Gameweek 28 captaincy easier call than predecessor

The Gameweek 28 captaincy looks like a much easier call for Fantasy Premier League managers than its predecessor.

You can now vote in the latest poll at the foot of this article or in the sidebar.

In Blank Gameweek 27 many of us struggled to find a candidate for the armband that inspired much confidence, and indeed, the most popular options all blanked.

However, in this midweek Gameweek, we have some much more appealing assets on offer.

Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) and his Liverpool colleagues host a Watford side admittedly in good spirits after a heavy win at Cardiff, but the Hornets have conceded seven goals in their last five away trips.

The last time Watford rocked up at Anfield, the Egyptian broke the record for highest number of points scored in a Gameweek, his four goals and one assist making for a 29-point haul.

Salah has scored in every single Premier League match he has ever played against the Hornets, currently on six goals in three meetings with them.

Alternatively, Sergio Aguero (£11.6m) potentially becomes an option again after his Blank Gameweek 27 absence.

Manchester City host West Ham on Wednesday night, although it will be a few days after the extra-time played in the League Cup final – could that convince Pep Guardiola to rest him? We will have to see what he says in his next press conference.

However, some uncertainty over the Argentinian might even help simplify this captaincy call after such a tricky decision over the weekend.

There will be no cause for Salah to be benched, which may heavily swing the vote into his favour..

    Ederson
    Robertson / TAA / Pereira / Digne / Doherty
    Salah / Son / Pogba / Maddison
    Jimenez

    Fabianski // Rashford* / Camarasa* / Ings*

Bit mad at myself for not doing Rashford > Aguero last night as while I'm not priced out, it blocks a move I mad in mind for next GW.

Would have done it if not for the 120 minutes.

    So, would you:

    A) Rashford > Aguero
    B) Ings > Barnes
    C) Both (-4)
    D) Save FT

Not convinced by D given Trent sometimes doesn't want to turn up for work...

It's a good point so it probably then comes down to who rains more shots (on target) on the GK - and Salah wins on that front per the Members' tool

I’m I crazy captaining Auba? There is risk around sterling mins and salah and Liverpool haven’t been clicking of late, which is made worst with the Firmino injury.

Auba 100% will be gone after this gw so hoping for a parting gift

I'm a Firmino owner but am almost pleased he's injured. Liverpool will reshape and hopefully wake up a little and try something new in attack = Salah goals! If Firmino is due back before GW31, then I'll keep him on my bench until then as I'm a long-term owner.

    Ederson
    TAA Robertson Doherty Jonny
    Pogba Salah Sterling Son
    Jimenez Rash
    (Guaita Fanderson AWB Kamara)

Currently just the 4 players in GW 31:

    a) Kamara > Barnes
    b) Kamara > Rondon

    d) Kamara & Rash > Barnes & Rondon (-4)

And his ankle had blown up like a balloon - that is 2 days of rest just to let the swelling go down, no training before the mid week and then Soton & PSG in the following week ... can’t see Rashford being rushed back for midweek

So can I but I've been thinking about squeezing him in somehow (he's currently my first sub). He's quite good against top teams and Man City may be tired at the back after 120 mins. Fulham sat back and that sent him out wide. He's a bit like Vardy in that fixture doesn't create form and he prefers a team who attacks and creates space. If Antonio and Fredericks play (also very fast), I think WHU could bring about another shock.

Rashford to Jiminez? dissapointingly enough I haven't put him in till this point, and his next 2 are Hudds & Cardiff. I know Barnes plays in the blanks but surely Jim is too good to pass up?

    I already have 6 for BGW31

Jimenez will also blank in 31, and 33.

yep that's right. would you put Jimenez in though, with Hudds and Cardiff in the next 2?

If I was trying to build a team to play in 31 without using my FH...and I currently only had 6 players, probably not, it's a difficult choice, as you say the fixtures couldn't be better.

    Hi....what to do with rashford?

Assuming he is ruled out of palace game - and ogs says a doubt for weekend - what's plan?

    Would you

A....hold and play one of Anderson/ bednarek

B...sell for barnes (plays both 31 and 33)

    Thanks

Trying to build a team for GW31. Only have 6 players available for that GW.

Does that make Son > Mane for a -4 a good option?

Means I have some more weeks to build a squad in which one week I'd probs take a hit anyway, and miss Son's games to Chelsea and Arsenal. Plus think the return of Kane will have an effect on him.

    Ryan (Brouc)
    Robbo Doherty Kola(AWB-Bednrek)
    Salah- Pogba - Son- F.andrson
    (oriol)
    Kun - Laca - Jiménez
2 FT and 0 M in the bank
A - Bilud up team for GW31 and Use FH for DGW
    B- use FH GW 31

Is Bacuna nailed? Or at least, will he get more minutes than Puncheon?

I played my wilcard in GW21 and have six green arrows in a row which saved my season. But going into DGWs and BGWs without a wildcard will be a challenge. Anyone with a good strategy?

      Same issue.

Think I'm going to build a team for GW31 until GW30 save two free transfers for GW32 where thinking of triple captaining Pogba / Aguero depending on confirmed fixtures. Free hit 33 and bench boost 35.

      Although could all change

I'm trying to get 11 players for GW31 (10 is also a option). I'm thinking about keeping Pogba and Jimenez so I have them available for DGW32.

    Doubt it relates to many, but just in case, Brighton injury news;

“Leon Balogun is the only one not available.

"[Glenn] Murray, [Lewis] Dunk and [Jose] Izquierdo are all back - we have some decisions to make today.

"Solly March is also fine and has trained in the last few days - as has Jurgen [Locadia] yesterday, he's one we have to make a decision on too."

Any changes Ashley Young playing OOP as a winger? Rashford, Mata, Lingard, Herrera, Martial injured. So not so many attackers available atm.?

      Martial could be back.

That's what I think too. Probably gets injured after 28 mins

There is a chance, but I say it's more likely Sanchez, Lukaku, and Martial play. Perriera, McTom, and Pogba in the middle.

      Where's Fred, by the way?

Must be seriously out of favour if he's not on the bench Wednesday.
