He tried in the Summer, problem is, we sold them (Cesc & Nasri) too late and didn't leave enough time to replace them.
that's a harsh thing to say actually, of course they tried to find someone, just nothing came to fruition after 2 windows. i think the fabregas situation is the worst one i can remember any manager being left with, even more so than ronaldo
I think the problem is they Sold Fabs and brought in Fabs 0.5. I like Arteta as a player but he'll always be Fabregas Lite.
problem is arteta has had to play in wilshere's position all season, so it's gone fabregas to ramsey. with the minutes ramsey has had i'd put money on fabregas doubling him at least in terms of goal involvements
I'd definitely agree with you. I kinda feel like Arteta could be making a much bigger impact if the team was in better nick. I think Arsene's policy of building a strong youth based side, while sound in theory and admirable, is becoming a major hindrance for the team as nowadays. There's not much point when the bigger teams are buying up plenty of talent. I honestly expected more to be spent this year from him if he really wanted to give it a decent shot but I think it'll have some very bad consequences if they don't solidify soon. If it continues as is I'd be willing to wager RVP will want out by Summer.

Ridiculous situation. Germany get the 4th spot because Uefa's rankings give equal weight to performance in the Europa League. With the exception of Bayern making one final (which they lost to an Italian team) German clubs have done nothing in the CL.
These things often go in cycles. Serie A dominated in the 90s and then went into decline though things are improving now. The PL had its period of dominance (only won 2 CL in the time though) and now Spain are on top.
The top clubs in England are simply not as strong as they were. Players that got them to CL semis and finals are past their prime and debt has become a problem.
This has happened a few times in the past but I don't think it should reflect on the PL that much. So if City, United, Spurs and Chelsea all get to the last 16 next season it's the best league again. There is not alot of substance to it. Just happens from time to time and shouldn't reflect poorly on a league.
There priorities seem to be the premier league. United got knocked out because they didn't take the group stages serious enough. It looks bad on English football but the premier league is very physically demanding and it vital for teams to earn the UCL spots. But when a league has only one or two world class teams (spain and italy) they amount a very large number of supporters and hence more money, putting them in a strong position. And less league league pressure allows them to go all out in the UCL.

As a neutral, I see Arsenal very much at a crossroads. Either the club continue the way they are, in steady decline and RVP leaves in the summer or the club back the manager with funds to revamp this squad.
If Wenger doesn't want to spend the money, I'm sure someone else will. If he's too short sighted to see that a major overhaul is needed then I think it's time to say thank you & good night.

Regarding Wenger, I think he's created a problem for himself now in that (even if he was given the money) he cant even seem to 'attract' the players needed.

I think RVP is in a tough position. In my opinion he is one of the best strikers in the world but he's at a club that really aren't doing him justice right now. You can only carry a team for so long. On the flipside, he probably doesn't want to abandon his team, he is their leader after all and is extremely important to the morale of the team. He has been showing more frustration with Wenger at times this season (rightfully so in some cases). I think Wenger does need to make some changes, an overhaul is needed definitely. Will he make the changes though? I'd say he can be a stubborn man (as most of us have the potential to be the only difference is he's constantly under the microscope).
Personally, even as a United supporter, I'd be sad to see RVP leave Arsenal as he really is their defining player. I'd get over it when we welcomed him to Old Trafford though 😉

That's wrong-secured creditors get first shout and in football, football creditors get priority over HMRC which is why there has been a big court case recently following the Portsmouth administration.
Rules changed over them being a preferential creditor(which was still after secured creditors) and in the Football World football related creditors are preferential.

I think that rule was brought in to make sure that the smaller football related creditors got paid but it appears that some people within football are using this as a loophole to secure their debt or making a quick buck...
It was a 'protectionism' measure introduced many years ago to protect the clubs and the players but it is extremely unusual which is why HMRC are trying to go to the courts to get it set aside. Will cause issues in the sector as clubs in financial difficulties(which covers a lot) would otherwise struggle to attract and retain players and to get 'credit' on transfers.
