FFScout Memberships for 2020/21 season available

Fantasy Football Scout Memberships for the 2020/21 season are now available at the pre-season rate of £17.50.

That works out at an equivalent of less than £1.50 a month (or 5p a day!) as, instead of expiring on June 1 as was previously the case, these rolling annual subscriptions now cover a full 12-month period.

That’s better value than our rivals are offering for the equivalent all-access Membership package.

If you prefer to dip your toe into the water rather than plunge right in, however, we are continuing to offer rolling monthly subcriptions for just £2.99 per month.

Existing registered users can upgrade via this link. New users, who are yet to get a registered account, can sign up via this link.

Payments can be made through Paypal or via Stripe using debit or credit cards.

Does early FPL team news really provide an advantage?

So what do you get for your money?

Well, you’ll be joining legions of other Fantasy managers by signing up, including former Fantasy Premier League champions Adam Levy, Simon March and Tom Fenley.

Thousands upon thousands of FPL bosses take advantage of our subscriptions and sign up every year, using the stats and tools to aid their Gameweek planning.

You’ll get exclusive content from some of the best Fantasy managers in the business, too, including ex-champion Simon March, five-time top 1k finisher Tom Freeman, three-time top 200 finisher Lateriser and six-time top 5k finisher Zophar.

The YouTube video below provides you with a whistle-stop tour of the Members Area and what’s on offer:

There’s more information on the benefits of Fantasy Football Scout Membership on this page, along with a series of movies previewing the content.

Our Flat-Track Bully tool was a new addition this season, with subscribers now able to identify Fantasy assets with good records against specific clubs.

This will help you pinpoint players who perhaps perform better against weaker opposition and even those who thrive against the top teams, like Raúl Jiménez famously did in 2018/19.

We’ve also introduced Members-only comments and Hot Topics to allow for detailed discussions of content behind the paywall.

Our Projections and Rate My Team tools (below) were both refined for 2019/20, with RMT’s Professor – aka Chris Atkinson – elaborating on the changes in a Hot Topic.

2018/19 Fantasy Premier League champion Adam Levy is a paid-up Member of our site and he discussed what tools of ours he finds most useful in an interview after his triumph.

In previous seasons we’ve helped FPL winners Tom Fenley and Simon March, while in 2015/16 we were thrilled to see Ed Masters – the winner of that year’s Members’ League – finish third in the overall rankings.

In 2017/18, Paul Gee went one better. He won our Members’ League and finished second, losing out to champion Yusuf Sheikh by just eight points.

We are hugely grateful to those who show their support by signing up as a Member each season. This continues to enable us to maintain the site, grow the Fantasy Football Scout team and develop more ideas.

Here are some more of the features you can enjoy as a subscriber:

HEAD-TO-HEAD COMPARISONS

Compare both teams and players head to head.

MATCH ANALYSIS

Analysis of every Premier League match (going back to 2011/12!), together with charts which plot average positions and our collection of heatmaps for touches, shots, chances created among other statistics.

CUSTOM STATS TABLES

Members can also create custom tables based on the data and share them with other subscribers (an example from last season is shown above).

Perhaps the most famous of these is Joe’s Goals Imminent table, which looks to predict which underperforming assets will find the net next.

CUSTOMISABLE SEASON TICKER

Sort by fixture difficulty and find out which teams’ matches rotate well using our customisable Season Ticker.

Be sure to check out all the other benefits of signing up as a member here. A full FAQ on our Members’ Area is also available here.

I think Ake will be rotational player and City will go for another defender

      Definitely.

Surprised he's happy to play his career out like that, not like he's substantially younger than Laporte or anything. Assuming they buy someone like Kouli as their other CB, you'd imagine he'd play a while before handing off to the far younger Garcia.

I also read somewhere that with him City may play 3 at the back, which may be sensible. But I think that playing two left footed defenders in the middle of 4 men line may be quite innovative:) However , in my opinion he is better player than Otamendi and Stones, maybe with reservation to aerial duels:)

Possibly, he is actually a very good defender in his own right. Just been surrounded by dud defenders most seasons. I think he is nailed with Laporte unless they sign someone else.

Little tricky until a gifting option is added.

