

    WBA - BOU - SUN - WAT - HUL - whm - BOU - STO/CPL - BUR - SUN - wba - mid - CPL - BOU

    Pieters
    Holebas
    Amat

    🙂

Costa is making it very difficult for me to drop him to get Aguero. Hazard isn't exactly shining.

I was initially planning to ditch Costa and Ozil to Aguero, Firmino. If Ozil starts scoring, it may have to be Hazard to go.

That's just too long in Aguero world. In the worst case scenarios for his owners, Iheanacho does really well today, and Pep sticks with him for Swansea. But Aguero will almost definitely start the Spurs game, who Aguero has a really good record against.

I'd like to have him against Swans personally. Even Spurs ain't that bad, he has scored 8 goals in last 6 against them. Although, only 1 of them in the last three, so maybe Poche has changed that trend. Pep may change it back though.

So many options as to how to get Aguero back but this is my favoured one:

I'd want both too, but that'd mean no Ibrahimovic (I think).

    Which one?
    A) Ibra, Ighalo/Bony, Bolasie
    B) Costa, Lukaku, Redmond

    A) Bolasie + Bony

    Or

    B) Rodwell + Lukaku

I have Capoue in both scenarios so in the second it's likely Rodwell would be bench fodder

      In that case, A.

Capoue's stats, to me, seem unsustainable.

They definitely are. But he is a small % of overall budget at the end of the day and has some nice fixtures. I probably agree with A though

Trouble is I don't want Lukaku as he just had 1 good game vs an awful team vs Costa who's scored every week. So I could go for Barry instead of Fletcher, but where do I save £0.1m elsewhere?

    Currently on
Haz to firm or Ozil to Cazorla
    Sterling to bolasie/snoddy
    Lukaku to aguero

Looks like Firmino is more prone to rotation than we thought. I know Klopp said he had a minor niggle but he would have still played him if he thought he was that important

He's not Arsene Wenger. There was a risk he could injure himself further.

      No, Firmino is nailed.

And was in the starting line up until the very last minute, which Klopp confirmed.

Klopp said the word 'risk' was used too much by the medical team.
