Blank Gameweek 31 fixtures confirmed after FA Cup ties

The full schedule for Blank Gameweek 31 is now known after the completion of Wednesday’s FA Cup fifth round ties.

Victories for Leicester City and Norwich City meant that two more Premier League fixtures fell by the wayside and will now need to be rearranged due to the clash with the FA Cup quarter-finals later this month.

Manchester City also progressed after a win over Sheffield Wednesday but Pep Guardiola’s side were already assured of a Blank Gameweek 31 after Chelsea‘s victory over Liverpool on Tuesday.

Arsenal, Newcastle United and Sheffield United made it through to the last eight of the FA Cup earlier in the week.

Manchester United face Derby County on Thursday evening but the result of that match will be immaterial to the Gameweek 31 picture.

The confirmed line-up for Blank Gameweek 31 is as follows:

Burnley v Watford
Liverpool
v Crystal Palace
Tottenham Hotspur v West Ham United
Wolverhampton Wanderers
v Bournemouth

Gameweek 34

The FA Cup results also have implications further down the road.

The semi-finals of that competition clash with Gameweek 34, so a maximum of four Premier League matches will be postponed on the weekend of April 18/19.

Manchester City v Newcastle United is one of those fixtures, as the pair meet in the FA Cup quarter-finals and one of the two clubs will make it through to the semis, thus necessitating a rescheduling of their Gameweek 34 match.

However, a free midweek follows that round of league fixtures, so the games in question could simply be moved to the Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday afterwards.

Aston Villa v Sheffield United, originally earmarked for Gameweek 28, and the six postponed Gameweek 31 fixtures also have to be rescheduled, however, so it remains to be seen how the Premier League will go about setting new dates for those matches and whether Double Gameweek 34 will absorb some of them.

A Double Gameweek 37 looks fairly assured, given the lack of available midweeks elsewhere.

We currently have only four Premier League fixtures definitely going ahead on their original dates in Blank Gameweek 34:

Bournemouth v Tottenham Hotspur
Brighton and Hove Albion v Liverpool
Everton
v Southampton
West Ham United v Burnley

OUTSTANDING FIXTURES

The following games still have to be rearranged:

Aston Villa v Sheffield United (originally scheduled for Gameweek 28)
Chelsea v Manchester City (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Leicester City v Brighton and Hove Albion (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Manchester United v Sheffield United (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Newcastle United v Aston Villa (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Norwich City v Everton (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Southampton v Arsenal (originally scheduled for Gameweek 31)
Manchester City v Newcastle United (originally scheduled for Gameweek 34)

It probably won’t be until just after Gameweek 31 that we will know when some, possibly all, of the outstanding Premier League fixtures will take place, as the results of the FA Cup quarter-finals will have a huge bearing on the season run-in.

I think my GW31 team looks something like:

    Pope
    TAA - Robbo - Doherty
    Salah
    Jota - Jimenez

Is that good enough? No hits. Maybe going to do Barnes to Sarr for a hit to get 8 players out.

Yeah I’d run with that. I’ve only got 4 players playing that week so will be forced to free hit

I have now 4 players, but going to use FTs to get Jota, Doherty and Pope in.

I’d think most people free hitting would have something similar plus a couple of Spurs and a couple of the others.

I don’t think your OR will drop much.

I am considering to get C Auba and Sarr for them. Even though it is for -8. Auba has to be best Captain option and that MCI game guaranteed 2x2 pts should cover part of the transfer cost. KdB is ditchable now and I need Sarr for bgw31 imo. Should Burnley concede, he is likely to be involved.

    A. Vardy Perez -> Auba Saka
    B. Vardy Bruno -> Auba Sarr

    Hendo
    TAA - VVD - Stevens
    Salah - KDB - Bruno - Barnes
    Jiminez - Ings - Vardy

Now we know that Liverpool, Manchester City and Spurs definitely don't have a DGW34, and that Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea only have a chance of one if they loss their FA Cup quarter finals (and even then it's not guaranteed), is it really worth planning to use the FH or BB chip in that GW ?

    1. Wild Rover

Valid point! Perhaps best strategy is:
      - FH 29
      - WC anytime in prep for 37
      - BB 37

        • Fantasy Football Scout Member

that or FH in GW31 (not 29)

    3. Rainer
      • 7 Years
      4 years, 24 days ago

Might flip BB to 34 for the cheaper players and then run the FH in 37 to get as much cash in the team as possible for the big boys.