Best option would be to create a new account, buy it membership and then I'll transfer it manually across? Would need to talk over email for it though (ted@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk or support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk)

    Fancy something a bit different?

Our latest Community article that has just gone up is on the Scottish Fantasy Game before the season starts this weekend, could be a nice time killer over the summer. This article is focused on the app Fantasy Football Scotland which is closer to the normal FPL rules than the official game.

I think this is defender, which suits very well for City. He is good on the ball, he has never made an error leading to the goal, he is prettyquick. It also should be noticed that Man City has no problem with splashing lot of money on defenders i.e. they paid 45m euro for Mangala or. 55m euro for Stones and those transactions were completed before VvD deal

Homegrown premium, last summer Mings and Webster cost 20-25m with little/no top flight experience, Maguire with 100 top flight matches (plus a relegation on his record) cost 80m. In that context 41m for Ake who has 150 top flight games isn't unreasonable.

Just read this lovely comment on r/soccer.

    "u/Arvi833:
If you're new to fantasy sports, it sounds like a weird hobby where you pick players from real teams for your imaginary team and cheer for them when they do well in real matches because it gets you imaginary points for your imaginary team.

Once you try it yourself, however, it's worse than crack and what started as curiousity ends with you anxiously watching Burnley - Newcastle on a Friday night instead of going out with your mates and praying for a boring 0-0 because you have both of their defenders on your team. Then they both lose their clean sheets in stoppage time with the goals being scored by players you don't own and you get irrationally angry and question your life choices, your weekend is ruined and you get ready to do it again next week."

Could not have summed it up better. FPL is a freaking weird hobby.

If Auba is an FPL mid next season then Salah and Auba my two premiums for midfield.

Also Chelsea somehow make Oblak the most expensive GK ever then 1 x Chelsea defender will be locked in from the start. Say hi to Azpi 🙂

And if Arteta plays him up top next season (for whatever reason), he’d be a oop midfielder.

Nah, striker is his natural position. He’ll remain there.

Auba doesnt get double digit hauls often. Even with the extra goal point and possible clean sheet it would be unlikely. Baps likely to take a hit

              Auba is Mr consistent.

Extra point for a goal, 2 points for 60 minutes, 1 point for cleanie add bonus and he will score more compared to being a forward. Add assits and becomes a goldmine.

              Also not prone to yellows.

Already too many premium midfielders and no premium strikers worth having so this would be a step in the wrong direction imo... But wouldn't surprise me as the people running the game seem pretty clueless.

I agree, too many blatant forward players as mids. I think the reason they do it is to make you choose 5 from a larger pool. There might only be 5 or 6 genuine midfielders that are good picks, then everyone would have the same midfield. So whilst it is lame, I understand it.

He's FPL Gold. Unfortunately Lampard has decided that he's not in his long term plans. Seems to do whatever he can to keep him out of the squad even though he's one of their best attacking outlets

I for one would like if Mane,Salah,Martail and Antonio were moved into the forwards bracket and Auba stay in that classification.

By right there should be a nice selection of premium forwards to give a manager selection headaches.Still plenty of choice in midfield if you took some of those guys out.

I am of the school of thought that if you play as a forward in a 433/343 system then you should be classed accordingly.I know most here don't agree with me as they want more high scoring mids to play with.

I agree absolutely. I think it's ridiculous that Salah, Sterling & co get 5 points per goal and clean sheet points compared to players like Auba and Rashford.

But then people panic and say "but where do you draw the line? do we make ALL attacking midfielders forwards?!!" and the conversation gets out of hand.

Fpl should think about just having 3 positional choices GK,Defenders,Attackers and price accordingly if they keep miss-classifying players.

I always find it bizarre that lets say Mane and Salah play on average more forward than Firmino but are classed as mids whereas Roberto is classed as a forward.

            • 8 Years

Indeed - I saw an argument that said 'but then we wouldn't be able to pick any Liverpool mids', but as it is we can't pick any Liverpool forwards (I dare anyone to pick Firmino!).

Couldn't agree more and I'd add Sterling to that list too. They are not midfielders, they are attackers and being able to pick five mids and only three fwds makes it easier and much more template.

