While his stamp on Scott Parker may have limited Roberto Mancini’s forward options over the upcoming Gameweeks, Mario Balotelli looks to have made matters a little less complicated for us Fantasy managers. With Fulham, Blackburn and Bolton all arriving at the Etihad between Gameweek 24-27, City’s front line looks primed for investment, with Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko vying for our attentions…

In this week’s “Versus” article for members, we take a look at both players’ displays over the last four Gameweeks, analysing their Opta and ICT Index stats, in addition to their overall Fantasy Premier League (FPL) output, to weigh up the pros and cons of their respective acquisitions.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Pique was like a fish out of water in the Premier League. He might have adapted eventually, but he didn't look good at all.

Are you kidding? He is f*cking class. And he doubles up as a brilliant goalscorer when needed. Do you watch la liga? How many times he has saved barca with superb interception, last ditch tackle. Composed passing at the back.

he is vulnerable and makes mistakes which puyol used to cover for him but now he is older and slower hence the worsening of the defence

I see him covering for puyol. Pique is solid. Defense stats off the chart with interceptions and tackling accuracy. Aerial power. Barca dont concede many goals set pieces because of him. All round composed defender who gets the ball forward with minimum fuss.

I guess you have to take into account the flight, having to check in, frisk your jacket for your passport every five seconds. Sitting in cramped economy standard. Then you find out that your luggage has been sent to venezuela instead. etc. Tiring. 🙂

ok folks (Doos, Corrigan, Vets, RCA) and anyone else who wants to contribute

I had planned on a Schwarzer/Sorensen rotation, but have now been convinced to go with Lind/Krul. So my question is this. My wc team had Santon and Evans in, should I keep both and risk the double up, or should I lose them for Senderos and an other, or should I lose Krul and go Lind/Schwarzer?

    Thoughts appreciated lads.

not GW24 vs Chelsea I won't, do they actually rotate Doos, cos surely that's what you want is to play the guy at home. Who should I get in for Evans? Senderos?

I think GK/DEF combos in the squad is a good way to spread the risk. Play one from each team in close calls and double up when premium fixtures allows it.

It's hard to see beyond my own flawed picks as I have gone for Schwarzer/Vorm for some unfathomable reason.

I wouldn't double up as it makes you either a genius or an idiot, and I always come out on the idiots' side. That said, I also have Senderos but Ful's fixtures are well known.

With your team I would go with Schwarzer/Lind, if you must.

      I have no idea 😉

        well thanks for the input

        ok how does this look

        Schwarzer/Lind

        Richards. Verm, Cahill, Santon

have 4.9 for the last slot, maybe Brown or Bardsley?

Bit late but hope you get to see this. Going by the numbers outlined in the below link (Chris Glover's wonderful blogspot, PLFantasy), Krul/Lind is one of the best rotations possible for the next 9 GWs based on the average goals conceded when playing the best fixture from the pair each week.

So I'd keep that rotation if you can afford it (I went with Vorm/Mignolet due to cheapness, wanting to keep Vorm and Evans having arguably more security than Lind) but wouldn't double up on either. I'd take Brown and Senderos instead of Santon and Evans.

Also FYI, average goals conceded when playing best fixture from given pair from GW23-31 with the rotations you're looking at is as follows (I crunched the numbers from the link I posted):

      Krul/Lind = 1.04 goals per game
      Schwarzer/Lind = 1.10 gpg

Next best after Krul/Lind is Krul/Vorm, 1.05 gpg.

Defences I looked at were: NEW, SWA, FUL, MNU, SUN, QPR.

Thinking about it you could probably hold Santon because as Doosra said, you'll be playing Lindy most of the time (I reckon probably 6 out of the next 9 GWs).

    Mignolet, Vorm
Brown, Kompany, De Laet, AFerdinand, Simpson
    Silva, Bale, Sess, Dempsey, Barton
    RVP, Aguero, Zamora

Current wildcard team, but 0.1 short of Mignolet > Lindegaard (hopes Fletcher rises again)

Is Silva, Aguero and Dzeko too much for a GW24-27 wildcard? Fancy them to all score well and this lot seem to rotate pretty well over the next 4 weeks (after which I'd wildcard again).

    Sorenson, Lindegaard
    Huth, Caulker, Simpson, Senderos, Kelly
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Walters, HBA/Sigurdsson
    RVP, Aguero, Dzeko
