Pro Pundits - Andy

Why Harry Kane is back on my FPL radar and which three United assets I favour

Let’s Talk FPL’s Andy looks at the post-restart performances of Aston Villa, Sheffield United, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in his latest Pro Pundits piece.

The new normal isn’t all that different so far from a Fantasy Premier League perspective.

Danny Ings (£7.3m) is still in great goalscoring form, Kevin De Bruyne (£10.7m) has averaged 7.6 points per match in the opening three games, and Nick Pope (£5.0m) is making a mockery of anyone who brings in a different goalkeeper.

With that being said, I do want to explore whether there are any differences we can spot following the Gameweeks and matches we’ve seen since football restarted.

    Will be weeks where won’t be playing the forward but:

    A) Nkeitah and Doherty
    B) DCL and Saiss

    Struggling to see a space for Kane in anyone's team given the structure most ended up with after GW30, maybe an Aubameyang downgrade for some? Would consider him on free hit but pretty awkward to get him in normally.

      Mourinho gets 2-0 up and that's enough for him.

        I have Son captained this week as fancied them again Sheff Utd but yes agree.. Kane had a lot of chances against west Ham but still looked sluggish

          Whilst Liverpool, City assets, Aubameyang, even Son who is cheaper, are around, Kane isn't worth the fuss.

            If Aubameyang blanks tonight and Kane scores tomorrow there will be plenty who make that move.. Auba owners are the only ones who can really do it easily

              Don't think he'll blank. Norwich are a mess, can't defend. But people may even do that move if he hauls.

              Btw, massive well done on your rank.

      Think that's the biggest problem really.

      Obviously first and foremost - will he actually be any good....would want to see at least Sheffield United first, and after that how do you fit him in!

      My motto for rest of the season is never say never though

      1. suddenorgan

        Sheff Utd have looked really poor since the restart, it's one of those situations where he could come out with a haul having not actually played especially well.

        But big yes to flexibility, there could be a situation where we do start seeing a lot of rotation for Salah/KDB and then that's a lot of cash freed up.

    Repost from last article.

    Not sure what to do here, got 2FT and £0 ITB. Few question marks over the likes of Son, DCL and Rashford so keen to see how the first 2 perform today/tomorrow. Could do the following options below.

    Pope, Martin
    TAA, Doherty, Saiss, Lascelles, Femenia
    Mane, KDB, Son, Bruno, Guendouzi
    Rashford, Jimenez, DCL

    A) Son & Guendouzi to Martial & Foden
    B) DCL & Guendouzi to Greenwood & Foden
    C) Rashford & Guendouzi to Greenwood & Mahrez
    D) Son & Femenia to Mahrez & AWB
    E) other suggestions

    Thanks in advance

      If he performs against Sheffield Utd like he did against West ham, then he will be very hard to resist. The Sheff Utd game could be misleading though, given how many BC's they concede. The following games should be harder for Spurs

    I’m putting it out there into the universe that its scientifically impossible he could complete this fixture list:

      Hopefully Norwich do a man-marking job on Auba. It is a shame that the art of man-marking has gone out of the game. It might not be 'progressive', but if your opponent is superior you can't be choosy.

    On a WC, please let me know your thoughts:

    Initial thoughts were around this first draft, with already transfers in mind... 1)
    Martinez
    TAA Van Dijk Saiss
    Salah Mahrez KDB Fernandes Martial
    Jimenez DCL

    Button Nketiah Lamptey Jack Robinson

    GW34+ -> Save Transfer
    GW35+ -> Van Dijk -> Wan-Bissaka / Maguire
    GW36+ -> Salah + DCL / Jimenez -> Sterling + Ings
    GW37+ -> Save Transfer
    GW38+ -> Saiss + DCL / Jimenez -> Robbo + fodder (probably start Nketiah in last GW)

    After yesterday night, i'm all over the place and currently considering this as a 4-5-1 or 3-5-2, but it doesn't give me a lot of flexibility for future moves

    2)

    Pope
    TAA AWB Aurier
    Salah KDB Mahrez Fernandes Son
    Jimenez Greenwood

    Button Saiss Nketiah Simpson

    GW34+ -> Save Transfer
    GW35+ -> Pope -> Fabianski
    GW36+ -> Salah + Son -> Sterling + Pulisic
    GW37+ -> Nketiah -> Ings
    GW38+ -> Jimenez -> DCL 1) or 2), anything you would change in terms of a master plan?

      There's really not much point in trying to plan so far ahead as it could all change with injuries/rotation/form in a week or two.

      Regarding your teams, if Son has another quiet game tonight then I'd probably avoid him and go with Option 1.

