Some Fantasy Premier League managers may have let England fever take over a little too much in their preparations for the new season this summer.

That’s because the ownership levels of Jordan Pickford (£5.0m), Kieran Trippier (£6.0m) and Harry Maguire (£5.5m), stand-out performers at the World Cup, have surged in the last two weeks.

Such trust may prove to be misplaced as the trio are currently in danger of missing Gameweek 1 after returning to training later than their respective team-mates.

Trippier (24.8 percent) and Maguire (21.2) are now the two most popular defenders in FPL after just two weeks of the game being open.

The pair are clearly responsible for the two percent dip in Trent Alexander-Arnold’s (£5.0m) ownership, which has pushed him from first place to third when it comes to popularity among defenders.

Marcos Alonso (£6.5m) remains on 17 percent despite his role at Chelsea jeopardised by the arrival of Maurizio Sarri.

Jan Bednarek’s spell as the most fashionable £4.0m defender has come to an end, presumably due to Southampton’s signing of Jannik Vestergaard (£5.0m). The new holder of that position is Scott Malone (£4.0m) with 11.1 percent ownership, although he appears to be the second-choice left-back behind Chris Lowë at Huddersfield.

Meanwhile, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has started both of Crystal Palace’s friendlies so far and resides in just 2.6 percent of squads.

Pickford’s rise up the charts may be the reason that David De Gea (£6.0m) has seen his lead at the top of the goalkeeper popularity contest trimmed.

The Spaniard enjoyed 34.6 percent ownership two weeks ago but now sits in just 31.6 of squads. Alternatively, the drop-off may have been caused by Jose Mourinho declaring that he was unlikely to use any World Cup players in the first few weeks of the season.

Lukasz Fabianski (£4.5m) remains in second place with 24.7 percent ownership but has lost two percent since our last check.

Just below the now third-place Pickford is Ederson (£5.5m) whose ownership remains stable at 17.4 percent, while Nick Pope (£5.0m) has lost two percent.

In midfield, Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) remains comfortably the most popular player on the game, in 46.5 percent of squads.

Kevin De Bruyne (£10.0m) is in second place with 27.1 percent ownership with the much cheaper Henrikh Mkhitaryan (£7.0m) is the third most popular (21.4).

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s (£11.0m) strong start to pre-season, scoring five goals in the first three matches, has him climbing up the forwards charts. He is now in fourth place with 24.2 percent of managers backing him for Gameweek 1, dislodging Marko Arnautovic (£7.0m).

Top two Roberto Firmino (£9.5m) and Harry Kane (£12.5m) seem to have been the most fashionable sacrifice for managers getting the Arsenal man. Both of them were on roughly 39 percent ownership two weeks ago, they now have 37.8 and 33.6 respectively.

No penalty shootout for Wolves against Real Betis in the 45 minute match up. Would of been interested to judge between Costa and Cavaleiro.

Please rate my team. I’ve put a lot of time and effort in this like many of u guys. I see many nice teams around. So, what about this:

    Ederson (Patricio)
    VvD, Shaw, Douglas (Tomkins, Kabasele)
    Sane, Sanchez, Jota, Keita (Ward)
    Aguero, Firmino, Austin

I really like Kieta and think he'll be good but time will tell. Austin is a bad pick imo I'd rather have kamara.

VVD over Robertson is interesting. Shaw is a gamble but if he nails a starting berth could be golden. Keita feels like a risk but no guts no glory. Looks decent overall though.

Maybe because he plays for Burnley?
But when watching him he looks a real threat.
He might move to a bigger club in a few years?
The stats he has are great for a team who are not known for thier creativity.

He is staying in my team.
I will be keeping a close eye on how Burnley play in the Europa league as well.

I can't help but think, that Robertson is a tad overpriced, when you can get TAA/Clyne for 5.0 . So im currently punting on Clyne, well knowing I might have to shift him out at some point, unless he nails down a starting berth (he has been training and playing well so far). But in that case ill just transfer in TAA, and save that 1 mil to spend elsewhere.

If Clyne doesn’t even play is what he is saying. Judging from Klopps comments about forcing him and Henderson to take a break he could be back sooner then we think.

Not if he's subbed off at 50 minutes for TAA.

The problem with TAA and Clyne is that neither are nailed on - they're in competition with each other. There may be a fair bit of rotation. Whomever you choose is a gamble.

Robertson much safer, and offers a better attacking threat, so I think that's £1m well spent.

Hmm.. you could be right.. but the thought of having a 5.0 back from Liverpool is just too much to pass up on... Might change my view before deadline though.. Luckily I've kept 1 mil in the bank to do so 🙂

From what i've heard though, Clyne will be used for the first couple of games. Why rush TAA back to action when you have an equally good player at your disposal? Might as well rest him for the first 5 games to make sure he is 100% back. No point in rushing him back when you have both Clyne/Gomez who can fill that role. Thats all im saying

If the latter is the case then fair enough. I'm probably going with Luke Shaw, who we face a similar dilemma with.

Exact the same dilemma yeah.. I also have Shaw in my team. Maybe two is a bit overkill.. also have Mahrez and Martial.. So I could face an early wildcard unless I rethink the wholething.. But I guess most people will wc between gw 2-5

What's everyone thoughts on Liverpool players?

With Salah (c) going to be at extremely high levels, his points are largely meaningless if you are doing the same.

So it's largely down to who else you bring in. At the same time, it's extremely unlikely you'll captain Mane or Firmino much, despite the 9.5m price tag as Salah would always be preferred.

I'm currently on Robertson and Mane. Mane purely cause he can easily be switched to another premium midfielder, whilst allowing for Arnie up front.

Would be tempted to go with just Robertson - but those fixtures look really good. The alternative of course is to go Salah-less and captain someone else.....

I know they might get some clean sheets but if your going to punt surely 2 defenders with better assist/goalscoring potential would be better, especially with potential difficulties finding CS in the bigger teams early on.

      Christie Odoi Ream LeMarchand
      Cairney McDonald Seri
      Kamara Fonte Sess.

But it's kinda pointless at the moment, I'd expect us to sign 3 players to replace Fonte, Kamara, Odoi at the minimum. Probably a LB too.

Please rate my 1st Draft Team ahead of 2018/2019 Season :

    Foster, Pope
Cedric, Coleman, Robertson, Daniels, Van Aanholt
    Eriksen, Sigurdsson, Mkhitaryan, Martial, Sane
    Zaha, Tosun, Firmino

I think £13m for Salah will kill all Teams and ruin their Team structure personally....