        1. Nightcrawler
          • 4 Years

Would allow for a lot of differential oicks in mid too. Far too risky atm

Then Son, Richarlison (probably will be a forward anyway), Pulisic, Zaha, Ziyech etc will also need to be strikers and everyone will end up with pretty much the same midfield due to lack of options.

        1. Nightcrawler
          • 4 Years

Pukisic is not a forward. Only those looking at merely at formations on oaper would say pul and salah play in the same position (opp sides)

They need to look at teams individually and make thier calls based in how they play not what the formation says on graphics

          1. Klaren
            • 6 Years

I fully disagree, it should be objective as possible and based on formations rather than subjective decisions. With that logic because Alonso goes forward a lot, he should be classified as a midfielder.

Pulisic played as a left winger on 4-3-3 majority of the time, so same position as Mane or Sterling on paper.

I'm with you. Classing wide "forwards" as midfielders a) avoids the confusion of where wide midfielder meets winger meets forward, and b) makes the game a lot more fun

            • 8 Years
            3 years, 8 months ago

Agreed. Watch the game or look at heat maps (or both) and you'd come to the same conclusion - that Salah is a (wide) forward and Pulisic an attacking midfielder.

        2. Wild Rover
          • 13 Years
          3 years, 8 months ago

But we would only be able to pick three instead of five of the big goalscorers and if we go for three big hitters we won't be able to afford KDB and Bruno etc. Much less template than it is now

          1. Klaren
            • 6 Years
            3 years, 8 months ago

You wouldn't be able to afford to pick five of the big goalscorers anyway for the same reason you can't afford KDB, Bruno and 3 premium strikers.

I think what is likely to happen in that scenario is everyone getting KDB,Bruno in their midfield and then 2 of the premiums like Salah, Auba, Sterling upfront with 1 of the mid-priced strikers (Ings/Jimenez/etc).

So overall due to lack of options in midfield, KDB/Bruno and any mid-priced midfielder that does well will have even higher ownership and lead to a more template team in my opinion.

Again i think it should come down to the formation that the team in question actually plays most of the time.

Not that i've given much analysis or anything but Chelsea under Frank seem to like 4-2-3-1 so with Pulisic and Ziyech taking up the attacking midfield positions within that system so i would be happy for them to remain as mid options.

It seemed to me that Aterta favored a 3 up forward towards the end of the season at least.I would have to give a close look to be sure though.

I wonder how Henry would be classed in modern fpl the way he would make a run into the box from the wide left where he was prolific.

If fpl applied the same logic as they do to Slaah then he would be classed as a mid imo.

Chelsea was playing 4-2-3-1 at the beginning of the season but Lampard switched to 4-3-3 later and played 4-3-3 majority of the time when they weren't playing with 3 at the back (which was the main factor reducing Mount's appeal in fpl).

              Good point.

It's hard to say with them really and with the arrivals of the likes of Werner, Ziyech and Kai Havertz then Frank will have lots of great options on the table.

Complete agree. Salah Mane Sterling should all be forwards. Notice the classification is forward, not striker. Salah Mane and Sterling are definitely wide forwards, not midfielders

I think that if they classify all wingers as forwards then, by the same logic, wing-backs need to be classed as midfielders.

Unfortunately, you then have an issue with players like Alonso who play as a full-back or wing-back depending on the formation.

I prefer it how it is now, and I'd keep any winger with a history of playing as a centre forward (Auba, the Man Utd front 3) in the forward classification. I appreciate that this is a bit subjective but it's probably thr best way to create opinions in all positions.

I was looking for just raw FPL PPG and couldn't find it. Was specifically looking for total FPL points in a gameweek range and I couldn't do it.

Arsenal have joined the chase to sign Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish.

Manchester United have been heavily linked and now the Gunners have registered an interest.

That would probably be the perfect move for him, and would be great for him as an FPL option, too. It would offer Arsenal more freedom to play Auba up top, with Grealish on the left, and/or (more likely) would fill the creative gap that Ozil's decline has left them with in the middle of the pitch. If he goes to Man Utd, he'd be struggling for starts behind Pogba, Bruno and Rash - if he goes to Arsenal, he's instantly one of their best and most important players, I'd imagine

Agree with MOSF94, would be good for both parties and much better for Grealish than the likes of United, and certainly City where he'd be a squad player

At least they still have their honor which is hard to put a price on Berbs.