We 'should' know the 34 fixtures before 32 starts, so no panic yet.

I'm very tempted by the WC29 strategy but surely if we fill our teams with 11 players who play in GW31, none of these will have doubles in 34/37? And we would to make a huge number of changes to buy those DGW players (especially as wanting to use BB in 37)

    1. wulfrunian
      • 7 Years
      4 years, 24 days ago

I am thinking 5-6 players from ManCity-Arsenal,9 players who have a game in 31 and with two ft i could have 11 players in 31.Then FH in 34 and until 37 comes i can transform my team for the BB.

      1. woodles
        • 11 Years

have you tried making a team though? assuming I'd want auba, pepe, KDB plus maybe mahrez/ederson/luiz/aguero for the city and arsenal players, it doesn't leave much elsewhere and I'd want the triple wolves (jota/jim/doh) plus Salah and TAA. The cash runs out very fast!

      Yep
Shorter term you gain some DGW players with meh fixtures
But waiting on a WC gives you the chance to get 15 DGW players in for a 37 BB

15 players won’t play twice though, you will miss out on single game week player hauls, you won’t be able to afford all the best players with the money spread, you will struggle to get the best players if you want a decent bench or your bench will be weak and BB a flop

    3. FeverPitch
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member
      • 10 Years

10/11 who play in 31, with three or 4 on the bench who will double later - you then have 6 transfers to get 9 or 10 dgw players by 37. I’m happy to potentially take a hit or two, and include some strong single game week players, and enjoy a much stronger side for 29 and 31. And indeed all the other weeks coming up - the added benefit of wildcard now is that I get, for example, Jota Sarr Doherty this week, all of whom I think could have a really great few weeks

      1. woodles
        • 11 Years

really nice point about doh/jota/sarr. I want all of these but if I look to get a DGW player or two this week I would miss out of these guys for at least a couple of weeks

It’s what has swung it for me tbh - although I liked my team on paper, it somehow feels like a really good time to make some changes across the board. Feel like the upside over a number of weeks is potentially quite a bit higher than the classic wc and bb combo for a one off week...

I only have 4 players now who play in GW31 so either way it looks like I'm going to have to use the WC or FH to navigate 31.

WC in 29 and FH in 31 is even tempting me as the GW34 I had targeted for the FH isn't looking so good now.

FH in 31 would then allow 11 players with games, but would also mean you can bring in the likes of salah & mane etc without the budget restrictions caused by having expense city/arsenal players sat on the bench

It's tough balancing blanks v doubles, I much favour a WC the week before playing BB in a DGW. I think I'll take a hit this week for Auba, the FH in 31, TC 34 (if there's DGW), WC 36 and BB 37.

Interested to know what you lot would do in my position now the fixtures for 31 are sorted. Really wanted that Spurs win as just lost 4 players. Free hit looking likely.

I got my own 2 transfers in mind for this weeks double already. Gonna be another hit and controversial but that's how I like it! 🙂

Do you think that Maddison and Iheanacho could get a rest(180 minutes in the last two games)?

Plenty of time to rest and there's no replacement for in that squad for Maddison. Nacho obviously has to worry about Vardy or an OOP Perez so he's a bit different.

Considering to use FH this GW. I have 8 players for GW 31 imo and have plan to use BB in DGW 37. DGW 34 should be small one...

I would have done the same if Spurs had beaten Norwich

Who do you not own this gw that you'd want? Personally I have Jimenez, Ings, Vardy, Patricio, Traore, Bruno, KDB and triple pool that I'm v happy to own this gw. Would see it very hard to replace these for even say Aubam who has a dgw.

yea good point, i have similar as you.

Dont have Auba and i can bring him for a hit or free for Firmino.

Also i can do Bergwijn to Pepe for free

    Your advice appreciated. Wildcard this?

    Ryan, Button
    Rico, TAA, Lundstram, Reid, Holgate
    Salah, Mane, Traore, Fernandez, Dendock
    Vardy, Ings, Jim

Currently 7 players for GW31 (assuming Rico plays), and was planning to add a couple more with FT's (eg: Ryan to Pope) and hold wildcard. Now with DGW29 not sure.

    Vardy > Auba
    Ings > Wood

Worth a -4? Got exact cash so would have to do tonight with Ings set to drop

You could be selling the two highest scoring forwards this week for a hit
