The impact of losing Soucek in GW1 has caused a 4-player restructure across my team, a new GW1 captain and planned transfers as a result.

On a side note, I'm surprised how even elite-level athletes can allow themselves to be so exposed to the virus this close to the start of the new season, must be a nightmare for managers right now.

van der Beek isn't going to start every week, he's a clear upgrade on the squad options though. Ole won't want to end up where he was last December when Andreas Pereira and Lingard were starting when a few players were out, or in the Europa League semi-final with no legit options on the bench to change the game.

Ole told him he’d play along side Pogba and Bruno in the midfield - likely Utd will go without recognisable DM for home games / easy away fixtures

Pogba, Fernandes & van der Beek will get overrun by most midfields in the league. This isn't FIFA.

Right. For me, Havertz has a clear role, DVB not so much and the United midfield might need a bit of time to gel. Won't necessarily flop, but won't be an instant success. I might hold off getting Bruno until I've seen a couple of games.

Had exactly the same dilemma yesterday... my team is exactly the same as your first one with Nyland, KWP, Mitchell and Brewster in the gaps, with 0.5 ITB to upgrade Ings to Martial after GW1

Want to see how United set up with De Beek before committing to Greenwood, Martial is the safer option and think he’ll get quite a few this year

Starting with Vardy (+ Adams for 6.0) is a no brainer imo. He’s got two great games and can be a placeholder for Martial/Werner
I’m also starting with Barnes and 1.5ITB whilst waiting on Pulisic fitness
My squad is so much easier to assemble without Salah in it

Vardy's fixtures get better with time. He should be a perma-fixture in your team, not just a placeholder.
Not ha in Salah in GW1 is an unnecessary risk though

Everton really going under the radar with their signings.

Wasn’t even giving them an ounce of consideration before. DCL could very well be a fantastic set and forget option at 7 million.

Obviously FPL prices players based on last season and not necessarily how they will perform this season. Feel as though Chelsea and Spurs assets are also relatively kindly priced

I wouldn’t touch Everton the players don’t try as they are a such a small club & are only their for the pay packet.

Perhaps you know the club more than me but with Ancelotti at the helm, I’d expect them to have a strong season

yeah i want to focus my moves on the big hitters given the variety this season, needs the steady tickers. With Carlo at the helm and midfield bolstered he seems good. I feel people will judge them post restart where they were clearly on the beach and forget they were actually good prior to that

7.0 price tag did have, and probably still has, kind of psychological effect on me, I see him overpriced. But with midfield revamped, Everton should increase the number of chances they create. And not only it would be a good thing DCL, but also for Digne imo. With James added, it's probably going to be 4-2-3-1, which makes Richarlison reverse oop, and at 8.0 he could be priced out of the game.

FPL Swede had a great write-up on Everton with predicted formation https://twitter.com/fpl_swe/status/1301436294044815361?s=12

Remains to be seen whether Digne stays on FK’s and continues his crossing output now that there are actually creative midfielders in the side. I like the 7 mil price for DCL

Ryan + Button might solve this issue and is cheapest route to have certain starter.

Not yet imo. And Brighton needs another spare gk, so if he goes, there should be another 4.0 imo. That might happen after fpl deadline though.
