Demba Ba signs off for the African Cup of Nations with a devastating forward display to send Man United to their second straight defeat. Anders Lindegaard’s clean sheet record is well and truly over, while Tim Howard nets Everton’s only goal as David Moyes’ side kicked off their double gameweek in downbeat fashion:

Demba Ba
A goal and assist for the Newcastle forward continued a remarkable Fantasy season that sees him sit second in the overall rankings with a score of 125 points, pre-bonus. Since he made his first start in gameweek 5, Ba has scored 15 goals and provided 3 assists and has so far picked up 18 bonus points, returning attacking points in ten of those fifteen first-team appearances. One of Ba’s best facets as a Fantasy player is his ability to produce whether home or away- 7 of his goals have come in front of his own fans, with 8 on the road; he’s the anti-Jonathan Walters, if you like. His departure for the African Cup of Nations is now imminent and with it will come a drop in price- considering he’s only 7.6 just now, it only makes Ba more of an outstanding bargain upon his return.

Ryan Taylor
With Gabriel Obertan failing to shake off a toe injury in time to face his former club, Taylor’s versatility afforded the full-back a place on the right flank. This allowed Alan Pardew to solve the dilemma of how to fit both Taylor and Davide Santon in the same first XI with the latter slotting in at left-back. Given that it worked to such devastating effect, the Newcastle boss may think twice about changing a winning formula ahead of the home game with QPR next gameweek. Certianly, post-match, the Newcastle boss admitted this was the best team that “was available“.

Yohan Cabaye
The former Lille man is coming to the fore as the second half of the season kicks into gear. An assist against Liverpool last week was followed by an outstanding free-kick against United as Newcastle shook of the lethargy of last week’s Anfield performance. It’s the first time this season that Cabaye has returned attacking points in back-to-back gameweeks and at 5.9, his set-piece duties and flourishing form could see him pick up plenty Fantasy suitors ahead of a run of games that reads: (QPR, ful, bla, AVL, tot, WOL).

Anders Lindegaard
With five clean sheets from his first five appearances, the Dane once again ousted David De Gea from the Man United first XI. His immaculate record was dismantled by a rampant Newcastle, though, as United failed to deal with their hosts’ determination and midfield dominance. Priced at 4.4, though, Lindegaard certainly seems just as capable as earning starts as the 6.4 priced Spaniard now but with Sir Alex Ferguson’s side facing four of the top six in the next seven gameweeks, including trips to Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs, their backline may struggle to produce the points.

Tim Howard
So far, it’s been a bit of a disaster for those Fantasy managers who loaded up on Everton players ahead of the double gameweek. A home game with Bolton offered plenty promise- Everton had conceded no more than a single goal in each of their last eight matches and with the Trotters out of sorts, a victory for David Moyes’ side was very much on the cards. Howard’s goal, a long kick downfield helped by the wind that bounced over stand-in keeper Adam Bogdan in the opposition net, summed up an unlikely night. Phil Jagielka, Leon Osman and Jack Rodwell were all forced off, with David Moyes anxiously awaiting the availability ahead of next Wednesday’s trip to White Hart Lane. Those who have plenty Spurs players, however, will be licking their lips in anticipation of more Toffees withdrawals.

Gary Cahill
While most of the recent talk has centred around his alleged departure to Chelsea, the centre-half hit the headlines for his on-pitch display last night. Cahill returned to goalscoring ways to secure a vital three points for Bolton, as his first goal since the opening day of the season lifted Owen Coyle’s side off the bottom of the table and helped the Trotters record back-to-back away wins. Priced at 5.2, he’s served a reminder of his capabilities and if Cahill’s proposed move to Stamford Bridge does, indeed, go ahead, he’ll no doubt attract the interest of plenty more than his current 18.7% Fantasy owners.

Chris Eagles
Afforded a first start since gameweek 15, Eagles got amongst the attacking points for the first time since the first week in November. Owen Coyle opted for a 4-5-1, with Eagles on the right and Martin Petrov on the opposite flank, utilising the pace of David N’Gog as a lone frontman. Eagles picked up an assist while N’Gog once again got amongst the points for the second away game in succession, netting the away side’s opener after they had gone behind to Tim Howard’s bizarre effort for the hosts.

my point is there was no even video footage of suarez incident yet suarez came out and admitted that he called his something which was accepted in his culture

i dont disagree with the ban
but im saying if that was suarez on video you know the media would have a field day on it and would lead to fa action
yet most wont even know this video exists as it is a united plaayer

My God. Have you read the FA report?

Video evidence, substantiating Evra's claims and proving Suarez to be a pernicious, repetitive liar is largely what constituted not only the decision, but the doubling of the sanction.

The two instances are nothing alike. Suarez is penalized for using racist, abusive language *on the field, during a game, against an opponent*.

And, much as it might pain you to realize - and as much as even I dislike and disagree with it, viscerally - a Black man using the n-word is different from a "non-Black" man from doing the same. [Save the grandfather talk.]