    Hey all, I’ve got 2FT

    Team at the moment:
    DDG
    TAA Doherty Saiss
    Salah KDB Son Fernandes
    Rash Jiménez DCL

    Bench is:
    Button / Lacelles, Kiko & Guendouzi

    - 0.3itb left -

    Thinking Guendouzi & Rash to Martial & Nketiah

    Would leave me with:
    DDG
    TAA Doherty Saiss
    Salah KDB Son Fernandes Martial
    Jiménez DCL

    Button / Nketiah, Lacelles & Kiko

    Which is what my WC was almost like the GW31 but I had AWB and Pat, what could have been lol.

    Is Robbo really that bad a pick now? I find it shocking that he's fallen all the way down to 5% ownership in the top 10K. I would be adding him to TAA for double Liverpool defence in a 4-4-2, and want a differential so I'm not that interested in VVD. I have plenty of bench options that can come on if he is rested.

      Milner's injury is not too serious so we will probably see him feature on and off over the next 10 days.

        I forgot that Milner was even injured. I don't even mind Milner starting half the games if Robbo would stay on the bench when Milner starts. But maybe that's a bad bet.

      Great pick but expensive alongside TAA. Curtails your options in mid & attack unless you have a massive TV of course.

      You have the TV to handle or you you you think the strategy is to play value v points in def?

    Thoughts on this WC team?

    Ederson - Button
    VVD - Alonso - Doherty - AWB - Lamptey
    Salah - KDB - Mahrez - Fernandes - Pulisic
    Jimenez - Greenwood - Nketiah

    4-5-1

    Thanks guys!

      Playing a 4-5-1?

      I like the squad, but are both Greenwood & Nketiah subs/hopefuls or a week to week strategy?

      Just a question, not a judgement.

    Hi all,

    Nice article Andy! Think of the following move this week, worth the -4? Any other ideas?

    O'Connell, Barnes & DCL to AWB, Mahrez & Greenwood.

    Would leave me with:

    Hendo (McCarthy)
    TAA, AWB, Boly (Taylor, Stephens)
    KDB, Salah, Fernandes, Mahrez (Fleck)
    Jimi, Aubam, Greenwood

    Cheers!

    those holding double wolves DEF, are you playing both V arsenal or just 1....doherty presumably ?

      Have Patricio as only playing GK and Boly in defence.

      If not playing both my options on the bench are Lascelles (WHU) or Holgate (tot). I haven't decided what to do yet.

        me neither, I'd have to take a hit elsewhere and rebalance things really to get it sorted

        to be fair I could see them shutting out arsenal but they've had so many CS, bound to concede sooner or later!

        I'd probably play Lascelles.

      If it looks like Tierney is playing I will probably bench Doherty (also have Patrício) as Tierney is fairly solid. Could play Lascelles instead but no doubt WH will put in one of their rare good performances now it’s crunch time

    Already have Bruno and Kdb.
    Would you look to bring in Martial or Mahrez?

    (Would also mean doing DDG -> Pope to free up funds).

    Is this madness for a -4?

    Rash, Kiko, Saka out
    Greenwood, AWB, Foden

      I'm not sure. I think Rashford will definitely come good.

      That being said, you're taking them as a trio and the latter probably scores more.

        He likely could but Rash hasnt looked sharp to me since the return. I know he provided two assists for Martial but didn't look convincing. Also, AWB is too hard to ignore. What's your team look like Verbs?

          Tbh, I'd be for the moves the more I think of it. Foden and AWB looking good atm.

          I've done well since the restart. Got 2 FT this week with attack to play with

          Salah Son Pogba Bruno
          Rashford Jimmy DCL

          Might sell DCL.

            Might be template but I've got the exact same front line. I would rather have AWB in defence than 3 attackers from United.

      If you're playing catch-up in your ML, it could be an inspired gamble.

        Currently about 60 ish points ahead in my ML. Want to achieve both but now focused on breaching the 10k rank barrier (currently 15k)

    Another WC draft.

    All players are nailed

    Pope Martinez
    TAA Aurier Boly Saiss Holgate
    Salah Kdb Bruno Martial Saka
    Rash Jimi Ayew

    0.0 itb.

    Thanks

      Saka + Rash to Son + Greenwood by downgrade Ayew.

    Hoping for a no show from Martinez, TAA, Saka & DCL so I can get Pope (9) & Greenwood (12) juicy points third off my bench.

    % chance?

    2 FT, 0 ITB

    Any ideas?

    Foster, 3.9
    TAA, Maguire, Saiss, Lascelles, 3.9
    KDB, Salah, Son, Bruno, Martial
    Jimenez, DCL, Connolly

    My plan was to bring in Mahrez, but I'm reluctant to part with any of my midfielders. Obviously Foster sucks, and I'll regret picking him over Pope for the rest of the season, but I don't see an alternative with 0 ITB.

      Yes your midfield is good but you could use the extra funds to upgrade DCL or Connelly.
      Luckily for me I went Alli over Son on WC so I have an easy swap to Mahrez this week.