I think what happened at City woke up the PL to the fact that many shady figures were trying to buy their way into the PL as a form of character laundering and could use all that money to make things like UFEA investigations, penalty's,fines and journalists that asked too many questions or wouldn't toe the line disappear.

Any money coming from China needs to be closely scrutinized too on the back of what's happening to the Uighurs, the annexation of Hong Kong and the possibility of the virus being used as a weapon.

I don't have any real problem with any of the American money in the PL as i feel they are just in it for a fast buck.

Not to pour more confusion on the Auba midfield vs forward debate. But here is a comparison of Auba’s heatmaps pre and post Arteta’s appointment has Arsenal manager.

Everything suggests he should be a mid but for some reason this is the one I feel is least likeliest to change. Maybe because Auba is a striker by nature.

FPL need to be careful with the precedent they set. Repositioning too many could ruin the game.

I'd be happy with just a Rashford and Martial switch only.

According to their respective positional summaries on transfrmrkt.co.uk

Auba played 21 league games in a "non-centre-forward" position this season...

Rashford played 25 league games in a "non-centre-forward" position...

If Auba's going back - then Rash & Greenwood have to go back with him Shirley...

Greenwood as a 7.5 mid would have such epic potential, particualrly if utd don't go balls-deep into the market for a RWF

            KDB, Bruno, Greenwood, Auba midfield?

            (12.0, 10.5, 7.5, 11.5) - leaves 58.5 for the other 11 players - is that even affordable, I can't tell

If my quick math is correct would allow:
              5.0 4.0
              8.0 6.0 4.5 4.5 4.0
              ——
              10.5 6.0 4.5 (or other combo)

              More than affordable

It should be all right. You would have 20.5 left for your three forwards if you did a minimum-priced bench (16.5), TAA at 8.0, and 13.5 for two 4.5 defenders plus a 4.5 GK.

You think he’ll be that pricey? He’s very promising, but massive hike from 4.5 especially when they still have James available

Idk, I don´t think its luck. I had so many captain fails this season too. Last 5 seasons in the top20k. I just don´t think this game is too difficult to finish within top50k each season if your reasonably focused as I have been these last 5 seasons.

Which likely key players will be off to Afcon? Liverpool will be down an attack of course. Arsenal will be down a whole team without Auba. Ditto Palace with Zaha unless he’s at Arsenal. Mahrez? Ndidi?

Feels like it’s unlikely to impact FPL much bar the Liverpool mids. Might make whoever’s up top there insane value. Origi I guess.

        Mané.

Ever since Salah came to Liverpool my policy has been to get the cheaper one. Worked well in Salah's first year, as well as the following year when I picked Mane and there wasn't much between them.

        1. Mr. O'Connell
          • 11 Years

Salah would be circa 35 points down on this season's total with a position reclassification (this is based on lost point for goal/and no cs point, although likely he picks up a couple of extra bonus points). Puts him about level with Auba who finished on 205 points.

Aguero and RVP were pushing 13m a few seasons back. Would Salah come in at this level if he were classified as a forward?

          1. Greek Freak
            • 8 Years
            3 years, 8 months ago

I don't know, the question was if I'd take him for 11m!

To be honest I'm not sure he'd be that many points down - there would be considerably more BPS for every goal, so gone would be the days of him needing to get two attacking returns to get bonus points.

Probably. It's unlikely to happen at all. I was just about to go do some heatmap comparisons to back up my theory that Salah plays more as a centre forward, but realised I'm no longer a member.

It appears that no one understands the difference between a centre forward and an attacking midfielder.

People need to learn the basics of football before giving their opinions!

Is this the reclassification of mids/forwards debate? Because that's really more about second-guessing what FPL Towers are intending to do with certain players this season, which isn't that much about football at all.

Way more people who seem to not understand the difference between a wide forward and a midfielder. Auba, Rashford, Salah, Mane et al. are not midfielders.

I assume teams are on holiday now - seems a bit bizarre after such a long break.

Are there any preseason matches already planned? Can’t track any down. I know they’ve just stopped but aren’t we just a couple of weeks away from when preseason tours would usually kick in?
