How FFScout Members articles can help Fantasy managers in 2019/20

Fantasy Football Scout are planning to produce more members articles than ever before in the 2019/20 season.

With memberships for the new campaign already available, we will be writing about the key features in the coming weeks.

In 2018/19 we committed to publishing 130+ members articles and by the end of the season, we had written 150.

Those signing up to membership this time around will able to enjoy even more than 150.

For those who have never had Scout Membership before, members articles are ones which are more reliant on the data than usual pieces of content.

They are also accessible only by those who have signed up for the Scout Membership package.

These articles tend to include screenshots of important numbers, comparisons or heat-maps.

We endeavour to use these to answer some of the biggest questions in FPL each Gameweek.

In order to help potential new members fully understand the advantages, we have opened up three of these articles from the closing stages of last season for public consumption.

The first of these was an investigation into Jordan Henderson‘s new role at Liverpool.

We noticed that Jurgen Klopp was deploying the central midfielder in a more advanced position within his 4-3-3 system.

So we compared his first few appearances there to how he fared beforehand in order to see what impact it had on Fantasy.

What we discovered was that Henderson’s points potential had increased and that he was also boosting Mohamed Salah’s threat too.

After releasing that article, we noticed a continued increase in Henderson’s points per match, while Salah went on his best run of the season.

Ahead of the final Gameweek of the season, we conducted research into Nathan Redmond.

We compared his underlying statistics both before and after the arrival of Ralph Hasenhüttl to show that he could be trusted with a Gameweek 38 match against Huddersfield.

In the end, the Southampton midfielder secured a 10-point haul to finish off 2018/19 in style.

We also use members data to analyse the captaincy every week. For that reason, we have also included the Gameweek 38 instalment of Captain Sensible as part of our free to the public offer in preparation for the 2019/20 season.

Each week we assess which Fantasy assets have been posting impressive underlying statistics.

For example, we like to see which players are registering a large number of shots on target, or are being presented with large number of big chances.

In order to weigh up the quality of these chances, we also use expected data.

Then we analyse the data surrounding each team’s attack over the last four matches, as well as the defensive data of their opponents.

Our research into the latter has proved successful this season when it comes to identifying whether opposition teams are look likely to be thrashed or not.

Finally, we compare our findings against that of the Rate My Team tool which uses an algorithm to make points projections for each Fantasy asset.

Sturridge and Moreno leaving Liverpool. Good for Liverpool.

They should buy the Fraser / Wilson combo and promote one of the youngsters to be backup LB.

Young Adam Lewis will potentially be LB backup. He has been playing well for Liverpool under 23s.

It’s not just this site that is to blame for spoonfeeding.

There are so many twitter accounts breaking the game down and dishing out advice. Also, the official fpl site dishes out as much info as FFS.

        It’s getting tougher every season.

Hello all! Noticed that there doesn’t seem to be much going on regarding the Women’s World Cup, so I thought I might share a fantasy game I stumbled upon:

    https://sheplays.com.au/

I couldn’t find much about the scoring, but the features seem pretty standard. Apart from giving me an extra incentive to watch, I’m jazzed about this bit from the “About” page:

“It is an all-too-common belief that women’s professional sporting leagues are not as exciting, as skillful or as marketable as men’s. At ShePlays, we believe this is a harmful misconception. It perpetuates under-investment, low exposure, poor pay conditions, and other barriers to professionalism that stifle marketability. However, the vast, mostly untapped market of women’s sport is slowly being revealed thanks to inspiring female athletes who have captured the hearts and minds of their respective nations, and supporters who have put pressure on governing bodies to increase investment in the women’s game. We’re excited to be a part of this movement.”

Anyway, if I’m late to the game and someone already has an FFS league, please pass along the details!

Needs someone like an Emma Hayes to break into the mens game for females to get the recognition they fully deserve. Thankfully things are beginning to turn though with the likes of Alex Scott doing a great job at the punditry.

I'm all for promotion and advancement of women's sport and particularly football

however, it has a long way to go to, watched some of the recent she believes cup, the passing and technical abilities were by and large appalling, and fitness lacking - that being said it has developed a lot over the last few years and hopefully will continue to do so

contrary to the ShePlays statement unfortunately it's not something I can get excited about due to an actual conception rather than alleged misconception, but good luck to them, if we get to the semis or final i'll give it a watch

that was a good goal and nice skill to be fair, however, a bit of an exception and not exactly tight defending - I'm not saying they can't do it or don't do it, just that the overall level needs improving to make it the genuinely marketable product that the article proclaims, I'm all for that improvement, to be fair it's taken 100+ years for mens football to get to the levels of last 20/30 years, just think it's gonna take a little more than 'capturing hearts and minds' of the last few years to make womens football a genuinely marketable and cash generating product, but they're on their way and improving all the time and I am In favour of that

in some ways yes, but I'd want to see how Chelsea are affected by new manager(probably) and transfer ban, and although pedro and willian maybe more likely to start goal/assist potential may actually be reduced by not having hazard to rip apart the opposition defence - worth monitoring though, pedro at 6m ish might be worth a gamble

    C- 4-4-2
    D- 4-5-1
    E- 4-3-3

I found that over the last 2 or 3 seasons it has been much harder to build funds, I think they changed the price change algorithms or whatever they're called, which is a shame as it takes away an alternative way of playing (ie risking early transfers to maximise funds and hit back in 2nd half of season with a 'power' squad)

I used to build teams with 115m value, now can't get much above 107m
