Euro 2012 – Fantasy League Pro Update

As many of you may already have noticed, our coverage for next month’s Euro 2012 tournament in Poland and Ukraine will also take in the Fantasy League Pro auction game. Yesterday saw us appeal for managers to fill the three Fantasy Football Scout leagues and, with only eight managers per league, the places quickly filled up. Here’s who made the cut:

FFScout League 1

Chairman: Mark.

The auction-based game seems to have caught the interest of many on the boards and with the game free-to-play, we intend to offer plenty coverage over the course of the tournament.

While we will obviously analyse the official Scout leagues and report on events as they unfold, we’d also like you to get involved.

    Looks like DV has been ruled out of Euro 2012. As a Barca supporter, I'm glad, since he'll be fully healthy for next season. As a Euro fantasy manager, this still makes it a 2-man race for 1 striker spot for Spain...

                    Nicely done. You can only have so much fun with Plymouth. 7th season with Newcastle. Not won a single domestic trophy but won the Europa, got to the SF of the CL and finishing in the top 5 in the PL every season.

      Unfortunately Torres is back to haunt our teams again. He seems to fit more seamlessly into the Spanish team too in terms of playing style, so don't rule him out.

      Should be Llorente though.

        I'm expecting Llorente to be leading the line. He could be the bargain of the tournament. The group is relatively easily for Spain. They'll play highly defensively -- mostly likely with a 4-2-3-1 formation -- and get about 70-75% possession. I'm expecting a lot of 1-0 or 2-0 scores, with Llorente being at the point of conversion. I can't really see Torres being in the starting lineup, unless the formation changes. It's more likely there'll be a midfield of
        Alonso - Busquets
        Silva - Xavi - Iniesta
        with Llorente up front, and with Mata and Fabregas brought in for variety, an Torres occasionally as a late sub.
        I also can't see any other country beating Spain with a lineup like that.

          And with Jesus Navas as the other midfield rotation option, especially if playing against sides with slow, static defense. Again, I'm surprised that people aren't raving about Spain as hot favorites for the tournament. They've got the incredible talent and the coaching skill, and I don't think that the Netherlands, Germany, France, or Italy get even close in overall ability. Which means I'm amazed that most fantasy lineups don't have at least two of Alba/Xavi/Iniesta/Llorente. Any dissenters out there?

        I do have another keeper and other player etc. but there all 4.0 unmentionables.

        Should take out Kallstrom for Sneijder then take out Criscito and Zhirkov for K.Papodoupalous & Torossidis ? I think Sneijder will get quite a lot more than Kallstrom but will the 2 greeks get a lot less than Zhirkov and Criscito ?

      I'd steer clear of Dutch defense, even if it's only for one week.

      Get Croatian defense or Ukraine for first week.

      Personally though, don't see much value in WC'ing week 2. The teams will change most drastically for week 3 because some teams will rest players after securing qualification early.

      Huntelaar is currently ferociously on fire.
      12 goals in the 8 euro qualifier matches making him the top scorer in the qualifiers this time. He's also the top scorer in the Bundesliga this year beating Gomez with 48 goals in 47 games.
      His international record all round is astounding , 31 goals in 50 games, He's on track to be one of The Netherlands' all time highest scorers.

      He's 7th top now with 31 goals , top being around 40 , which I can see him beating before his career is out with out too much hassle. So in short I reckon by the end of his career (assuming he can maintain his role and plays till an average age of retirement) he'll be the netherlands all time highest scorer

      Huntelaar is in great form, but so is van Persie, that is the selection dilemma, van Persie was the best player in the PL this year.

      Huntelaar has also had a very good domestic season, and a better international record though.

      Its worth pointing out that 5 of Huntelaar's qualifying goals came against San Marino, without those 2 games his record reads 7 goals in 6 games - still very impressive, but slightly more realistic.

      Van Persie got 6 goals in 6 games, fairly similar.

      Basically despite his awesome form, he is a risk as he still probably won't start every game unless the Dutch change formation.

    Ok so if I make changes to my team and confirm after registering it on the McDonald's fantasy site will my squad become visible to the rest of the players in my league or does it stay invisible regardless of whether I pick a new team, until after the first matchday??     B)silva- larsson (some 8m mid GW2)

    I know everyone is going for iniesta and I do think he is one of the best players in the world, but I don't love his fantasy potential. I think silva has a much greater chance of scoring.

        No. Silva played in 6 games and scored 4 times. MAta played in 3 games and scored twice. I think spain will definitively start with: xabi alonso-- busquets-- xavi-- iniesta--silva -- llorente

        A journo over here though has swayed me towards Louis Van Gaal. We need CL and we need it quick and he's done it everywhere he's been.