Everybody knows the video exists - Utd's the largest club in England, after all.

I'm a Red ... but that doesn't put lie to anything I've said here.

And, for the last time: that is NOT accepted in 'his culture', FFS.

Read the report, have a drink and a smoke, move on. Life's too short. 🙂

Well said, KE on all your points. As a Liverpool fan I've simply put my head in the sand on this issue, but if pushed I would call Suarez a racist little prick if I met him on the street. He knew well what he said was unacceptable regardless of what continent he comes from

I don't know about racist, I don't think you can judge it on this alone.

They did have video evidence, but that's kinda beside the point. No-one disputes what was said..not Suarez or Liverpool. The point being the context that it was said in. I'll boil down the FA report into a few short paragraphs.

Suarez stance: I said 'negrito' seven times in a friendly banter way, to diffuse the situation. Its acceptable in my country.

Evra stance: He was racially abusing me.

Independent liguistic experts: It is acceptable in some parts of S.America for 'negrito' to be used as friendly slang, but equally also used as racist abuse too.

FA: They were having an argument blates and Suarez is a lying shit.

P.S. Terry hasn't got away with jack. His case is pending a CRIMINAL inquiry. The FA can't act until that has run its course.

id get rid of R.Taylor. With Santon now competition, and Cabaye will be on more FKs, he's not worth it in my opinion. If you want newcastle defence get Simpson and then give you bit extra. Not convinced Ireland going to be consistent with starts or points.

Don't go back for another week and a half.. I do have a bit of work to be done before I get back, work that I planned to start today. Instead I've spent most of the afternoon and evening trying to crack the PPI algorithm. Trying and failing, miserably.

I recently bought Football Manager 2012, which is probably my first football management game in at least ten years.

When did these things become so f*cking complicated?

Dozens and dozens of stats per player?
I've worked on corporate mergers and acquisitions simpler than trying to negotiate a transfer?
Having to be ar*ed about things like changing pitch dimensions and such?
Press conferences and backroom staff meetings?

Way, WAY, to time intensive. Especially with this FF stuff to contend with as well.

Incidentally, I went Liverpool, and Suarez can't finish worth a f*ck on that either

The first version I played was 94/95 season. You could get world class players aged 18, on free transfers by the dozen.

The best player I ever had (94/95) season was a randon generated player called 'Toby Redwood'. Was a DC, captain, and scored 30+ goals a season. Led mighty Doncaster from Division 3 to Premiership champions 5+ times running, European Cup champions 3+ times running.

          Good times 😆

Yak the best short term replacement for Ba (until WC is played)? Who else is worth considering?
    Ruiz doesn't seem too prolific...
Morison doesn't have the easiest fixtures...
Bellamy isn't sure of game time...
Agbonlahor is a little out of form...

Atm it seems between Yak, Agbon and Bellamy. Where has everyone else's analysis brought them?

          Lets say Silva costs 10.8
Lets say you own Silva and bought him for 10 but can now sell for 10.4.
You decide to sell for 10.4
Then before deadline you decide you want him so you buy him back, he will cost you 10.8 so you will have lost 0.4

            Vorm - Sorensen

            Bale, Silva, Sess, Dempsey, Agustien

      Its a tougie.

      Senderos +.4 = Nailed on.

Kelly -.4 = Rotation risk, but more attacking potential.

Personally taking a risk with Kelly. Jol likes him I think, played alot of pre-season (and did v.well), seems to be blooding him into the 1st team going by recent game time. I'd expect him to keep his place, as long as recent performance levels hold - although could sit out tougher games.

Fulham have good fixtures tho, so I'm hoping he'll play more often than not.

I don't really care about rotation. About half the season gone and Vorm has scored 97, and that includes Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool away. I dont see any reason that the second half of the season wont yield similar returns. I can't see past him at all

I'd just get the next decent goalie depending on how crucial the rest of your cash is, probably Mingnolet, Sorenson or Krul

I understand your feelings towards him considering the season he has had, I'm sure I would feel the same way, I think it can't possibly continue however, if i had him i'd probably keep him but not going to pay over the odds now, what i really want to know if anyone can give a opinion is if people think Newcastle and Fulham rotate well in defence for the next 10 weeks or so

There is a website out there somewhere with an Excel tool that you can compare rotations. But I can't recall what the address is

Been racking the brains, and this is the outcome.

Apart from lack of Man U cover (Dempsey to Valencia if needed), can anyone give me some feedback?

    Krul | Mignolet

    Samba - Kompany - BAE - Enrique - Caulker

    Silva - Bale - Sessegnon - Dempsey - Walters

    Sturridge - RVP - Morison

    - I am still considering YAK or Aguero in place of Morison, but obviously the latter massively affects the whole balance of the team

    - Can't seem to let Walters go for some reason, he's been a decent investment

    Cheers

I've got Sess instead of Walters and plan on rotating as and when necessary,

    Mignolet, Stockdale, or Lindegaard?

ps: Krul is my other keeper. This is a long-term move for the next month or so...
