FFS Mini-Leagues & Community Competitions Gameweek 13

Before we head into Gameweek 14 there’s just time for the latest round-up of the Fantasy Football Scout mini-leagues and community competitions. This article covers Gameweek 13 in Fantasy Premier League and Gameweek 29 in Fantasy Eliteserien.

Head-to-Head Leagues

Craig Johnson (aka Bouncebackability) extended his lead to 6 points at the top of the FFS Head-to-Head leagues with a close 56 to 51 victory over Aleksander Våge Nilsen (aka Burky Boy).

After his best Gameweek rank of the season last time out (52,720) Craig saved a transfer ahead of Gameweek 13. However a little tinkering with his side – switching the armband from Vardy to Sterling and playing Ryan over Pope – cost him 16 points.

Grant Barclay (aka Jake Donahue) was the highest-scoring manager in League 1 as his decision to captain Son paid off handsomely with a 26-point return.

olavi oja (aka ulafhai) and Owen Walker (aka Zan Scott Talent) are tied on 27 points in second and third places respectively. Olavi is ahead because he has a better overall rank: 95,280 to Owen’s 435,306.

Adam Hardwidge finally lost his 100% winning record as he slumped to a 47-52 defeat to omisaken seye. Adam nonetheless maintains a healthy 9-point advantage at the top of Division 110 in League 8.

After 13 Gameweeks just two managers in the FFS Head-to-Head Leagues have won all their matches.

They are Ammar Mirza in League 8 Division 26 and Vladimir Stojiljkovic in League 8 Division 77. Both are enjoying their best seasons to date – Ammar is in his eleventh FPL season with a best finish of 194,500 while Vladimir is in his fourth season and has never previously finished in the top million. They currently sit 11,301 and 23,664 in the overall standings.

At 320th overall, Dan Bowen has the best rank out of the 5,983 managers in the Head-to-Head leagues. Despite doing so well he is just fifth in Division 8 of League 7 and is tied on 24 points with Wojciech Kołakowski in sixth place.

Dan scored an impressive 71 points in Gameweek 13 yet lost his tie by a single point to Wayne Woods.

Luck of the Draw

Dan could rightfully consider himself a little unlucky to have only gained 24 points out of 39.

So too simon george. An impressive rank of 3,375 has not translated into head-to-head victories. Simon is currently one place above the relegation zone in Division 9 of League 6 on 19 points.

Meanwhile Jo De Win has somehow accumulated 15 points in Division 5 of League 6 despite an overall rank of 6,599,291. Although further investigation reveals that Jo has taken hits totalling 172 points since playing a Gameweek 2 Wildcard.

A fixtures table will be published in the Scout’s Guide to Gameweek 14 ahead of the deadline. However, if you would like to find out who you are playing next before then, follow this link. Use your browser’s find in page function (Ctrl+F) to locate managers. All this information and more is contained in the main Head-to-Head page.

With Liverpool entering a good run of fixtures, Miles owns Mané and Trent Alexander-Arnold while Martin has Salah and Robertson. Which pair will come out on top in the coming weeks?

The code to join the FFS Members League can be found on the Members page

Community Mini-Leagues and Competitions

In the Pundit’s Play-Off Community Tournament The Keane Fifteen suffered their first defeat of the season going down 9-6 to “15” Musketeers.

Nonetheless The Keane Fifteen lead Unbelievable Jeff FC by three points at the top of the league table. Although it’s Unbelievable Jeff FC who have the best overall score.

Lord – Blaming it on Rio reviewed MatchWeek 5 in full and looked ahead to Matchweek 6.

Andy Goddard (aka Andy G) claimed the outright lead in the FFS Mods & Cons mini-league for the first time this season.

Leicester-fan Andy played his Bench Boost for an 85-point Gameweek, and has opened up a 17-point gap over previous leader Neale Rigg (aka SkontoRigga), who drops to second.

Ilyas Piperdy is the new leader in RedLightning’s Top 10k Any Season mini-league, previous leader John Holmes falls one place to second. Once again the margin is just a single point.

Ilyas is in his twelfth FPL season and counts three top 10,000 finishes including 418th in 2014/15. Ilyas also tops PDM‘s Top 1k ANY season mini-league.

Francois Jacquemot retained top spot in Chaballer’s Top 1,000 HoF League.

After playing a successful Wildcard in Gameweek 12 Francois made just one transfer ahead of Gameweek 13, bringing in Janmaat for Montoya. A knee injury to Janmaat meant that Francois gained Soyuncu’s six points from his bench.

Francois leads David Wootten in second place by three points.

Francois is 672nd in the Career Hall of Fame. Managers in the top 1,000 of the Career HoF may enter the league using the code beeps2.

In the exclusive FPL Champions League, 2016/17 FPL winner Ben Crabtree has seen his lead reduced to a mere 44 points. (yes, ok this mini-league isn’t particularly close). Ben slipped to 39,400 overall.

2009/10 champion Jon Reeson moved into second, overtaking FFS Pro Pundit and 2014/15 FPL winner Simon March. West Ham fan Jon is up to 287,460 overall.

Following Greyhead’s look at the Pro Pundits over the international break, Sam Bonfield is still the highest-ranked manager of this select group. Sam’s score of 72 points was the highest by a Pro Pundit in Gameweek 13. She is 26 points ahead of the next highest-ranked Pro Pundit, Tom Freeman.

World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen played his Wildcard in Gameweek 13 and slipped five places to 37th overall. Magnus made seven changes including swapping £4.0m goalkeepers. He now has no Manchester City players but three from Liverpool: Salah, Mané and Alexander-Arnold.

Last year Magnus took on the Liverpool full-back in a game of speed chess.

Fantasy Eliteserien

Ahead of the final round of fixtures Thomas Wickstrøm has regained the lead in the FFS Eliteserien mini-league displacing Svein Johansen. Thomas, who last led in Gameweek 22, is up to 19th overall following his Round 29 score of 55.

Thomas is 55 points behind Håvard Gustad in the battle to be crowned Fantasy Eliteserien champion. Håvard has led for twelve of the last thirteen Gameweeks. Although with one round to go his 18-point advantage has been cut to four.

At the top of the FFS mini-league Thomas and Svein are separated by just two points. Good luck to both managers in the last Gameweek of the season!

TopMarx Fan of Fantasy Football and Monty Python. "Archimedes out to Socrates, Socrates back to Archimedes, Archimedes out to Heraclitus, he beats Hegel. Heraclitus a little flick, here he comes on the far post, Socrates is there, Socrates heads it in! Socrates has scored! The Greeks are going mad, the Greeks are going mad! Socrates scores, got a beautiful cross from Archimedes. The Germans are disputing it. Hegel is arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx is claiming it was offside. Thanks for mentioning that 16 point swing!! Ha

Thought both Ryan and Pope would concede, so played Ryan in case Leicester got a pen. Could have been such a good week as Ryan would have got 3 bonus had that save stood and Vardy wouldn't have gotten as much.. And then Sterling had his goal chalked off, that hurt!

All ifs, buts and maybes though! Onward we go!

Thanks for the write ups as always, must be time consuming so I know everyone appreciates the efforts put in.

Haha, I was just trying to make us mere mortals feel about better about some of our decisions! Even the best can be unlucky.

Credit must go to RedLightning as well, every week he supplies notes which make this article possible (and much less time consuming to write). But don't misunderstand me - I'm not trying to blame him for pointing out your 16 point swing, that was entirely my doing!

Good luck in your tie against Jørgen Skjånes in GW14.
